Allen had Dawkins shoved into him and hit his left shoulder right as he was throwing. Didn't really have anything to do with being flat footed. If you are throwing and you get your other shoulder hit backwards forcefully, the ball is just going to end up short. That's just physics.

Divisional Playoffs - Chiefs at Bills - Post game thread

In all fariness, there are not a lot of teams recently that can point to their D being the difference in playoff games with the way the NFL is designed these days. It favors the offense pretty heavily. See the Chiefs - Eagles Super Bowl last year. -

They gave up 9 yards a play for most almost the entire game for God's sake, they were WAY worse! Think the Chiefs ended at 7.7 Yards per Play but that is still terrible. The only reason it didn't seem that bad is because the Bills had the ball so much and ran like 30 more plays than the Chiefs did to get almost the exact same yardage total. I think the Bill ended up with like 7 more yards than the Chiefs did for the game. -

Just shows how insanely close the margins are in these type of games. A split second on that play turns it from an incompletion to a TD. -

Just not true. Beat Baltimore 17-3. Beat Pats 47-17. Beat Steelers 31-17. I thought all those were pretty good performances defensively. Steelers literally only made it close because the Bills fielded a preseason D for much of the 2nd half. -

Wow...this is pretty crazy if true....poster claims it has been confirmed. -
Greg Joseph?

Am I the only one who thinks that if Cook bounced that outside he might have scored? There was lilterally nobody outside the last guy on the line and he crashed down hard. Cook might have jogged into the endzone, or at the very least got tackled inside the 10 by the safety coming over. They had 9 guys on the LOS, there was nobody past the first wave.

Guess we are waiting til 2026.

Has Diggs ever shown up past the wildcard round for the Bills? 2023 - Divisional Round against KC: 3 catches on 8 targets for 21 yards. 2022 - Divisional Round against CIN: 4 catches on 10 targets for 35 yards. 2021 - Divisional Round against KC: 3 catches on 6 targets for 7 yards. 2020 - Divisional Round against BAL: 8 catches on 11 targets for 106 yards, 1 TD 2020 - AFC Champ Game against KC: 6 catches on 11 targets for 77 yards Seems the last 3 seasons outside the wildcard round he has pulled a disappearing act. I mean 10 catches on 24 targets with only 63 yards and 0 TDs? That is pretty abysmal for a #1 WR on a team that scores the way we do.

Because you never make assumptions that you will have another opportunity at a later time for a TD when it's available right now. Anything could have happened. A sack, tipped ball INT, a receiver fumbling the ball, etc... Playing like you "know" you can just score at some later time isn't a luxury you get in the NFL.

Chiefs had 10 men on the field, Bills had 8 blockers to 6 rushers for the Chiefs. Should have been an easy first down. Honestly inexcusable they didn't get it done well enough.
-
For a lot more money than we were willing to give him...the Chiefs passed too.
-
I think he can. He did in college. He gets separation. Led the NFL in average yards of separation against man coverage his rookie year and was likely high again this year. Haven't seen those numbers come out yet.

Gonna likely step into Davis #2 role next year and likely will put up 800+ yards in it. I have high hopes for him. The dude is a baller.
-
Chiefs had 10 guys on the punt return and the Bills had an 8 person to 6 person advantage in blockers versus rushers. Honestly it was the right call and really inexcusable they got blown up the way they did.

Davis - GONE Hyde - Maybe a cheap deal to come back? Floyd - GONE - likely too expensive after the season he put up with double digit sacks Dodson - probably resigned for depth, not likely a huge payday awaiting him Jackson - probably resigned for depth, not likely a huge payday awaiting him AJE - Unsure...could go either way...might be a team out there that values him and pays him more than the Bills can afford. Rapp - GONE - made a great play against Miami in week 18 but was best known for taking out our own players throughout the season with friendly fire on D Jones - Need to figure out a way to resign him...he is so so good, they CANNOT afford to lose him. Settle - GONE - played decent this year but never became what they thought they would be getting Phillips - GONE - liability against the run and wasn't that dominant this year against the pass like last year - always seem to injure himself diving at QBs. Joseph - GONE - he was a stopgap mostly Lawson - could probably get his resigned for a decent price. Quality edge setter usually in the run game. Sherfield - GONE - please go. Edwards - could probably resign him for depth unless another team views him as a starter and is willing to pay him like one. Murray - GONE - wrong side of 30, was ineffective late in the year Johnson - would like to see him resigned...quality depth player who made things happen every time he touched the ball. Likely won't command a huge deal in UFA Harris - GONE - might have to retire anyways Lewis - probably resign as a depth player. Has little market as a UFA Allen - GONE - Bills unlikely to keep backups more than a year unless they get a rookie.

Shakir was open by 3-4 yards in the endzone for a TD and Allen couldn't step into the throw with Jones in his face...but agree, they need to find guys that can get open. I wouldn't hate it if they went WR with picks 1 and 2. McD can turn anyone into a pretty good player at DB so they don't need to be wasting high picks there.
-
Bernard is the one who makes the adjustments for them. Not surprising the on field adjustments were terrible. I wouldn't care if the Bills went WRin round 1 AND 2 this year. The way McD can basically turn 6th and 7th round DBs into good players, they can ill afford to waste high picks on D while not addressing WR again big time.
-
Asking if they can speed up the new stadium so they can get off the old Erie Native American burial ground the current one is on.
-
They might bring in a kicker, but he isn't getting cut. They can't afford to do it.
-
We win this game with Bernard.

Divisional Playoffs - Chiefs at Bills - Post game thread

Just getting sick of the Bills missing huge numbers of key players by the end of the season year after year while other teams are pretty much healthy. The D clearly was compromised heavily and was bascially a shell of itself. Hard not to be when you are down to your 3rd string LB playing with a torn labrum and then a dude off the practice squad trying to cover Kelce much of the game. Talk about a mismatch. Douglas was also a liability tonight...he couldn't run or change directions very well...Elam should have been playing for him in the 2nd half. -

Ehh...I don't know. This game came down to players making/not making plays when needed and Allen getting hit as he threw to wide open Shakir in the end zone. At some point, the players have to be the ones to make the difference. -

Had a TD to Shakir that ended up short due to being hit as he threw by Chris Jones...I can't really complain about it...just a good play by the DT who was mostly silent all night long. Multiple drops on long dimes by Allen to Sherfield and then to Diggs. McD doesn't have anything to do with that. He was aggressive all night, I can't really pin this on him. The D simply was being held together by duct tape and even the guys who were playing hurt were clearly not anywhere near 100%. Douglas was a liability out there and should have been subbed for Elam, IMO.
