Its not completely ridiculous. If the Bills were to pick the best player available at 10, Dez Bryant would be a steal. If I said to you guys last year "Michael Crabtree will be on the board when we pick", everyone on this board would have wanted to take him. And by all accounts, Bryant is very similar and could be better. That being said, I clearly don't see WR as our top need. If the Bills are unfortunate enough to be picking at the 10 spot (considering how awful their team is) and all of the top QBs are gone, I really, really hope they trade down and grab some more picks.

Not a big Childress fan, but look at Favres record at the end of the season over the past 5 seasons. Look especially at his TD/INT ratios. I don't think Childress is at fault for trying to get him off the field. I don't agree that he should be limiting Favre's ability to audible, given that is his biggest asset.

So These 4 Players Are There When Bills Pick
LABills08 replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the Bills have to decide if Bradford is better than next year's class. I think Bradford is good, but having not seen him at all this season, its tough to say for sure. In a perfect world, the Bills would somewhat solidify their line via free agency and mid round draft picks. I'm not sold on anyone but Okung. If Wood can recover and the Bills manage to sign a tackle, I am okay with waiting until round 2. Essentially, if they execute any kind of offseason plan (for the first time in history) that does not involve solving all of the problems via the draft, they have a shot. If not, it makes no sense but to draft a bunch of lineman. -
Is Brohm the future or do the bills go for another?
LABills08 replied to zer0vette's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Does anyone have an accurate view on Brohm? The kid was considered the top QB prospect in the game at one point and then his stock dropped significantly. Still, there is no way he gained all of these accolades w/o having a considerable amount of raw talent. I personally have never seen him play and I am skeptical as to why he was let go by the Packers (though it is clear they are set at starting QB for awhile). There was speculation on PFT that the Bills wanted to sign Brohm for awhile, but Jauron was against the move. Thus, he was signed immediately after Jauron's departure. Not sure what that means, but it is worth noting. -
Agreed. With Locker not coming out, Bills are likely going to be out of range to get one of the top 2 QBs. Picking number 8 is probably my least favorite pick of the draft.

I don't think they will fully rest those guys w/ 16-0 on the line.

Jake Locker - might be staying in school

My mistake. I still don't think that changes too much..... -
Jake Locker - might be staying in school

You seem to be alluding to a weak QB class this year. I think Locker will grade out in the top 3, but I'm not sure how you can ignore Bradford as the number 2 rated QB. I also think Tebow will demand respect in the 1st round, despite the fact he probably grades out as a round 3-4 type QB. If McCoy takes the Heisman, there will be 3 Heisman winning QBs in the draft. I see that as a pretty deep draft class and I imagine that is why Locker might be balking. Back to Bradford, why is everyone down on him all of a sudden? Yea he's injured his shoulder and had surgery (Claussen has had shoulder surgery as well), but the guy would have likely gone before Stafford in last year's draft had he declared. And if not, he definitely would have gone ahead of Sanchez. Why so down on him?+ By the way, He is 6-4 223. Clausen- 6-3 223. Clearly, those numbers likely have a margin of error of +/- 8, but the size differential is not there to the extent people think it is. -
No way.

That is a good point. I'm not completely down on him, but I think he has thus far underperformed. I don't say that merely because of his sack total, but more because of how he looks on snaps he takes..... completely over matched. He still is growing into his larger build and obviously, he is extremely young. And I am skeptical about why he hasn't been placed at linebacker. Of course, to his credit, the coaching staff never gives him enough consistent snaps. Which I find strange considering how our season is a lost cause. Why not see how he works through his mistakes? I'm not a coach, so I could be way off on this, but I imagine that the more times he gets pancaked, the faster he will learn how to make better moves to the QB. Also, Ayers and Jackson are both playing pretty poorly too. The only true DE that is really tearing it up is Connor Barwin (as I believe most of the other rookie pass rushers have been moved to linebacker).

Scroll to the bottom of this link and look at King's piece on rookie pass rushers. Three Points: 1) Maybin has underperformed. Yes. But look at who he is keeping company w/ and you can't get on the Bills brass too much. 2) Orakpo should have been the pick for a million reasons in retrospect. I myself was way wrong bc I thought he was Gholston 2.0. That being said, he is playing outside linebacker. Maybin will never have the power of Orakpo, but part of me wonders how he would fair at outside linebacker when he could gain a head of steam running into the blockers. 3) There has been one solid DE pick in the past two years, Orakpo. Even Long is looking suspect. I imagine the success rate of 1st round O-lineman and linebackers is much higher. Perhaps the Bills will take note.

When complaining about Poz, no one notes that the guy performed at his highest level in college as an outside linebacker.

Bills should draft 5th this year if we
LABills08 replied to oregonbbfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not even sure if we could beat Indy's backups. I could see us beating KC though. But, that isn't a sure thing either. All likelihood is 5-11 and drafting something like 8th. Which sucks, but what can you do? Also, if Indy is undefeated going into the last game of the season, I'm not so sure they will take the game lightly. -
Yes. Everyone will talk about Fewell being head coach.

IF Bills Are Truly THinking About QB In Draft
LABills08 replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think there will be a consensus "Top QB" in this draft. There will be Clausen, Mallett, Bradford, Locker going in the top 15 though. (if Locker and mallett declare) -

Don't the Bills know that you can't call a draw when your O-Line gets run over every play. -
TO has always had an attitude. Did he take plays off? That is a subjective observation, one that is impossible to know. He might have been frustrated with Edwards, but so was the entire team. I'm just saying its ludicrous to suggest that he was playing poorly in order to get Jauron fired and Edwards benched. He would not benefit from that in the least.

If the draft were today, we'd be ... 11th!
LABills08 replied to Thurman#1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
See, I would have no problem with the number 11 pick aside from the fact that it is a symbol of mediocrity and the failure to fix it. I think draft spot is pretty negligent if you have a good FO. Unfortunately, we do not. Problem with 8-11 this year is that again we miss out on the blatant IN YOUR FACE impact players. Which means, we rely on our scouting department to see who is the best out of probably 10-15 players with similarly touted upsides. Which means you have Maybin, Orakpo, Oher on the board...and who do you pick? I think all signs point to us taking a QB unless Fitzpatrick lights it up. If there was a cheap veteran option out there to sign for a year or 2 (and give the Bills cover while they hopefully rebuild their lines), that would be nice. But, to the best of my knowledge, no such option is available.. -
Are We Watching The Demise Of The Pats?
LABills08 replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Remember how the Colts have always been good with Peyton Manning even when they had a large turnover w/ personnel? I imagine the same will be said for the Pats while they have Brady. Regarding last nights game, one team made mistakes, one team didn't. The Saints are really good and Brady never had time to throw. That being said, the Pats are known to make adjustments and I imagine when they meet again it will be a different type of game. -
Exactly. The Dolphins are not some stellar team. Neither are the Jets. They are teams w/ talents (both more talented than the Bills), but both are going to have to put together strong finishes to sniff the playoffs. Both teams have gaping holes at the QB position and have made critical mistakes to lose games. I expect Fewell to have his guys fight day in and day out and I think his energy will translate into some hard fought games. But come on. 1 win!!!!
