  1. I agree with Dr. K and San Jose Bills Fan... As far as morale, I didn't really have any expectations coming into this season.. I thought it would be another bad year... The fast start surprised me, but didn't raise my expectations... I know with the Bills, a free fall can occur at any moment no matter how they start... As usual with this team, injuries certainly played a part and depth is always a concern... Especially with a new, rebuilding regime.. Haven't we seen this team lose at every level and in every way possible, no matter the improbability..? I'll never give up on this team, they are in my blood... But I've long since learned not to have high expectations. That way, if they finally do have a playoff season, I'll be pleasantly surprised.
  2. And just like that, its a game again...
  3. Yeah, I'm in L.A. too... They've blacked out S.D. games before on the Sunday Ticket... I've gotten to see some of the game on the Red Zone Channel, but based off the score so far maybe its not so bad missing this one...
  4. This is gonna be a tall order... Looks like the monkeys swing from the same tree on this one, as I agree with Code... Gailey has to control the clock and this is a great opportunity for Spiller to step it up... Keep the ball out of Rivers hands and keep guys like Dareus and Barnett rested... And can we see an occasional blitz for criminy sakes?!?! The real problem for Buffalo is gonna be pressuring Rivers and stopping Matthews and Tolbert.. But Gailey/the offense can help that if they just run the ball effectively and often... I'm not ready to give up on Chan and Buddy yet... The recent slide has had a lot to do with injuries (and yes, defensive scheme issues too) and I believe these guys should have at least 3 seasons if not 4 to work on depth, bringing in the right starters and progressing with schemes... George Edwards is another subject after the season is over...
  5. Not that I agree with everything Paup is saying here, Doc.. but I believe since many of us are spending our money to support an NFL team, then yes, we do deserve a decent product in return... Just sayin'.
  6. Rather than regurgitate what has already been said, the above posts are sufficient replies to this thread... I'd consider this, John... Most talented journalists take criticism in stride, and perhaps consider what is being said. Not the b.s. and immature trolling that we see these days.. that should be completely ignored by true professionals. But the real questions about the media "short-changing" the fans such as Coach Tuesday's comment about not asking tough questions of Ralph Wilson and others are what is valid here. You can beat your chest and scream "I was right! I was right!" about the win/loss record all you like... that is very subjective in the complexities as to why the season turned the way it did for Buffalo. However, it is the same ol' tired, made to formula ways in which the Buffalo sports media (and most media for that matter) continues to report that should be considered here. Its easy to do it that way, I know, and collect a paycheck... and attack fans on a message board about win/loss predictions. But perhaps asking about the true concerns as to why this continues to happen to the people at the root of it all is what a real journalist should do..? I don't know... just a thought. Or we could continue with the same ol' monotonous business as usual and let the wheel go round and round... There's a prediction I know will be correct.
  7. Looks like some of the journalists are even piling on Pouha now... http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_corner/post/Jets-player-thinks-Steve-Johnson-8217-s-plane-c?urn=nfl-wp12806
  8. Great points here... I will also add that overcoming the mass of injuries for a rebuilding, thin and young roster is more difficult than say, Green Bay last year as the OP claimed... A team like the Packers has had the same coaching staff and front office entrenched for years... They've had far more time to build depth under their philosophy and schemes... Also, when considering the rebuilding process, remember that the Bills defensive scheme has gone through a huge transition here... It has been changed from a Cover-2, 4-3 scheme requiring smaller, faster players particularly in the front 7 to a much bigger, stout 3-4 scheme requiring a major shift in personnel... I'm certainly not happy with how things are going this season, and I've done my fair share of complaining the last few years... But I like Gailey and Nix's philosophies and schemes far more than some of the previous attempts...
  9. The media focuses on overanalyzing a story to keep said story going and going and going. Along with that, people are willing to say anything to make the spotlight or have the same question asked so many different times and ways, they eventually say something ridiculous that gives the media more fuel. I don't like what Stevie did as far as the Plaxico thing, that was not cool.. But the jet crashing and burning..? That was pretty original and funny... I've seen a lot of celebrations and mocking that were as bad or worse and nothing was said by the media.. But then, in my opinion, there is a particular part of the sports media that holds a bias against the Buffalo Bills and jumps at the chance to smear them. The Stevie Johnson celebration, particularly the "Sept. 11 insensitivity", has been blown way out of proportion....
  10. WRs dropped several passes, including a big one by Johnson on the final drive... The defense couldn't stop or pressure the Jets offense at pivotal moments... Rayner botched that kickoff... Among other issues... Fitz went 26 of 39, 67% completion rate (that's with all the drops) 298 total yds 3 TDs and 0 INTs against a great Jets secondary and behind a makeshift offensive line... Oh, and he was on the road... Yeah, I'd put that one completely on Fitzpatrick...
  11. No kidding... Any other team would've gotten that call... That just adds insult to injury after Maybin's second sack...
  12. CJ Spiller did something!!!
  13. No kidding... Was it 2009 where we tied the franchise record for players on I.R...? Certainly looking that way again...
  14. 4th and 2 and you go for the end zone..?
  15. I was born and raised in Mississippi and my father has lived in Greenwood for several years... I had always hoped to bump into Kent Hull while visiting my father, but never managed to... That is until I made it up to Memphis once in 1997 to catch the Bills playing the "Tennessee Oilers" at their temporary home, the Liberty Bowl... I met Kent while there that weekend as I was getting autographs from some of the players... He had made it up there from MS. to see some of his teammates and I was able to have a short conversation with him about Greenwood, family and the Bills and I got him to sign a card for me... He was quite honestly, outside of Glenn Parker, the nicest, most genuine football player I have ever met... I had a lot of fun that weekend and even got to go up to the press box and listen to Larry Felser, Vic Carucci, John Murphy and Van Miller do their pregame show... It was a blast until I watched a young Steve McNair and Eddie George trounce on the Todd Collins-led, post Kelly/Hull Bills... But one of my favorite moments in all of that was getting to finally meet my fellow Mississippian and a bear of a man, Kent Hull.... May he rest in peace and know that many of us will never forget him.
