  1. I forget who asked before what type f fundraiser it was. I only knew about it because my friend lives around the corner from the bar and saw that the coach would be there. It was a $10 cover and then just regular bar prices. The money went to a little girl in the neighborhood with cancer. Coach Marrone seemed to know a lot of people there because I think he grew up in the neighborhood. It also wasn't one long conversation, just asked him a number of questions in passing and granted I had a few in me too. It was also very casual. It was just an ordinary bar. He had a hat on, shorts and flip flops. Nothing serious so it was a casual setting. He did ask that I not post any pictures on Facebook. Not sure why, but maybe because it was in a bar setting, so I've abided by that. I don't think he gave anything away, but I did like the praise for Manuel. He was actually pretty soft spoken until the whole war part. And that had me and my friends dying and now I'm all fired up
  2. What my exact question was "I've read a lot of people regarding Rogers as a top talent. How has he been and will he be an impacy player this year". His answer was "he's working hard but we have a deep WR corp. Not sure he'll be an impact player this year but he has a chance to be good". Not really damning. It was also a very very casual event, so it seemed he was just shooting the sh-t. This was mine too. He talked to me and my friends. One is Giants fan and he asked he remove his Giants hat to take a picture! I thought was awesome. Spoke to him about non football stuff too, but the last comment was amazing. He walked away, patted me on the back and just said..."It's gonna be war!!!!" with a huge smile on his face. Guy is big too. My friends who werent Bills fans, which was all but one, said that they'd love to have him as a coach. He was amazingly cool
  3. I was at a fundraiser in the Bronx this past weekend and DOug Marone was hanging out talking shop. If you weren't a Bills fan you would have not even noticed he was there. A few things of note: He is going to use Spiller more this year (which we kind of already knew), he said Manuel is competing for the starting job and both have shined at times. He really admires Manuels leadership qualities as he's been working with the WR"s and contantly seeking veteran advice. He says Da'Rick Roger could be a good player in this league but he doesn't think he'll make and impact this year. He also said he thinks Woods and Alonso will be very good pro's. I'll told him I was from NYC but I go to every opening day he responded: "Oh, so you're going to the New England game?....It's gonna be a war!!!" Then he walked away. Fired up for opening day!
  4. ANy chance we take a look? He'd be another huge addition to the LB corp
  5. I hope this doesn't happen. We on;y have 6 picks and I don't want to use one of them on Matt Flynn at all
  6. by the Phins. We are gonna suck this year as we always do but jesus can we at least bring a FA in for a fvcking visit!!!!!
  7. Just when you think we had been finally building through the draft and FA, we lose two guards, one top 5 in the league. Just more holes to fill. Every year it's something. We overpay for mediocre players, barring Stevie and Mario, and the process continues year after year
  8. Anyone know anything about this guy? He transferred from USC to Richmond and was a prep star in high school. No idea how he was in college though
  9. what worries me is while they haven't talked to these two guys, they HAVE talked to David Nelson. Well that's a relief... http://blogs.buffalonews.com/press-coverage/2013/02/david-nelson-declares-knee-will-be-100-percent-for-training-camp.html
  10. I fear Levitre is all but gone. I'm hoping not. And if we franchise Byrd, I'm worried about a holdout
  11. Greaaaaaaat.... http://blogs.buffalonews.com/press-coverage/2013/02/no-talks-with-jairus-byrd-andy-levitre-while-staff-evaluates-roster.html
  12. I don't have extreme insight into his play but I thought he was aggressive and all over the field. I think he could actually be a good one. Anyone else agree?
  13. I know it's long over already, but that titans game is going to be the death of us
  14. I had so much hope for this season. While I don't think Fitz is the answer I thought he'd at least be adequate. And the defense! I couldn't believe we got Mario. But this has been an utter disaster. We never get better. Year after year, just stuck in the same 6=10 season. It's unreal. There is an up and down in the NFL. Teams getting better, teams getting worse., but we are always the same. It's just embarassing. I don't even know where to point the finger. At least under Jauron they seemed to try. THis is the lowest I've felt as a fan since the Music City Miracle. I just don't know if this is going to get any better...ever...
  15. So this isn't looking too promising. Anyone else?
  16. True, but I was sitting right by the play. The off arm wasn't pulling, pushing or holding. It was just around his waist. An experienced NFL ref doesn't make that call
  17. IS that gonna be the new Nevada Smith's? Across from Penny Farthing? Just found out it is. But this bar will be open sooner. Maybe go there for the few weeks before the one on 13th and 3rd opens. The owner I'm friends with is very friendly with him and just found out she had no idea he was going to make it Bills b ut recognized what a huge fan he was
  18. One of the most unfortunate things is that on the TD in the corner against McKelvin it was probably the first time I actually saw him to and actually look to jump and make a play on the ball. He was a split second late and almost made a great play. I agree the secondary was awful but on 3rd and 6, the play Williams was called for pass INT was one of the worst calls I've ever seen. Before some Jets fans saw the flag they were booing Sanchez and thought the pass was defended well.
  19. Ok great, If I'm able to get more like you they have no problem doing it. They just want to make sure they have a decent crowd and I've told them Bills fans come to watch win or lose. So I'll keep note of people who are interested and I'll let them know after a while how many I think will show. Thanks again!
  20. Hey everyone, I've been a longtime poster on the board now and am looking for some input. I used to go to MCFaddens every week to watch the Bills and have been to Kelly's as well. But I have two friends who currently own a bar in the West Village (which is a Bears bar) and they will be opening another in the beginning of October on the East Side on 17th and 3rd. They are both from Ireland and hold no allegiance to any team. I asked them jokingly if they could make it a Bills bar, and they said if I could guarantee around 40-50 people every week they would have the Bills on most all screens and the sound on the Bills. It's a nice sized bar as well and thought I might as well try and help them out. Over 10 screens as well and food with drink specials. Would any of you be interested, or even live in the area? I thought this would be a good place to try and recruit as I only know a small number of Bils fans in NYC. Please let me know and I'll try to get it organized as a Bills bar as soon as they open. Any suggestions would be helpful as well.
  21. Condolences to you and your family. You father did some great work, you should be proud
  22. This from rotoworld and John Clayton. Don't know if it means much but is at least promising, especially for those of us that didn't want to take him. He's a bigger corner and very physical. They can use him against the top TE's and we may have something special in him. ESPN's John Clayton reported on SportsCenter Sunday that Bills first-round pick Stephon Gilmore was one of the most impressive rookies at rookie camps around the league. Per Clayton, Gilmore had an interception at almost every practice while starring at right cornerback. Clayton also mentioned that the Bills have designs on using Gilmore to cover tight ends like Aaron Hernandez in the AFC East. Rookie minicamp practice reports aren't necessarily indicative of future success, but Gilmore has star potential and will play a huge role in his first season.
  23. We know we have a need of a big receiver opposite Stevie. I have a feeling that the reason we didn't go out and get one in the draft so far is because they really like Easley and think he can make a difference this year.
  24. Absolutely thrilled! Got two edge rushers in Mario and Anderson, a huge corner with shut down potential, a LT with the size of an elephant and a speedster. I'm really happy. And for those not happy about the TJ pick, tell me you knew any of the 20 picks after him? A punter went next...
