  1. Yea, but those are arguably the top two talented guys on the team..... You said overpay. I would assume that means that we paid above the going rate for these two players. I would imagine that teams would have paid each of these guys more than we paid them at the time their contracts were signed. Not TOO much more, but we certainly did not give them anymore than other teams were willing to pay.
  2. Examples that don't include Dockery or Kelsay?
  3. It should be noted that when your QB completes 7/11 passes and has thrown for less than 50 yards, thats a problem. It should also be noted that when your top 2 leaders in tackles are safeties, that is a problem too. sh--.
  4. Agreed. Ralph is outdated, despite his great legacy.
  5. Finley looks good. Good thing we drafted him. Jauron really scares me sometimes with how poorly he prepares his teams. Brandon really scares me sometimes with how man holes he leaves open on the team every year.
  6. Who predicted he would sign by Friday? Good job.
  7. Really good point. I've said all along that the blame should be shared by both parties for failing to make concessions in order to get this done. I think this would speak to that point.
  8. Agreed. I have to be honest, when I look at our roster and its potential, I get really excited heading into this season. But, you read some of these reports, and they are not extremely positive. 3 main points have stuck out to me from all who have watched the Bills training camp 1) Langston and Butler might get Edwards killed 2) Keith Ellison should not be on the field and it is a crime that Brandon didn't try to add some more depth at linebacker 3) Edwards still needs to break out of "check down" mode. And it is going to be that much harder for him to do that when Langston is getting burned and Butler is falling down.
  9. Tim, Not sure if this question has been asked yet, though I can imagine it has been brought up at some point. In short, what is the story on Maybin? Reports came out last week that he was close to signing, but the Bills have been very quiet regarding the negotiations. Clearly it is typical for teams to stay mum about on-going negotiations, but this situation seems unique to me in that there seems to be NO urgency on the part of the Bills to get the job done. Normally, you at least hear coaches or the FO discussing how strongly they want the player in camp, but I have heard little come out from the Bills publicly about Maybin. What is the word and should Bills fans be concerned either about Maybin signing before the start of the season or about how productive he will be after missing the first month of camp?
  10. I can't believe the Bills haven't gotten Maybin into camp yet.
  11. Edwards could easily start on a playoff team.
  12. Obviously there is no requirement. I'm just saying no agent would allow his client to sign until he is comfortable the market is set. And just so you know the client might always have the last say, but to think the agent has no leverage over his client is ridiculous. Most, if not all agents at this level, will not represent clients that do not follow their advice. So yes, Maybin could dump his agent if he really wanted to. If you actually think he needs to do that in order to prove his devotion to Buffalo you are nuts. Every person who views football for the business that it is, understands why Maybin is doing this. I'm in no way a proponent of the NFL and how overly commercial it is. But, this issue cannot be understood until you accept the fact that it is a business and this is how it goes.
  13. No, I think that if Crabtree doesn't sign, it just means Maybin will sign later. I actually would imagine he will be signed before the end of the week. But, I think the reason he hasn't signed so far has at least a little to do with waiting for Crabtree to sign.
  14. I have to be honest, this doesn't really surprise me much. Maybin is one of those players that is highly coached behind the scenes. This was pretty obvious in how he handled himself in his first encounters with the press. It came off as mature, but very mechanical. The kid clearly thinks a lot of himself, which is both good and bad. I don't doubt that Maybin will be working hard when he gets to camp, and I bet you anything he has kept himself in tip top shape. But, I also imagine that his agent is well aware Crabtree is going to get signed "over-slot" (if he does in fact sign). And they want to use that as leverage. That being said, I agree that Maybin is going to be a useless addition if he doesn't get to camp. As we saw with our rookies on Sunday night, it is very difficult for rookies to make solid impacts right from the start.
  15. There is absolutely zero evidence of this in Maybin.
  16. Why did the Bills sign Fitzpatrick instead of a veteran?
  17. It is about time we have the top secondary in the AFC East after drafting 10 DB's in the past 4 years.
  18. Agreed, unless that is in an order of importance. If so I would have Edwards with To immediately behind, followed up Walker, Schobel.
  19. 22. Buffalo The Bills remind me of the Orioles in the American League East. No matter what they do to improve in the offseason, they can't get over the New England hump. Even when Miami and the Jets make overtures to pass the Patriots, the Bills stay stuck down in the pack. That's why they went out and risked their season on Terrell Owens. If they've hit a home run with T.O., it might be enough to eke out nine or 10 wins against a manageable schedule. But I doubt it. Ouch.
  20. I think 3 points need to be realized when talking about Jones. 1) It isn't that the Bills are "comfortable" with Walker playing LT it is that they are uncomfortable with paying an injury prone Jones 4-5 Million dollars and having Walker and his 5 million/ Butler with his 2.5 million sitting on the bench. The Bills FO almost never takes risks in FA on aging injury prone players. They just don't have that luxury 2) The Coaching Staff loves Butler 3) The Coaching Staff loves Walker
  21. Uhh, Larry Fitzgerald was the 3rd overall pick. Byrd was the 42nd overall pick and is switching positions. I think the guy could be special. Any DB who has better hands than a lot of WR's is worth getting. In fact, I would rather take a DB with the most INTs than a DB with the fastest 40 time. Too often game changing ability is underrated. If Byrd picks 4+ passes he will already be our most dominant DB. And he will already have doubled Whitner's career total. At the same time, lets not get over excited. Bills fans often think every single one of their picks is going to be a pro-bowler (mainly bc that is our only hope for success since we never are big players in the FA market and we don't make trades), but we should keep things in perspective. I feel like if Nelson doesn't make 50+ catches this season and if Byrd doesn't have 5 INTs, there will be a thousand "Byrd is a bust" "Nelson is a bust" threads (kind of the same thing that happened to Hardy this year).
  22. I have no problem with not picking an OT w/ the first 4 picks. Though everyone loves to rip on Peters, the weakest part of the Bills last year was the interior of the O-Line. I think that at least drafting some depth at tackle instead of piling on DB's would have been nice. Again, it shows how Jauron is generally in his own world in terms of coaching strategy. In a sense, he is kind of nuts. But anyways, it could have been worse. Though, the Bills will be screwed if Walker gets injured.
  23. Chris Ellis is being moved to LT
  24. Brown won't make it past the Patriots.
  25. How many of you have watched Maybin play? The guy is fast, athletic and will play linebacker for us (at least at first). Have any of you even watched him play?
