Mahomes is also running more than ever and using his legs to pick up big chunks. Allen needs to get back to doing the same and the offense needs to encourage him to do so. They have gone too far in the other direction of trying to "play it safe" with him. There needs to be somewhere in the middle and this assuredly isn't it.

The identity on offense was to let Allen do whatever he felt was best on a play and also use him in the designed run game. They have literally cut their nose off to spite their face on offense by neutering him in the way they have. Yes he is taking "less hits", but the offense is also much easier to defend now than when Allen was consistently a running threat and teams had to spend significant time preparing for those designed runs. Do teams even bother anymore? I don't know if we have seen one yet other than maybe a draw here or there and a few QB sneaks on short yardage. Where is the QB Power? The QB Sweep? Get the D at least preparing for that again even if you aren't going to use it every game. Allen seems so hesitant to run now, it's like he would rather try and throw up a pass with a 5% chance of being completed than take off running. That was a HUGE part of his game and teams are no longer really forced to defend that much anymore. They want to "fix" the offense? Then bring back the Allen runs. I'm sorry, this is who your QB is. THAT'S your identity on offense. You have an unstoppable force back there that can make you wrong no matter what you try and do on defense. Mahomes is running more than he ever has and it seems to be working. Allen is running less than he ever has and it isn't...at least not in the first half.

Bernard/Williams >>> Edmunds/Milano by the end of the regular season
Big Turk replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall
Bernard did put up stats in 3 games that took Edmunds 46 games to do. -
Honestly so much better its mind boggling. And I watched every game Kelly played here. I don't even think Kelly himself would argue that.

At his best, Hurts is a 70% Allen who can't run over and thru players the same way or hurdle them.

And I am sure they will just step right in and not miss a beat right?

I thought they already said ACL was fine You realize the Pats have among the worst OLine and the worst running game in the NFL this year right? It's not like normal where they still can run the ball. They are 31st in both running and passing this year and Stephenson hasn't even hit 60 yards in a game and is averaging under 3 YPC. For 125 yards. Good luck.

And that is why the Bills plan of disrupting Tua's first read and the timing of the offense against Miami was so successful.

Isn't Palms one of those disguised coverages that tries to show you one thing pre-snap and another with the rotation post snap? Seem to remember seeing breakdowns showing the Bills generate a lot of their INT's out of Palms. Agree with the athleticism point...you could use their athleticism against them by getting them flowing the wrong way real quick and get them out of a play faster to go back the other way.

Bernard/Williams >>> Edmunds/Milano by the end of the regular season
Big Turk replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall
2 games in, Bernard had already been the best player on the field in a game for either team. Was Edmunds ever that in any game in 5 years? There is also this... -
Don't think anyone should be surprised at Cook's higher YPC on gap runs...Bills have ONLY been consistently successful running with gap scheme for years. At least this year they didn't try to force zone down the OLine's throat and have been mostly gap, although perhaps some of the struggles the last few weeks running have been from attempting more zone runs?

Bernard being a wash with Edmunds is pretty laughable. -
Didn't think it would be that important, but clearly it was. That's why they play the games on the field and not on paper.

He is a great twitter follow for this, btw...

nice. Did he say anything else about the Harris injury? Daboll didn't know every answer to the test that he could give the DC with Miami tho. Wink Martindale was coaching D against us like he just got kicked off Tic Tac Dough.

I've had what I can only imagine was similar to turf toe and it hurt so bad I couldn't even put any pressure on it to walk...couldn't even imagine trying to run and play football on something like that.

Baltimore ALWAYS have tons of injuries and former players have BLASTED their training staff on social media over the past 2 years for their rehab/training protocols which they claim get them injured more frequently and end up making them get hurt worse by trying to rush them back. Also were voted the worst training staff in the NFL by players so that's not nothing either. Injury management/prevention is definitely a thing that can be controlled to a larger degree than most people think. Not the obvious serious injuries like tears and freak plays where someone rolls up on a player, etc, but in terms of making sure a slight injury doesn't turn into a moderate injury and a moderate injury doesn't turn into a season-ending injury, etc, it definitely can be and some teams do a far better job of that than others in terms of prioritizing treatments, type of treatments, rest days, etc.
