After watching a lot of the combine
BeastMode54 replied to BeastMode54's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't like Cushing over Curry, I just don't think there is anyway he lasts to our pick -
The Bills are reportedly considering moving Donte Whitner to free safety full time. Buffalo toyed with this idea last offseason, but nixed it to keep Ko Simpson in the lineup. The Bills believe Whitner's cover skills are wasted playing "in the box," however, and think he'll be a bigger playmaker in center field. This worries me for the simple reason that I watched an interview with Fewell where he talked about added a safety. If we draft a DB with the first pick because of this move I will cry. If Mays from USC was in the draft, I wouldn't have a problem, but he's not. PLEASE no DB with the 11th

After watching a lot of the combine

In what order is tough, but I'd say I'm leaning towards Brown, Maybin, then Cushing. Brown has a ridiculous first move and looked really fast. His height is an issue though. Cushing has been a beast and manages 30 reps at 225 pounds, which is similar to a lineman. Maybin has put on 20 pounds since the beginning of the Penn State season and still ran a 40 in the low 4.6's. They both have question marks but have a huge upside. I wish there was more of a "sure thing" at our pick, but I know there is never really anyone like that. I might have added Maluaga, but some view him as onl;y a 2 down player, and he just had to pul out of the Combine when he heard a pop running his 40. (Orakpo got hurt as well) -
Cushing, Brown, or Maybin in the first (maybe Nelson, Casey or Cook in the second)

Fewell: Moving Poz outside an option
BeastMode54 replied to JoeF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
From what I have been reading, Maluaga worries me because he doesn't fit as a 3 down LB. I don't want to use the 11 pick on him if that's the case -
The Bills have reportedly offered free agent CB Jabari Greer a five-year contract worth $20 million. He's said to be eying a deal worth $7-8 million annually. Greer is likely mistaken if he thinks he'll get that much on the market. He's coming from a heavy zone scheme and missed six games last season with a knee injury.

I wouldn;t mind Nelson either, but Cook seems to be another "workout warrior", and that concerns me
-
That doesn't worry me at all. What do you think Tony Gonzalez runs?
-
I've read so much on him recently that if the Bills did pick him 11th overall, I wouldn't be too upset about it. This is a great article from NFL.com on him http://www.nfl.com/combine/story?id=09000d...mp;confirm=true

From Chris Brown on BB.com. I know a lot of people on this board said they liked him but that he was too small. Maybe he could be a perfect fit now? Maybin adds 20 pounds By Chris Brown - Posted February 21st, 2009 Penn St. DE/OLB Aaron Maybin apparently heard the critics that said he was too light to be a DE in the NFL. Admitting that he finished his final college season at 230 pounds. “They wanted to see me put on some weight,” said Maybin. “So I went to work and put on 20 pounds. I feel real good right now.” Maybin is now at 250 and said he feels good and more explosive than when he was 230. He’s been doing a lot of explosion, power lifting type training. We’ll see if it pays off, but many expect him to have a monster workout, which will only send him further up the first round board. At 250 he would play heavier than Aaron Schobel. I don’t know if that’s big enough to handle the left end spot, but he could certainly play an end position in Buffalo’s 4-3 system, provided the same speed and explosion show up in the workout.

does that make us a playoff team? This is obviously a HUGE hypothetical, but if we got let's say Haynesworth and Birk and in the draft got a OLB and DE, would those players be all we need to make that push to get into the playoffs, or are they still not enough?

So...Not much chatter about a FB

There's not much game film on Syracuse you'd want to watch -
Kinda makes you wonder. Harrison was suspended, Izzo got roids from Greg Anderson. How many other SB winning Patriots were on the juice? http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3912586

Um, yes. I have considered that. However, it seems there was no reason for them to be pulled over in the first place. Should he have a loaded gun...no. But if it was in the trunk and they weren't doing anything wrong, than I put a lot more blame on the police than on Marshawn and I think the case won't go very far in court. To me, the hit and run was a MUCH bigger deal
-
definitely him too. I didn't mention him only because he has been talked about so often on this board. Him and James Casey. If we got either Casey, Coffman, Ingram, Pettigrew, Beckam, or Nelson I'd be thrilled

Ravens cut CB Chris McAlister
BeastMode54 replied to lets_go_bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like McCallister, but injuries to his knees have slowed him down in recent years. Still, I wouldn't mind adding him to the mix -
Cornelius Ingram and Travis Beckam were considered two of the best TE's in the country coming into the season. Both had devastating injuries preventing them from playing. These two could be steals in the later rounds due to injury and might very well be worth a look for the Bills, who could use their earlier picks on DE, OLB and C.
-
I just took a look at Mike mayocks updates rankings for position and Brown isn't listed in the top 5 for either DE or OLB. I wonder why he fell so far?
-
If the weapon truly was in the trunk, which I would tend to believe it was, and there was no traffic infraction, no violence, no drugs found, not even the scent of marijuana in the car, then the police better have a damn good, and I mean DAMN good explanation as to why they were stopped, and then subsequently searched. I thought he was carrying the gun on him, but in the trunk...you have to be kidding me. Either way, it doesn't sound as if the police had any reason to stop them, other than for the fact they were black and in a nice car. Good job boys in blue.

This cannot be true. If this happened on the 11th, then how could morons like us find this info out on the internet, but the media and team officials couldn't find the same thing. I just can't believe it
-
If we could get Dansby instead, which I think we won't, then I wouldn't go for Brooking. But as a year or two stop-gap I think it's great. He's a blue collar player with a great attitude. He had over 100 tackles last year and 3 INT's. He still has some gas left in the tank. Not much, I might add, but enough. Maybe we draft an OLB and groom him under Brooking until it's time for him to take over. We need depth and that's what he would provide too.

from rotoworld: The Falcons are expected to release WLB Keith Brooking before February 23, when he is due a $1 million roster bonus. We've actually already seen him listed as a UFA in one location. Brooking's release will clear cap room, but leave Atlanta with holes at both outside linebacker positions. SLBs Michael Boley and Coy Wire are also free agents
