Can Sean McDermott Coach the Bills to a Championship?
Big Turk replied to jethro_tull's topic in The Stadium Wall
Who knows? History would say, eventually yes. Probably won't be on the timeframe many posters want tho -
Beane with a shot fired... So there is no time to let Dorsey learn but there is time to go backwards due to scheme changes, Allen learning a new system and the potential that the new OC might not be as good or use the personnel properly? I don't think some of you know what you are asking for.

A day later, I'm still in the camp of cleaning house.
Big Turk replied to Pine Barrens Mafia's topic in The Stadium Wall
That's never happening. Not only is it idiotic, you would take several steps backwards due to scheme changes and players that don't fit those schemes. There is no "timeline" for when the dam will finally break in terms of getting thru the AFC championship game but history shows that will usually happen if knee jerk reactions don't prevent it. -
Metcalf is just as inconsistent as Davis is.
-
I mean...he could absolutely get better. He could stay stagnant or simply be who he is. An inconsistent player who will have some big games and some big catches but will lose focus during the year as well. We could do worse than 830 yards and 7 TDs, but we could also improve on it... Perhaps they think he can improve at focusing better throughout the season as it was his first shot at a larger role on offense. That being said...I think we need a more dynamic player at that position. Gabe is fantastic as a deep threat and catching the ball along the sidelines, but he doesn't get separation. I say he plays as a #3 next year and then gets replaced the following season. Even if he starts as the #2 but then starts ceding playing time to the rookie as the year goes on as he gets more comfortable role, I would be fine with that.

It better be WR

Shaq ain't having none of it. Neither is Stef's little bro.
-
Not to go be reckless with tho. To go sign their own players and fill in around them.

I highly doubt they are cutting Morse...the line already needs help enough without cutting one of the two players who played well for the most part. It's hard to fix something by creating an even bigger problem to fix. I agree with the other 2 cuts. They could instantly fix their slot receiver problem by drafting Boston College WR Zay Flowers. Dude is Tyreek Hill lite...same build, same height, slightly slower(4.37), slightly less change of direction quickness but still just video game like...dude would be a threat to take the ball to the house any time he touched it. Could change everything for the Bills on offense and could force the nightmare scenario of choosing to cover the slot guy who can take anything to the house or leaving Davis one on one on the outside to go deep. That's not even factoring in Diggs who can do it all. I don't know the FA signings at all really. I do know the Bills love signing promising young edge rushers that have showed good production in limited snaps but they don't usually amount to much. I am good with both those Bills FA signings. Lawson was very good this year and plays a key role in run D. Obviously G is a need. Not sure if Will Hernandez is much of an upgrade. Seems the Bills bring in budget players on the OLine every year and every year we have the same issue when they suck. Would like to see 2nd round pick devoted to somewhere on the OLine. They don't have a lot of money to work with, what are you expecting them to do? Go sign a $15 million guard? They have JA, they are never really in trouble while he's here.

Are the Bills committed to Ed Oliver in 2023?
Big Turk replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall
Name one person that played a great game Sunday? The entire team didn't have it. Hard to single out one player in that game as "bad". They all were bad. -
Oh?

He will 100% be a Bill next year. It's fully guaranteed and there is a $0 cap savings if cut. He is a pretty good player. Dude may have won the Detroit game for us. Why the hell would the Bills cut a good player they drafted and gave a 5th year option to, get $0 cap savings and then have to pay more to sign a player to take his place who likely won't be as good? This thread shouldn't even be a thread. The nonsesicality of it is astounding. -
Tre is that style...dude is all over people normally...why the hell play him that far back?? So it's better to give up a bunch of free yards and not even try?

IMO, Stanley Cup is the hardest trophy to win in any sport. No byes, and seeding doesn't always matter. An 8 seed can legit beat a 1 seed. 4 rounds, best of 7 in each round.

Free Agents and Offseason Situation
Big Turk replied to BillsFanForever19's topic in The Stadium Wall
Well the AI Bot ChatGPT has some good suggestions for managing the cap 😂😂 What is the best way to manage the salary cap in the NFL? Managing the salary cap in the NFL is a complex task that requires careful planning and strategic decision-making. Some key strategies for managing the salary cap in the NFL include: 1) Prioritizing long-term contracts: Teams can create more cap space by signing players to long-term contracts, which spread out the salary cap hit over multiple years. 2) Using performance-based incentives: Teams can include performance-based incentives in contracts, which allow them to pay players more if they meet certain performance benchmarks. 3) Managing dead cap space: Dead cap space is the amount of money a team must pay to players no longer on the roster. Teams can manage dead cap space by structuring contracts in a way that limits the amount of dead cap space created when a player is released. 4) Making smart cuts: Teams must make difficult decisions when players do not meet expectations or when a team is in a salary cap crunch. Cutting a high-priced player can be a way to create cap space. 5) Utilizing Restructuring: Restructuring a player's contract can also be an effective way to create cap space. By converting some of a player's salary into a signing bonus, teams can spread the cap hit over multiple years. 6) Keeping an eye on the future: Teams must constantly be aware of future salary cap ramifications as they make decisions today. This means keeping an eye on the contracts of key players that will be up soon and the cap space they will have available in the future. Ultimately, managing the salary cap in the NFL is a challenging task that requires teams to make difficult decisions, balance short-term needs with long-term goals, and stay on top of the ever-changing salary cap landscape -
Bill O’Brien - thoughts about him as OC?

Bengals will be the team to beat for years to come
Big Turk replied to Niagara Dude's topic in The Stadium Wall
Sounds good but there is no way to know this and they will have salary cap issues soon enough of their own and perhaps worse than the Bills since Burrow will likely become the highest paid QB in the NFL which will be a lot higher than it is now. Higgins and Boyd are UFAs after next year, Burrow will be up for his new deal after that. -
I’m over this defensive scheme. Bring in a new DC.

Is it really the scheme? Or is it they just get super passive in the playoffs instead of being aggressive like the regular season? How else do you explain them holding KC to 20 points twice in the regular season but then allowing 38 and 42 points to the same team in the playoffs? -
13 Seconds Will Sting for a While Longer...

That's someone who lives in WNY and had well over 100" of snow already talk...along with all the other crap on top of that. -

We are done with RB drafting in early rounds. I want Boston College WR Zay Flowers...Cheetah Lite. Same height, build and slightly slower than Hill with slightly less change of direction abilities but still crazy nonetheless. Runs a 4.37 40.

2023 Offseason Primer: State of the Franchise
Big Turk replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall
But they never had anything close to the stats this defense does in terms of ranking during the year. And maybe that's the point...you need star players in the playoffs that can take over games, not just a good system with good scheme fit players. -

Allen said today he will not need surgery and that rest and recovery will be enough.
