  1. Bolded #1 -- Hero means different things to many different people. People praising him as a hero for having a team here is well within their rights. Bolded #2 -- who? Who was trying to put a football team in Buffalo? Bolded #3 -- he had chances to move the team and increase his profits, but didn't. Bolded #4 -- what proof do you have that he didn't? You don't, just like the majority of fans of this team. We speculate. Bolded #5 -- your opinion, not fact. You can't tell people what they should and should not think. Carry on
  2. I'm still not even sure of that. I make the drive daily from South Buffalo to the falls. I just have a hard time believing that the answer to a new stadium lies anywhere in Niagara County, maybe thats my own personal bias, but I just don't see it being logical and practical. It would appear you're forgetting a couple of key points. to get to Niagara Falls blvd, you'd have to travel down Pine Ave, which is a 2 lane stretch with small businesses on each side of the road. River Road would have to be accessed by either taking the Lasalle Expressway (after sitting on Robert Moses, or heading down Buffalo Avenue, which is 30 MPH all the way through, and not the greatest travel route. And to get to the 90, the bridges would either need to be rebuilt or expanded to accomodate more than 2 lanes of traffic. And who would foot the bill for that? the Thruway Authority? That would only happen after raising tolls for the current GI bridge to pay for the new ones we would need.
  3. I guess we would have to agree to disagree. I'm not sure how much widening can be done to River Road without buying up a lot of the property that's there, but that's secondary to getting people out of the "downtown" area of Niagara Falls. They wouldn't get to River Road without having to fight their way down Pine Ave to NF Blvd, or by going down Buffalo Ave. These aren't just minor issues, the traffic in and out of the city would be more difficult to overcome than people are seeing it as.
  4. Including the bridges? NF Blvd was expanded recently, Buffalo Avenue was repaved and I'm not sure how much more you can widen it as it goes through residental areas and schools and is 30MPH all the way through, and I don't believe the Robert Moses Parkway can be expanded either, so that still isn't really viable.
  5. I'm going to again bring this up since it's been mentioned before with no one providing any real vialble solution. What will be done? Right now you have the Robert Moses Parkway leading to the GI bridges, and all it takes is one accident and traffic is backed up for hours on end. Buffalo Ave, same issue, leads to the bridge, unless you take a 30 MPH road all the way to River Road where it's a 2 lane stretch for a good part of it where the speed limit doesn't exceed 45 MPH. Oh wait, we could take NF Blvd, which wouldn't be any better and to get to that, you'd have to take Pine Ave, to NF Blvd and intereact with the additional tourists from Canada hitting the outlet mall and such. So can anyone shed some light as to how to "fix" the road problems when the city just doesn't have an inexpensive alternative to assist with traffic flow?
  6. seriously busted out laughing at this, especially visualizing the pie eating contest and 70,000 fans screaming Ralph. Coworkers looking at me like I'm nuts %itsonlikeamofo
  7. maybe after a few drinks
  8. ahhhhh this stupid mickey mouse organization. when will you all realize you're just drinking the Kool-Aid? Wake up! this team is doooooooomed. ****please do not read if your sarcasm monitor is outdated******
  9. wow, i'm shocked. I expected by now to see a post that says " well the Bears signed all theirs already, so we must really suck, fire everyone"
  10. The handshake line in the NHL is a longstanding tradition to congratulate the winners and offer them luck in the future, not tell someone "i'm going to kill you next year". If that happens outside of a rink, someone could take that as a very real threat and contact law enforcement. There's no way to prove that him saying I'll kill you isn't meant in the most literal term possible, just as I can't prove that it is meant that way. The point is that it shouldn't be said, and he comes across as a sore loser for it.
  11. absolutely. and then to say Weise is a baby if he wants to talk about in the media.? Lucic is a joke. for a guy who has decent talent, he's a punk overall.
  12. By saying "I'll *(&^#(#^)@_ kill you next year"? a little over the top
  13. By the same token, you're holding him to the fire for EVERYTHING that has gone wrong. He has not been the end all be all final say on everything guy, so to hold him accountable for it all is baseless.
  14. I never said he is blameless, i asked you to further elaborate, and now that you have it's become quite clear this is a crusade you have against him.
  15. Please provide details on how 3,4,5 and 6 are all the fault of Russ? 3? he's the only one dealing with the salary cap? No other teams sign players to bad contracts? 4? Do we have enough details and facts to prove that a new stadium wasn't being discussed or are we just making assumptions? 5? performance on the field is his fault?! 6? the PR is all the fault of Russ?
  16. this thread should really just be titled Russ sucks, cause that was the entire point of the OP starting it, it was just to show how much he hates RB
  17. A very serious question with no sarcasm intended. How many fans do you think won't go that are living in Niagara Falls, Buffalo, Amherst etc not to mention Canada? Would we still sell out if we lose a good portion of that fan base who won't travel the 40 minutes or so to get to Batavia?
  18. You're right, it won't take trillions, but you just hit on part of it. Right now you have the 219, Abbott, Southwestern, Milestrip to route 5, can pick up the 190 not too far into the city, etc. Right now, outside of the GI bridge, what is there? Niagara Falls Blvd, or River road? not good at all.
  19. And where do you think that leaves the season ticket holders who currently have the team in their backyard? How many of them do you lose by telling them they now have to drive 40+ minutes to get to the game?
  20. So what would be the plan and where's the money coming from? Are we going to build 4 lane bridges getting on and off the island? Are we somehow going to finish the Lasalle Expressway? I'm curious as to what you see as viable options to improve traffic flow if you put the stadium there.
