Much respect to Wilfork, boy am I glad he's out of the AFC East! -

That's a pretty good piece, bleacher wise. Thanks for linking! -
Chris Brown - Bills "Reporter"
bladiebla replied to Estelle Getty's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I find it funny that you class him as a journalist when he is nothing more then a team reporter with a journalistic background (and he's good at it!). You wouldn't expect a Republican or Democrat hired reporter to publish unbiased journalistic pieces either (in case you are, you shouldn't lol). John Wawrow is a journalist, and as such neutral and publishes well sourced articles. Chris Brown is a reporter and publishes biased pieces that tend to serve the common purpose of making the team look better (through good times and through controversy). -
Chris Brown - Bills "Reporter"

Hell jeah! -
I agree that he got some undeserved praise, however outside of the rookie mistakes (which he made plenty of), he certainly looked to have potential. So much can change for these guys in the offseason with their rookie season under their belt. We need help for sure, and we'll prolly spend most of our picks on o-line guys. If Urbik goes back to being a backup G then I'm starting to feel confident that the line might actually turn out to be decent this year.

Pears is a good backup RT with experience at all other positions so solid depth signing by the niners I'd say.

Given the WRs we have on our roster I'd say Goodwin is safe as are Watkins, Woods, Harvin and Easley (ST, 6th WR). Then again the FO might be fed up with his injury track record. Prolly will end up being a 4 way fight for 2 spots between Goodwin vs. Thigpen and Hogan vs. Brown. -
One year extension for Kyle -- Williams, that is...

Bills to trade Kiko Alonso for LeSean McCoy
bladiebla replied to CNY315's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He was a very big part of the improved run defense. Bills would love to have him back but he wants to play 3 downs not 2 and as such has said he is going to test FA. I still think there are good odds that he'll return if he can't find a bigger role elsewhere. -
Bills to trade Kiko Alonso for LeSean McCoy

Check his september stats. I clearly said garbage behind an injured o-line. Obviously he's been great behind a good to great line (saying good to great since his performance could in fact inflate that of the o-line). -
Bills to trade Kiko Alonso for LeSean McCoy

1. NBC reported him being unhappy about (reworked deal makes that point moot but still): http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/03/04/mccoy-reportedly-isnt-happy-about-being-traded-to-buffalo/ 2. True enough, but this guy just blew out his knee for the second time in his career and also has 1 serious concussion in his name. Time will tell. 3. I wasnt aware of those reports at the time of posting and I agree with you on that point, especially in light of the reworked deal. It could have been leaked to the media as part of contract talks. 4. My definition of garbage are his september 2014 stats when the Eagles line was plagued with injuries. 5. Jup a true great all round RB is likely to go first or second even though they have been at a lower value these past few drafts, then again it may proof to be a continuing trend. Also note that McCoy is not a great blocker at all. Certainly not FredEx level. 6. It certainly seems I did... I swear I read that there was some exchange of undisclosed draft picks to go along with the trade instead of it being a straight up swap. In the end I hope this trade works out great and I hope I have been worrying over nothing, but I still have a somewhat nagging feeling about this trade that just won't go away, the main reason being his september stats and his fumbles lost (then again I dont know the circumstances of those fumbles). You have a great point with trusting Whaley his LB evaluation skills given his Pittsburg background. -
Fred Jackson cut??(UPDATE: Pegula says Hell To The No)

Bills can win Superbowl with EJ

I don't think Flacco belongs in that list. -
Jerry Hughes signs 5-year deal with Bills
bladiebla replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Totally unrealistic.... BUT I wish the D-Line would come together and offer the Bills a full D-line deal that restructures Mario extends all of them for 4 years or so and provides all of them a rate that they themselves deem honest between themselves on the premises that all their contracts are vioded if one of them is cut or traded. -
Bills to trade Kiko Alonso for LeSean McCoy
bladiebla replied to CNY315's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No, I'm dead serious, would thrown in a smiley or 2 had I been sarcastic. God knows I can be wrong but those are my honest feelings about this trade even after letting it sink for all this time. As much as I like Bradham as a hard hitter, he's no Alonso. Same goes for Powell. Alonso is something special, dude is everywhere. Sure McCoy is too, so it comes down to whichever is harder to find, in my book that'd be Alonso. Which part? His 2.3 average behind an injured line? -
Bills to trade Kiko Alonso for LeSean McCoy
bladiebla replied to CNY315's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This trade worries me, first of all we're getting a player that is vocal about not wanting to come, secondly that player only has about 2-3 years left in the tank, thirdly the player that we're trading away wants to be here fourthly the player we're getting performed like garbage behind a bad line fifthly runningbacks can be gotten cheap in the draft nowadays, last couple of drafts they didnt start coming off untill 3rd and 4th round sixthly we'd better be getting a first rounder back with those undisclosed picks seventhly we've been trying to get pro bowl talent level LB's for years now and when we finally get one we let him go after one season played. Other thoughts, pro bowl versus pro bowl potential is a wash imho. Once Rex is gone (2-3 years) we'll be regretting this trade badly. Why in the world do we trade away which is arguably one of our best players. I'm struggling to see anything positive coming out of this trade; sure he's a FredEx replacement that is needed but given how well a RB can perform coming out of the draft and Fred having one more year in him that should be ample time to get the WR skills of a draftee up to speed come season 2. LB's take time to develop, having one that performs so well straight out of the draft is rather rare and a show of huge further potential. I know the media and eagles fans are portraying McCoy as the better player but I think that time will proof it to be the other way around. Then the Hughes trade aside, we always seem to get the short end of the straw in these type of deals. -
Shaun Hill: Polian would take a hard look
bladiebla replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Rather have Shaun Hill then McCown, then again, all I want is some Amsterdam Admirals on the roster... Besides I met Shaun Hill in person at the Dutch Superbowl party. -
Bills listed at over/under 8.5 wins for 2015
bladiebla replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
15.5 is what I'm setting the over/under! -
Lol, it is the point. Other then an allready established hall of fame kind of QB that still has a few years left in him not a single QB will survive the social media pressure, fan pressure and media pressure because the entire Buffalo area is one unwelcoming hostile place to be as a QB. We need to rally behind our QB instead of being hyper critical into their face. A rookie QB is going to cost you games, same for a rookie RB which will cost you a game as well as rookie WRs which will cost you games. The overly critical environment that is Buffalo with regards to the QB position is making things worse throughout, we need to create an environment that is contributing to the solution. Tweeting all players that your rookie QB should be benched after he made a game deciding mistake gets under the skin of the team, certainly when that is picked up and further escalated by the press and repeated with a second game deciding mistake. I'm not saying we can't discuss the flaws and mistakes made by our rook QBs, but the things is that is not even happening anymore; it's out right bench him yesterday cries from a lot of people and that doesnt go unnoticed. Hardly ever do we discuss the great plays made by the rooks, they get a short mention in gameday threads but that is where it ends. The only way the fans give props is when the QB plays a flawless game and pulls out the win, scratch the win and he'll still hear he needs to be benched. Given a loss the next week, back are the benchcallers. The best a rook QB with the Bills can hope for is silence. At this point I'm nearly convinced that even when we get a QB that brings us the Super Bowl there still will be fans calling for him to be benched and how well the season could have been with QB Magical X. News flash, did you see Aaron Rodgers this year against us? Or better yet Rodgers as the backup of Favre (we would have run that inferior backup QB outta town).
-
You're missing the point. Some fans becomes a large group of fans rather quickly and seems to become so even more quickly with every rook we're giving a shot. As soon as the fan noise get's loud enough (believe it or not but reporters do visit messageboards to get a feel for what sentiment they should be feeding of for their next article/column. Those press articles escalate into directly questioning the QB, to the point where it's as loud as the pressure he has on himself to perform as well as pressure from the organisation. It's the escalation that is fueled when a large portion of the fanbase is being unrealistic. In the end a QB is a human being, it will effect him. In a way that's what I'm saying yes, but this goes back to other rooks as well. When was the last time one was given enough time to actually develop into the franchise guy? I was always opposed to the benching of EJ, I rather would have suffered through a year of the troubles the Jets faced. The only thing good about the benching of EJ in retrospect is that now Orton took the flag for a crappy playbook/bad o-oline/rookie receiving core. The bad thing is that they took away a lot of reps that EJ needed badly, both behind the scenes as well as on the field. Now we'll be in year 3 of EJ with him still not being anything other then a rookie but he'll be judged like a veteran for sure.
-
The truth of the matter is that a large portion of the fanbase is a major part of the problems with the QB position. A portion of the fans expect a hall of fame looking QB coming right out of college, they have no patience left to see the position developed. Then as the rookie in question continues to grow through making mistakes, the group gets larger which in turn makes the resistance against the QB larger which translates into more pressure on the rook as well as confidence issues when said things dont work out straight away, which then leads to the benching/cutting of said rook. And then the circle restarts, for another 15 years?
