How did NE figure out our offense so quick?
UticaBill replied to PortlandiaEast's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Can you say cheaters!? -
Bills OL coach Aaron Kromer arrested (Suspended 6 games)
UticaBill replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why don't we all just wait for this to shake out in the legal system before any judgments are made? Kromer is INNOCENT until proved guilty.... Making judgments without full knowledge of the facts and cross examining all parties is foolish and arbitrary. Being accused of something does not make one guilty of ANYTHING! -
Matt Simms has good chance to make team
UticaBill replied to mead107's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Matt Sims is an upgrade over Jeff Tuel....beyond that, Matt Cassel is the only player whom he might beat out... and that would be because of Cassel's foot not fully recovering.... otherwise he will be shown the door just like Tuel come cut time.... and I have a $1 too... -
Former 49ers RB suspected of killing cellmate (No, not OJ!)

LMFAO! I still remember when he picked those Hopevale girls up at the gas station near the stadium.... -
"How can the scale transition from roster overall relent level into actual team performance? That's odd. I could argue the Seahawks lost talent from their Super Bowl winning season but they still got there.... So are they C or are they a-?" The scale takes winning into account after a certain point because just assembling good talent doesn't translate directly into wins, so team chemistry and other variables play roles too.... And great GMs are not only able to recognize talent, but know what talent fits on the team best as well.... I think we all have seen teams with outstanding talent fall all the way to a losing record because of poor leadership, bad chemistry, etc. On the other hand its is a rare exception that we see "talentless" teams make it to the playoffs. So the scale considers only the talent level of the team until the only indicator of increasing performance is in relation to the other teams around the league not just the teams specific roster makeup. Remember a GM does a LOT more than just find talent for the team! The Seahawks would have gotten an A- Why would measure them based solely on player talent? Talent alone does not translate to wins!

A+ = Super Bowl Win A = Conference Championship A- = Divisional Championship B+ = Win Division and 1st rnd. BYE B = Wild Card Win B- = Make the Playoffs C+ = Winning Season C = Upgraded talent C- = Retained Talent and Exciting Rookies D+ = Lost Some Talent to FA but exciting draft class D = Lost talent, mediocre draft, 1-2 FA pickups D- = team loses more games than previous year F = team loses more game than previous year twice So for now C

I voted a C mainly because we have yet to reach the playoffs under Whaley and while these moves look great on paper... not a single down has been played yet.

Troy Polamalu announces retirement
UticaBill replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He is just one of those players that was fun to watch and a maniac on the field. Gave his all every play, but his play took its toll. -
Cities in jeopardy of losing their teams
UticaBill replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Owners can do whatever they want and we the fans always get screwed.... we pay for their stadium and they profit from them...I don't care so much about how much players make (too much IMHO) nearly as much as I care about how little the source of all those dollars has a say in anything. I would LOVE to see a "farm" league where the teams are owned by the fans (like stock in corporations) and the teams own their own stadiums (and fund/build them from a league revenue system) heck, NFL players might even want to buy in.... with the way today's NFL burns through players some type of developmental league is becoming more and more a necessity... In actuality this is how the NFL should be operated but the rich owner's have their way.... why should a Baltimore Cardinal represent Arizona? Its a bit like #stolenvalor http://animals.nationalgeographic.com/animals/birding/baltimore-oriole/ -
Can the Bills win 11+ games without a great OL?
UticaBill replied to Big Hurt's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I didn't think our line was so awful last year based on talent, but more on positioning and scheme....and mistakes! Our biggest problem is a dearth of Journeyman type players to secure consistency. We have plenty of prospects all having decent physical skills that lack experience - and that hurts us. I think our line play last season showed more of our lack of experience (both in the league and playing together) than the lack of ability of the players individually. Wood is our best lineman, despite playing with weak guards last year he still managed to hold his own. - EVEN Glenn is still young and developing but could be better than Wood in a year or two. - Slight Improvement Incognito is a solid veteran who can be above average for us if he returns to old form... but best days are probably behind him. - Potential for big improvement, but more likely a small one. Williams is a wild card this year as much as last, I am penciling him in here but he has the potential to upgrade the position from last season at least! - EVEN Henderson gave about what you can expect from; lazy feet at times, and waist bending... but everything seems "coachable" and so I think we upgrade here slightly too. - Slight improvement So far we have a small improvement overall, and we are still depending on youth to step up... but we do have most of the line playing together again and they do have another year of experience to draw on... so with the improvements at TE, RB, WR, FB, I see us having enough improvement to get into the playoffs, but not enough to knock off the Patriots..... A Solid Left Guard or RT could help a lot Reserves are scary thin...Richardson, Campbell, Urbik, and Kouandjio with only Urbik having any real experience.... so we better not have any injuries! So I would conclude that the Bills have done enough to win more games than they did last season and have a good chance of making the playoffs, but getting 11 wins might be difficult without help. To be honest I would not mind seeing the Bills use their Draft picks this year to trade for a couple more quality veterans rather than draft youthful depth. Keep the #50 pick and get a talent, but all the others could be packaged to get us a quality QB or RT etc... Trades are often cap friendly too depending on how the money was spread out... With the new firepower I can see 10-6, but as another user noted, the difference between 10 and 11 in the NFL is HUGE! -
Cigarette Smoking Man (CSM) may be dead, but the curse lives on....

I woulda rather have had Crabtree over Harvin....but I really want lineman!

Would you, right now, trade EJ for Tannehill? Chapter 2
UticaBill replied to FireChan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If we were running last year's offense then Tannehill is the obvious choice, but if we are running Greg Roman's 49er offense then I actually think EJ would be the better choice in that style of system and allow Roman a bigger playbook. I am not totally down on EJ like some, but he still has a lot to prove too. I think we give EJ a year (or two) under Roman before casting him off, but I absolutely do not see Tannehill fitting Roman's system well. -
Yes and by the time we pick at #50 the top 5-6 will be gone already, and nobody after that could hold Hughes jock....
