BUT...the majority of underclassmen coming out are higher caliber talents than the ones that typically stay in, so the rate of them being selected earlier would be much higher. The rookie salary cap. Basically everybody knows what they are going to get paid at every position in the draft from signing bonus, to total contract value, to guaranteed money. No negotiating on that...they can negotiate things like offset language, etc, but that's it. It's why you see almost no holdouts anymore of rookies because it's set in stone. Only ones are fighting over offset language usually. Mostly sports that nobody cares about.

This is so embarrassing for these teams... Two financial nuggets that stood out, given that they are tied to billion-dollar franchises: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who finished 24th overall, charged non-starting players with less than four years of experience a fee of $1,750 if they wanted to opt out of having a roommate in their hotel room prior to games. And the Chargers offered a discount on gameday daycare services: $75 for the first child and $50 for each additional child.

But it will be hurting it in perpetuity while NIL deals are allowed, so technically it IS hurting the class every year. It's not like the players staying in this year will enter the draft and then all the other underclassmen in next year's draft won't exhibit the same behavior and enter the draft also. They will be staying in too.

Seems like more and more kids are staying in college instead of declaring early...this year there were only 58 underclassmen who declared for the draft this year. Last year there were 82. In 2019, before the NIL deals were allowed 135 declared... Caleb Williams reportedly made $10 million in endorsement and NIL deals the past 2 years at USC, meaning overall in his first 4 years in the NFL, he will be taking a slight PAYCUT to play(not factoring in endorsement/commercial deals, which could push him over that). Williams will make a little over $38.5 million over the first 4 years if he is selected #1 overall as he is expected to be. If he doesn't get taken 1st overall, every pick beneath that his money starts to dwindle. If he isn't top 5, he will make under $30 million his first 4 seasons total. This is for the #1 player on most boards...now imagine a player who has a good NIL deal that might only be a 2nd or 3rd round pick but is a huge deal in college where he plays...he could easily make more playing college football than he does in the NFL to start out. Crazy to think about, but NIL deals could be hurting the talent pool in the draft as more kids decide to stay in college. https://sports.yahoo.com/report-potential-no-1-nfl-draft-pick-caleb-williams-made-approximately-10-million-in-nil-deals-at-usc-164614055.html

Head Coaching Salaries Exploding in NFL lately?
Big Turk replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall
That may be so, but this was a few days ago and he isn't currently employed as a HC anywhere so he wasn't talked about. -
I'd much rather they extend Douglas to bring that cap hit down than release him. Why would you trade for a guy and give up a 3rd to cut him?

What realistic Free Agents are on your wishlist for the Bills?
Big Turk replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall
Hard to really say at this point until we see what Beane does to create cap room via cuts, restructures, and paycuts. It might not be realistic to expect much other than bargain basement bin UFA's. -
Hard to know exact figures since they don't officially get released, but was listening to the JR Sports Brief show driving home the other night and he was talking about how rumors are swirling that Andy Reid will likely be getting an extension that makes him the highest paid coach in the NFL(and it's well deserved, BTW), and then he started talking about head coaching salaries and how they have exploded over recent years since teams realize they can get competitive advantages and they don't count against the cap. He said that sources have told him over half of the NFL head coaches now make 15+ million a year and that Sean Payton is the highest paid coach, getting $18-20 million from the Broncos. Is this really true? I guess it wouldn't be surprising with the proliferation of the salary cap and how much money the teams are generating that the coaches would be getting paid significantly more as well, but it still was shocking to hear that... Got me curious if McD is in the richer half or poorer half now.

Mecole Hardman Whistleblower on KC Tampering!
Big Turk replied to Warriorspikes51's topic in The Stadium Wall
Hilarious he is talking about the 49ers "not knowing the rules" when he admitted afterwards he didn't know he won the Super Bowl until Mahomes told him after he scored. -

NFL considering adopting XFL kickoff rules
Big Turk replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don't like so many players lined up within such a small area of each other. Would like to see some staggering involved to prevent a returner from breaking thru the first line and being nothing but daylight in front of him with a slow kicker trying to catch him. Maybe have 6 players lined up where they are now and the other 4 lined up 10-15 yards farther back? -
I've seen it before and teared up, was watching it again on Disney+ as it was suggested for things to watch and I am tearing up again...that one always gets me.

Intrigue Builds Over Eagles' 2023 Late Season Collapse
Big Turk replied to stuvian's topic in The Stadium Wall
The truth is the Eagles did not look great most of the season and got extremely lucky in several of their wins...MVS drops a wide open winning TD most likely against the Chiefs. Davis/Allen not on the same page on winning OT TD....a few other games I cannot remember now...but the point is, that team easily could have been 6-4 instead of 10-0. If anything, they just regressed to the mean over the last part of the year. -
That's surprising honestly...gonna cost them a lot of money for that one. Somewhere in the $20-21 million a year range, and they are already paying Chase. Doesn't seem very smart considering they are in perfect position to draft a stud WR in a loaded draft...perhaps they still do it and let him develop as a #3 before Higgins leaves next year..
