But again, give an answer. what happens if he does?
-
now lets see what happens.
-
No not every down, but I'd like to see our OC look and say damn that's not working, lets change things up. It seems to me he is too stubborn to adjust on the fly, or go with the flow of the game. It seems like they run 15 different plays the entire game and that's all. No Defense anywhere will fear that. Do what you can to protect and mask your QB's shortcomings (if possible). Give a gameplan that keeps a team on their toes.
-
They might be, I'm not going to deny that could be the case, but to me it's frustrating to see in a copycat league (which the NFL is), to see our OC consistently trying to buck the trend, or go against the grain, and not play to what our true strengths are. I know our run game hasn't been great, but man don't quit on it so easily. Design some plays to get EJ some more time if the line plays poorly, get him out of the pocket more, do something, just do ANYTHING. try some routes that are rub routes to get guys open. I know a lot of it has to do with the play of our QB, but our OC has to be looking at ways to move the ball and keep the defense on it's toes and it's just not happening, and that is a coaching fail
-
Houston never shut down our running game. our own coaching staff shut it down. that's what has me angry with the way they do things. We were still making positive gains on the ground, there was no reason to abandon it, but yet they did.
-
You know what though? In different circumstances I may agree. Houston didn't force us to stop running. Hackett quit on it on his own. We were averaging between 3-4 yards a carry, which is decent and not something to abandon. But Hackett did. It's not like a better team said yep we're going to shut down your running game, now you pass, it was a case where Hackett thought he could outsmart everyone. To run the ball only 22 times in a game when your running game is moving at a decent YPC clip, is an idiotic move. The score wasn't so out of reach where you had to abandon the run. Your argument for this particular game about the run game just doesn't pass the sniff test.
-
I think it's a combination of both. EJ has been bad, and Hackett is worse IMO. It appears that Hackett can't game plan worth a crap, just like our QB can't hit an open receiver.

Why is the rest of the offense getting a pass?
MarkAF43 replied to Hazed and Amuzed's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is what I don't get. the NFL is a copycat league. Why does Hackett call a game like he's smarter than other coaches in the league? Use what works! EJ has been bad, but IMO Hackett has been worse -
I'm not saying a deep game. The team was running fairly successfully but yet our qb throws 40 some odd passes in a game against a team that gave up over 190 on the ground last week? That's poor coaching. It's not like all of a sudden they started shutting down our running game. We just let it die. That's a coaching problem. Good coaches dictate their plan to the other team. Not the other way around. To add. Good coaches adjust to what's working and what isn't. Hackett can't or won't.
-
Not bringing the EJ factor into it ( he was terrible) But to me Hackett needs to go. He's running a JV offense and it shows. Regardless of who is at qb with this type of offensive game plan this team is in serious trouble. As others have mentioned, when the D can put all 11 guys within 15 yards of the LOS, you need to have a gameplan to counter it. Hackett can't do it.
-
That's kind of my point in an abstract way. If Orton is in, do we see a significant change in how the offense performs or does it just show how overmatched Hackett is as an OC?
-
So here's a very serious question. Take EJ out, put in Orton, same offense. Do you see a significant difference or does it more clearly show the flaws in Hacketts system?
-
I've been hoping to see EJ start to turn the corner but after two straight weeks of downright bad QB play, I think it may be time for a change, and may be beneficial to show Hackett the door too. His offense lacks creativity and doesn't get our receivers open. (This is not excusing EJ, he was downright bad and wildly inaccurate again). This teams offense is very predictable and they seem to outthink themselves more often than not.

2nd half thread Bills vs. Texans

I'm so fed up with the play calling and with EJ. He can't hit a receiver to save his life and Hackett is outsmarting himself. You have success running the ball. Keep doing that! And why is it any other nfl team can have open receivers somewhere on the field but we can't? -
The Chargers Oline were holding all day

Jesus. We lost, we were outplayed, our D wasn't perfect, our qb was bad and we didn't show up and play well. Let it go. New game tomorrow for the team. Penalties are a part of the game. Sometimes they're in your favor, sometimes not. -
Anyone else tired of hearing about Derek jeter?

Exactly, I'm an Indians fan but Jeter is one of those guys you just root for. He's earned it. -

I absolutely hate the Yankees with a passion, but as a baseball fan I can't help but respect Jeter. He has been an ambassador to the game and a role model for kids growing up. In this day and age of professional athletes beating kids, raping women, beating women etc etc etc, it's refreshing to have a good guy get his recognition. And for those claiming it's fixed? Right, both teams are so good at what they do that they could set the table so perfectly? Let go of the BS conspiracy theories and just enjoy what was a storied career for a damn good baseball player and a good human being. -
If you were the Bills would you trade for Eli Manning

Here's the problem. NY won't make that in any type of second. -
Well only 9 posts to see a Mod continue with his anti EJ/QB crusade on a thread that should have NOTHING to do with him!

You're obviously not getting the point that is being made, and you're stuck on this we haven't beat them in a decade rhetoric. The point is, the players and the fans (majority anyway), shouldn't care who is lining up for the other team. we root for a victory. it's not tainted because Brady is old, or Wilfork is hurt, or whatever. It's irrelevant. The goal is to win. Regardless of who lines up for the other team. It's about winning. No one in that locker room will go, dang I wanted to beat Brady when he was 30, not 37. This win sucks! -

The point was that if the Bills win sunday, Wood isn't going to walk off the field and go "damn, it was nice we won, but it's not the same since Clowney wasn't playing". As a fan, it doesn't matter how old Brady is, he's still playing, he's fair game for all of it. Doesn't matter one bit. -

It's kind of funny you said this. Yesterday when Eric Wood was on with Schopp and the Dope, Mike Schopp asked Wood if a win or if the game won't feel the same because Clowney isn't playing, indicating the win wouldn't be as sweet since he wasn't in there and Wood laughed and said no, not at all. It's the same premise. I don't give a damn if Brady is 27 and in his prime for 57 and can't move. I want wins over NE period.
