Who was the guy with all the inside info last year?
BeastMode54 replied to Deep2Moulds46's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just sayin... -
I watch a decent amount of CFB and I had obviously seen and heard of Newton, Locker, even Dalton and Ponder. All of a sudden the end of the NFL season comes around and everyone is talking about Gabbert. I think he is an agent and media creation. Is he even good? I'm genuinely asking the SW groups opinion here. Has anyone seen him play? Is he better than Newton as some suggest? I just don't think there is a surefire QB in the draft at 3. And if Newton is 1 I sure as sh-t don't want Bliane Gabbert

Gailey doesn't go to pro days
BeastMode54 replied to BeastMode54's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You're right. Moran is now saying the Bills say Gailey is at OBD -
got this from Pat Moran on Twitter. Ponder, Fairley and Houston are all at OBD but Gailey isn't there. He's with Nix at UNC to watch Quinn. How should we read into this?

Who was the guy with all the inside info last year?
BeastMode54 replied to Deep2Moulds46's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
With some reports saying we like Gabbert to Newton, and some vice versa, and some saying Von Miller and others saying even Cameron Jordan, you have any idea where they leaning? -
Exactly. I'm not going to believe anything until the pick is announced....or NeverGiveUp says it

This is a recent picture of Maybin at the gym. Look at his arms! Cut for sure, but he's never going to be big enough to play the postion of OLB. And to think he was a DE! Is it possible for him to put any more lb's on that frame? or is this the biggest he's gonna get? http://yfrog.com/gym19aoj

Adrian Peterson..."modern day slavery"
BeastMode54 replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Adrian Peterson is a slave, then he's the only one I know getting paid $50 million -
North Carolina DT Marvin Austin bench pressed 225 pounds a whopping 38 times at the NFL Combine Sunday. Draftniks worried Austin might not take training seriously while sitting out all of last year, but he's having a terrific offseason. The 6-foot-2, 312-pound nose tackle prospect also dominated at the East-West Shrine. Austin's physical tools, at least, are worthy of serious first-round consideration. per rotoworld. he could be a monster. I love Sturdivant as well

per rotoworld Alabama DL Marcell Dareus measured 6-foot-3 and 319 pounds at the Scouting Combine weigh-in Saturday. Dareus has 33 3/8-inch arms. He's the same height as top defensive tackle competitor Nick Fairley, but 28 pounds heavier. Essentially, they're completely different players. Dareus projects as the superior run defender, and could now be viewed with more versatility as a potential nose tackle. could he still play end?

Which Bills 1st round draft pick had you jumping for JOY?
BeastMode54 replied to major's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I haven't been overjoyed about a 1st round pick since I can remember. I'm always trying to rationalize the Bills thinking afterwards and end up being somewhat happy, but never jumping for joy -
Pat Moran:inside source has us taking

Great post. I totally agree! -
Pat Moran:inside source has us taking
BeastMode54 replied to BeastMode54's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
CNN SI has Cam Jordan ranked as the #6 overall rated prospect in the entire draft and the #1 rated senior. Take it for what it's worth: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/football/nfl/02/16/2011-nfl-draft-prospects/index.html?xid=si_nfl -
Pat Moran:inside source has us taking
BeastMode54 replied to BeastMode54's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree. I've been watching some tape on JJ Watt. He looks like the real deal as well. Just too high for these two guys I think. However, I'd rather take a guy who can play right away than one who needs to be developed. Even if people think the value of the player is worth a mid 1st round pick, I'll take mid 1st round solid production over whiffing in the first round like we have the past decade any day -
Pat Moran just tweeted that a source within the organization has continuously mentioned Cam Jordan as a possible pick for us at 3. I don't know how I feel about that. If he actually makes an impact I'm fine with it, just think there are better

Carucci: Bills GM Nix likes Cam Newton "a great deal"
BeastMode54 replied to Marshmallow's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was reading a chat wrap that Vic Carucci had where he states that Buddy Nix likes Cam Newton a great deal. He also says that we need to address the lines on both sides of the ball, especially on the defensive side. He then went on to say that we need to bulk up on the DL so that the transition back to 4-3 under Wannstedt is made easier. Hasn't Buddy Nix and Chan Gailey said emphatically that we are sticking with the 3-4 but will show multiple fronts. Don't these "analysts" need to know something about a team first before writing things? http://chat.nfl.com/front/index/1391 -
If he hits the free agent market do you think the Bills show interest in Gaither? If the answer is yes, where would he play? LT or RT? And would he be willing to play RT? Bell was solid this year. Not great, but not awful. He "could" get better, but I think Gaither might be the better prospect. Problem is his attitude and he can't stay on the field
-
I've read from some that they view him as Maybin 2.0, with a quick burst and speed to the QB. Can he stop the run, was he productive year after year in college? I never saw him play so I was wondering if any of you had. Also, with needs at D line, ILB, OL, and QB would he be a smart pick? I feel like we paid Merriman so if he's somewhat healthy hes gonna have to play. And we also want Moats to develop. Thoughts?

Yes, that's true. Talib has turned out to be a stud. Also, which draft was Brandon Flowers in. He's a beast as well

what worries me about Peterson is that everyone was saying McKelvin was the next shut down corner, and Revis gets drafted later and becomes elite. I would hate to see us draft Peterson and then see Prince Awakamura from Nebraska become the player we thought Peterson would. There are very few "locks" in a draft and I'm not sure anyone is this year. I also worry that Petersons measurables are going to impress rather than game tape. However, at 6'2 212, if he runs a sub 4.3 40, that's immense size and speed for the position and he could lineup with receivers of all shapes and sizes. This is going to be an interesting draft. In addition, the draft is 7 rounds, so all hope is not lost if we don't like the 1st pick

Buddy Nix seems to want to employ take the best player on the board strategy. I'm a big fan of Marcel Dareus from Alabama as a 3-4 End to hep our atrocious run d. However, he is rated lower than WR AJ Green and CB Patrick Peterson. I don't think we need another WR at this point, but we could trade Evans for a pick and draft Green who is being labeled as Calvin Johnson 2.0. Also, I have been so sick of drafting DB's. But if you look at our team, McKelvin hasn't fully developed, McGee can't stay on the field, Florence is a FA, WHitner is a FA, Wilson is a FA, Youboty is FA. CB actually might be a position of need for us depending on how things pan out and Peterson is listed as the best DB people have seen in a very long time. My question is, would you guys be angry if we took one of these two guys, or do you want defense all the way? Or Gabbert or Newton I guess as well, but I think they are more of a risk to hones

My off-season strategy, yours?

As much as I'd absolutely LOVE to have Harris, there is no way he is leaving -
Fairley, Green, Solder

What's the difference between
BeastMode54 replied to BeastMode54's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sigh.....I know. Just frustrates the crap out of me. I really hope we have a good draft and maybe get at least 1 top notch FA. I like Nix but what kills me about him is he says, correctly, that you build through the draft. But you can't JUST build through the draft. I don't think they will go after any FA's that are high salary guys and that's what really bothers me. Less risk in proven players
