Playing devils advocate here, is it possible that many people have expectations that are too high for EJ? If I recall, he was listed a s guy who would be a bit of a project when he was drafted, so is it a possibility? Or by asking does this make me an "apologist"?

Why? It's the preseason. We have a good to very good defense, some good Running backs, and every single team in the league is 0-0. My hope hasn't diminished at all.

There has to be something that is scaring teams off, I agree. It would be interesting to know why so far he's just sitting out there and no one wants him. Is his work ethic that poor? Does he have an unfounded sense of entitlement? Who knows.

Having conversations with a local economist doesn't necessarily mean " Batavia seems to be picking up steam" as you mentioned. Can you elaborate as to why you feel it's picking up steam?

Really I'm always optimistic that this will be the year. Does it make me naive? I don't think so. I get so amped up for the start of another season, it's early Christmas for me. I think I make my wife crazy but she's learning to deal with it. There isn't any other way I'd want to experience this ride as a Bills fan. It's all in all the time. My heart gets ripped out when we lose and my chest puffs out when we win. It's something I wouldn't change for anything.

I want to question this. Is it possible the "system" Hackett uses, ( i know, no planning in preseason), is one that has EJ thinking too much instead of dropping back and firing? Not trying to simplify things too much, but is it possible EJ is a drop back and let it rip guy and Hackett wants him looking specifically at target 1, then 2, then 3 and so on and so on?

Are you saying that he deserves to still be on the roster with his performance? I'm tired of watching our punter rip off his chinstrap in frustration after most punts.

Why don't you see the need? This board is full of people who bash our QB our O line, etc etc but Moorman is off limits? It's clear it's past his time. IMO it was a mistake to bring him back last time. He just doesn't have it anymore. That takes nothing away from all the good he has done for the Bills in his career. But at this point? Best thing is to retire and make it easier on the team. He isn't close to the same player anymore.

Thanks for the explanation. As a follow up, is it possible that some Qb's are unable to play well in a particular system? It appears so far Hackett wants to run something that resembles a west coast type offense, so is it completely out of scope to say someone like Ej can't work well in that but could work better and be more successful in a run and gun kind of deal? I guess my thing is before we throw out the baby with the bath water, is it something where players need a different system or no?

I'd call myself a pretty big fan of EJ who wants to see him do well but he definitely looked bad yesterday. I'm bowing to some of the expertise on this board because I saw someone else comment on how he looks very mechanical. Is it possible that the play calling and design of plays by Hackett doesn't allow for EJ to be more instinctual? I was never a qb so I won't pretend I know. Is it something where Hackett says this play goes here no matter what? In my viewing of Ej at FSU, he seemed to be better when he could just play and not be a robot. Just my two cents but if anyone can shed a little light on my question I'd appreciate it.

RIP little one. My condolences to the family. I don't have my own kids yet but I couldn't even begin to imagine the pain and heartache. Just sad news.
