Yeah but back in the day, HOF level play at QB was only throwing 5 more INTs than TDs instead of 20 more and completing 50% of your passes instead of 40% . Essentially these players would have a QB rating of like 50.

This sounds like an idiotic stance to take after you trade for a player... He tells you he wants a new contract, you say hell no, then trade for him anyway, and then act surprised when he holds out and requests a trade? What type of an idiot makes a move like this knowing there is like a 1% chance of this working out? The book on McCaffery before he went to the 49ers was he was amazing but at some point he will be out for the year. Chicago has never really had a franchise QB in its history so if you get drafted by then, there is a good chance you will end up like the rest of the QBs they have had over the last 100+ years...on a second contract somewhere else.

Why do people care so much about backup QBs? Our chance to win a SB goes out the window if Allen goes down to near ZERO, so unless they have a Nick Foles type who can catch lightning in a bottle and have the best games of his life in the playoffs it won't matter much. I don't see any of those being a Nick Foles type...more of a trash can type player
