What are the realistic names? Can we start a list? Free Agents: Mark Sanchez Brian Hoyer Matt Moore Christian Ponder (pretty gross list) Via Trade (based purely on who may be available) Matt Ryan (longshot) Jay Cutler Colin Kaepernick Kirk Cousins Who are we missing? I think there will be discussions about the Bills trading for Kaepernick and Cutler for most of the offseason. But my hunch is that they go with Hoyer or Sanchez.

NEW HEAD COACH: Rex Ryan! It's Official!
LABills08 replied to K D's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thoughts on Rex - - In a lot of ways, he is the best possible candidate for the Bills. I'm not saying he's the perfect candidate, but given where the Bills are at - I think he is the best head coach that the Bills could have hired. - This is a franchise that needs a jolt. It needs someone to come in and make the franchise believe, from the players on down. Someone who shares the same chip on his shoulder that the fanbase and players have. Rex will do that. - A lot of people are comparing the current state of the Bills to the Jets. Which is nuts. The Bills have a much more talented roster. - Schwartz is a great coach who had a good year - but lets not over credit him. The Bills defense is stacked. It would take a pretty bad coach to come in and blow it with the Bills defense. If he goes - I won't lose sleep. Greg Roman is the more important hire. Anyways - i think this is a big moment for the Bills. Its the first time that they have actually decided to pony up for a head coach in sometime. -
RD1, Pick #4: WR Sammy Watkins - Clemson

That move is called: -Whaley and Marrone are about to have new bosses, so might as well go for broke. -Lets give this franchise a super star. Someone that gets on the cover of magazines. But losing the 1st around pick in next year's draft is pretty brutal bc this team might need a QB. -
The Bills are doing an excellent job in Free Agency

Best part about what the Bills did in FA is it allows them to draft an offensive playmaker with the first pick. Yea, they could always go OL. But I think they go big and look for someone that can help EJ out. And look for a Guard in the 2nd round. Or maybe a RT. I just hope they stay away from Safety. They have bigger needs. Evans or Ebron. -

I bet if you polled most fans on this website about if they'd prefer Marrone or Pettine as Head Coach of the Bills - they'd take Pettine by a huge margin. And truthfully, I'd go with Pettine too. -

So the Bill's passing offense involves 3 throws. 1) A screen/check down to running back 2) a 8 yard pass over the middle 3) a 40 yard bomb I really, really, really hope that is the result of a bad Offensive Coordinator not knowing how to make a rookie QB effective and not another QB the Bills drafted who simply cannot make NFL throws. -
For all those saying that only one QB will be drafted in the first round or that the Bills won't go QB..... Our GM just said he thinks there are 2-3 franchise QBs in the draft. And he's stated for awhile that this is the year for the Bills to find their QB. I think the chances are pretty good the Bills go QB.

Also. Bills had a chance to change the culture and find a legitimate football coach with fresh ideas. And they went back to the recycling bin, hiring another guy who coached himself out of the NFL. And then he goes on to hire a defensive coordinator who coached himself out of the league. Its just bad news. SF is a good team, but after this long, the Bills should have been rebuilding to a point whereupon they can compete with any team in the league. Once again - this franchise is simply unable to play with the best teams. They just get trounced. Watch out for a brutal 2nd half if they start slow. -
RD 1, Pick #10: DB Stephon Gilmore - South Carolina
LABills08 replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm high on Gilmore. Part of it is trusting Buddy (even though I've been hard on him at times, he knows how to draft), the other part of it is that he has had a long track record of success. Just because the Bills missed on Whitner and McKelvin does not mean that every DB they draft will be a bust. Note that McKelvin played in the Sun Belt Conference, which as we all know, is no where near as strong as the SEC. Also, McKelvin only started his junior and senior year. In fact, a lot of his succes and recognition came from being a great kick-off/punt returner. That definitely played a role in inflating his value. Gilmore, on the other hand. He started his entire caeer and played against the top competition in college football week in and week out. That, to me, is important. -
Anyone catch this? I missed it.

RD 1, Pick #10: DB Stephon Gilmore - South Carolina
LABills08 replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not a fan of DBs, but that is due mainly to the failure of the Bills to pick them successfully. In terms of value, good CBs are right up there with left tackles in terms of how hard they are to find. It will be said at nauseum, but its a passing league. I don't know enough about Gilmore to have an informed opinion about him, but I do know that McKelvin does not = Gilmore and Whitner did not = Barron. We'll see what happens. It seems clear to me that the Bills plan on getting to the QB and expect opposing offenses to make quick, short passes..which is why they took a physical corner who is good at pressing. We'll see. But he was probably the BPA unless the Bills wanted a DT. -
Sources: Bills looking to trade up
LABills08 replied to billsfan714's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I love how everyone is making it seem like all of these rumors contradict each other. The situation is likely this: 1) Buddy knows how badly the Vikings want out of 3. He also knows that Kalil likely won't make it to 10 should the Vikings pick someone else. 2) While some, in recent weeks, have speculated that Kalil is not a top 10 talent, the large majority disagrees. Mayock, Lombardi, etc., all have him as a top 4 players. Point being, no matter how in love the Bills are w/ Barron/Gilmore, Kalil will be higher on their boards. 3) Buddy said on the chat that there is a "no brainer" pick at 10 but he doesn't know if he'll be there. Well, Barron and maybe even Gilmore are likely to be available. To me that is Kalil all day. 4) My point about how these rumors do not conflict. Saying that the Bills are high on Barron/Gilmore at 10 clearly doesn't mean they wouldn't be higher on certain players that will likely be off the board before the Bills are on the clock. I think they are fairly confident that Kalil won't fall to 10. They are also fairly confident that the Vikings are happy to pass on the kid. So..it makes sense to offer a 2nd round pick in order to get a franchise LT. Everyone knows how hard it is to find a franchise LT. They aren't available in free agency and they are rarely available via trade. The only way to acquire a good one is in the draft. Kalil is clearly the better player than both Gilmore and Barron. And I'd be more than happy w/ the pick if they trade up. -
Starting to think its Barron/Gilmore. Sounds more and more like Kuechly is much better as MLB (mic) than he is on the outside. While Buddy has said he can play all 3 positions, others have said that he wouldn't be anywhere near as good as a strong side linebacker. Interesting situation. As for the DBs. On one hand, Barron is probably the better player, so if the Bills are drafting by the BPA logic, he gets the nod. On the other hand, Bills are very high Searcy. And in the same way that they're high on Sheppard which discounts their interests in Kuechly, I think their faith in Searcy could mean Gilmore is the pick. I know Byrd is a FA next season, but he's a FA the Bills can and likely will try and keep. McKelvin, McGee and Florence on the other hand will all likely be out the door. Final opinion? If it comes down to Gilmore/Barron, I think Barron is the guy bc Buddy is going to want the BPA.

Hahaha. I can't believe GMs are doing this kind of thing, but its interesting. Btw, the guy who he has as a no brainer at 10 has to be Kalil or Gilmore. Sounds like a definite no on WRs.

Cosell is legit. Interesting to see he has Floyd ahead of Blackmon.
