Nick Fairley arrested for marijuana possession
bladiebla replied to papazoid's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Fact is it is a very usefull medicine as pain relief but also slows and in some cases even cures cataract. Fact recreational use has been traced back as far as 2737 BC. Fact tobacco and alcohol are far more dangerous then marijuana, alcohol to the extend of harddrugs even. Fact is it doesnt compare to harddrugs like cocaine, heroin or PCP. Also xtc or mdma in pure form has been shown in studies to be healthy and there is even a hint that it may help against alzheimer. Only reason this stuff is banned is because users are less productive and the governement needs workers not spacers, then again how productive are you when watching football or any other entertainment you enjoy, do you go to work drunk? XTC and marijuana do no one harm on a usage level. The harm comes from it being illegal, criminals smuggle the stuff and try to monopolize markets, if anything it needs to be legalized and regulated. Bonus fact; the Netherlands allows marijuna and XTC for personal usage, as a result the Netherlands has the lowest amount of drug addicts in the world. Edit: Ow and if you ever find someone is too high on marijuna know that sugar naturalizes THC. Often Americans come down to Amsterdam to hit the coffeeshops and get all spaced out because the Dutch stuff is ways stronger, trick I learned from a police officer; sit them down and give them 1 or 2 cokes and they will be fine in 15 minutes. With regards to DUI, being under the influence of marijuna or any other drug, even prescribed drugs are all considered DUI and you will loose your license in the Netherlands. -

Demetrius Bell - Now an Eagle

That's what other articles stated as well, apparently teams are offering him RT starter money with the idea of having a solid backup at LT. Surprises me somewhat unless RT is a position that is less injury prone. He clearly has shown last year that he can be a starter caliber LT; 0.5 sack allowed in what was it 6 games? -
I hear Skooby traded his BMW for a Cooper only to find out he was still driving BMW.

Great idea, if only they would do it in the former NFL Europe cities. I hope they don't make the mistake the NFL did with NFL Europe (which was turning over the complete rosters every year, making it very hard for fans to bind with the players). Another mistake NFL Europe made was that their players would miss out the OTA's and only have one week off for training camp, the league needs to be finished with two weeks off before OTA's start if they trully want to operate as a minor league and allow players to sign with NFL teams. $3000-3500 per game is what NFL Europe players would get paid a month (QBs were an exception though), given the fact that the UFL with known names on the field and a TV deal with Comcast seems to be destined for chapter-11 this year and the offcial reason for folding NFL Europe was that it was turning $10,- million a year in losses ($20 million income) with Amsterdam and Cologne being the main culprits (allthough Amsterdam greatly improved in the last 2 seasons, Cologne was a lost cause (too close to Rhein Fire)), with that in mind USFL seems to be destined to fail financially before they even get off the ground (I still believe the only reason NFL Europe was folded was because the new commish (Goodell) wanted to make a statement (standard new-CEO practise; sacrifice the love child of your predescor). The ideal scenario for a spring league with a revised NFL Europe format should be 1. Takes place in the spring and finishes 2 weeks before OTA's start. 2.League should consist of 16 teams (4 divisions of 4, 6 games, numbers 1 and 2 get to compete in playoffs (3 more games), 2 pre-season games to get the level of play up to par). 3. Each team should be bound to one AFC team and one NFC team. 4. Those AFC and NFC teams commit their PS and their 3rd QB to those teams without the teams having the obligation to take them. 5. Coaching and staffing should be on the NFL level (AFC and NFC teams can place interns for developing their FO staff). 6. Coaches and staffing should be 100% free to play and choose who they want. 7. Rules should equal the NFL rules. 8. Pre-season games lasting 2 quarters , 1 quarter - 10 minute break -1 quarter. 4 teams to play in single stadium for preseason games. 9. Pre-season games to be played in the stadiums of the teams not having made the playoffs the year before (1 game per such team), including their home team. 10. Sponsoring NFC/AFC teams allowed to make 3 players of their regular roster available (to cover PS guys they want to develop further but who had been called up to the roster for depth). I'll stop dreaming now... :/ NFL Europe alone proofs that statement false. The number of pro-bowl players that were developed in NFL Europe was staggering. At it's height the Superbowl featured 22 players with NFL Europe experience. Scouting is not an exact science, some guys only get there after they have been rejected by the NFL or because they start developing into NFL material a little bit later then others. It's been announced as a spring league. Also it didnt work out for NFL Europe, a lot of the players returning werent given a roster spot because they allready had 11 games under their belt (not fresh enough to last a season), missed OTA's. As a result the NFL Europe players that made it did so often in the year after they played in NFL Europe.

No worries, appreciate the input. Can't say I'm a big fan of sci-fi dating back that far as I struggle for finding it to contextual to the timeframe it was written in. I tried reading Orwell a couple of times but never managed to finish one. It's also the more rigid use of the english language that makes me struggle with them. Maybe I'm just more into the modern consumption style english written books. Heh, makes me think of Iron Maiden... Read most of Jules Verne his work (in Dutch translation) back when I wsa a kid, loved them back then, not sure if I'd still enjoy them. On the topic of sci-fi books, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imajica Imajica by Clive Barker was also a great read.

Ahhhhhh, I'm European hence I dont get ABC News... I dont know about the movie as I said in my post, i watched the trailer on youtube and looked it up on IMDB after having read the books but can't judge based on the user reviews wether or not it's a good movie or not, just that it has some critical content missing from the story and that a whole section has been filmed in the blair witch project style. I looked up John Carter and all I could find was this 1911 book with comics that ceased in the 40's. Hence you had me seriously confused with that comment lol.

A serious 4th option is that ancient civilizations also featured fiction writers /wall art for entertainment such as our society today does... That said humans always try to explain the unexplainable by referencing it to known and accepted occurences, this results in Chinese describing firebreathing, earth rumbling, flying Dragons that bring their leaders and the romans talking about firey flying carts whilst the greek talked about gods arriving by fire and lightning whilst the ground shook. We now start to re-reference those occurences with flying vehicles, question is though is our current frame of reference correct? Or are we still being silly earthlings that try to fictionalize something in order to make sense of it. Something else that has me pondering related to all this is that humans as we are today given our explosive reproduction cant be mathmatically around for too long unless major resets have happened (of which there are stories to be found, such as the great flood), first writings date back 30k years. Populqation discussion based on numbers: http://www.ldolphin.org/popul.html The problem with series like Ancient Aliens is that they present like it is all set in stone and that there is no discussion to be had about it being true or not which is most likely a reaction to the other side disregarding theories like these completly (it's a marketing struggle). Anyway not so much related to the Ancient Aliens series but I seriously wouldnt be surprised if we turn out to be a genepool farm for some extraterrestial race (made in the likeness of God) and UFO's are basicly extraterrestial agriculural machines.

Why is it stupid?!? They guy did what every teenager dreams off. Stop being jealous or you'd rather see teenage kids murdering entire schools?

Figured I'd start a thread where people can share books they recently read and loved/recommened. Personally I just read The Hunger Games triology, 3 days, 1 book a night, man this must have been one of the best suspense sci-fi\thrillers I've read. Basicly the story revolves around a 16 year old girl who lives in a post apocalyptic world where there is one capital that rules 12 provinces/districts. As a condition of a truce after a revolt each district is to send 2 children between the age of 12 to 18 to the capital to fight in a yearly live televised event where those contestents will have to fight to the death untill one of them survives. Aside from the books being filled with action and suspense they shine in relaying the struggles of a 16 year old. Great deep moral, love, betrayal and politics aside from it being a great suspense and action series, addictively gripping. Definitely worth reading! 9/10. Ps. also a major movie in theaters around the world (released today), IMDB ratings of the movie show that you either love or hate the movie (havent seen the movie myself), having read some of the spoilers of the movie, I'd recommend reading the books first since a lot of what makes the story great has been left out of the movie in order to make it PG13 compliant (books are R rated).

Furious parents (moms) pull kids from nursery school
bladiebla replied to Beerball's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I guess the parents prefer a former mercenary or something. Seriously what is with the sexphobia in the States. The bodies of murdered or killed people are being shown around the clock yet when someone is a bit too sexy it's drama. -
It is shown on National Geographic over here (Europe). I dont even know what H2 is other then it most likely being a network.
