A Few Thoughts About The Game
Got_Wood replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly. You don't see any fight in these players when they're down. You see them jogging to the sidelines slowly with their heads down. It's a trickle down effect. You can't be this bad in so many phases of the game and blame the players. These guys went to the same colleges as the rest of the players in this league. In fact, I saw college teams this weekend look more professional and disciplined than our Bills. In fact, I think a college team could BEAT our Bills. THAT is sad. -
How long has Turk been up in the booth?
Got_Wood replied to d_wag's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No, I agree. He should be up there. Best offensive play calls I've seen all year. Stick with what works. -
McKelvin - Congrats on the big day
Got_Wood replied to Kipers Hair's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Those aren't gang signs bud. He's giving the "x factor" sign. Roscoe does it, just like most kick and punt returners do in this league. -
No interceptions, forced fumbles, sacks
Got_Wood replied to Got_Wood's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You're right. Tackling hurts us as well. I really think the problem with the defense was a lack of pressure. ESPECIALLY against great Quarterbacks. You can't give guys like Warner, Brady, or Manning time. They will find open receivers, and they will score lots of points. That is how the Giants won the Superbowl. They pounded Brady. We are going to need to draft a big DE or DT next year. Maybe both. For now, I would really like to see Ellis get some playing time. Copeland Bryan is absolutely terrible. -
Check out this link (I know it is SI Kids magazine, but I googled o-line stats). It is very telling: http://www.sikids.com/football/nfl/stats/2...SH_YDS_AVG.html The things that stand out to me: - 2.1 yard rushing average up the middle. - Near the bottom of the league in average yards per rush at 3.5 - 18th in rushing. Marshawn and Freddie are way too good to be 18th. There is a problem in our o-line, and it appears that it is either Dockery or Fowler. Could be both. This is definitely an area we need to focus on in the draft next year.

ZERO. We played prevent defense. It reminded me of the sunday night game against New England last year when we got destroyed in front of a national audience. Fewell CANNOT game plan like this. We need to pressure the Quarterback in order to cause turnovers and make critical stops. On offense... we were sacked FIVE times, lost THREE fumbles, and threw an interception. Had we controlled the ball, had more time of posession, and reduced errors, we would have been in this game. Trent is crucial to our success. THAT is why we lost.

Is it possible that the Raiders are acting like a miserable organization in order to gain an edge each week? I know it sounds out there, but if the opposing team takes the Raiders for granted each week then it gives them an advantage come game time. Each week, there are reports that Kiffin will be fired and the organization is in total disarray. Is this what Davis wants? Maybe I'm giving them too much credit. But it appears that Lane is starting to turn that team in the right direction.

I agree. Whitner can show us all why he was the top safety in that draft with a big performance this week. I can't wait to see how fired up this defense is going to be.

Top 5 stories... 1. Bills run defense: will the additions of Stroud and Mitchell, and the return of Poz help this defense continue stuffing opposing running backs? This is a big test this weekend. 2. Donte Whitner vs. Michael Huff: who was the better first round pick? 3. Langston Walker: will he show the Raiders that they made a big mistake in letting him go? 4. Marshawn Lynch: will he step up this game and run for over 100 yards, and show the league what a dynamic running back he really is? 5. Trent Edwards: will he continue his success and excellent decision making week after week? Is he finally the quarterback we have been waiting for? This game is going to answer a lot of questions for us. I can't wait until Sunday!!!

Blow to the QB's Head on Trent Edwards fumble?
Got_Wood replied to Billsfanfourlife's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm sorry, but that was just a FOOTBALL hit. There was no intention to hurt Trent there. Move on. -
It seemed like every time I looked for Bryan out there, he was getting tossed around. He basically was a non-factor. From what I remember about Ellis from the preseason, he looked much more explosive and dangerous out there. I think if there is one change to the lineup, that is the one we make.

I think a huge issue that you will notice at many professional sports games, is the people that buy the best seats up at the stadium and try to make a huge profit on them. If you noticed, a HUGE chunk of lower level 50 yard line seats were empty at the game on Sunday. While I think the heat was one of the problems, I think the biggest problem was online scalpers.

I don't think we should take this team lightly. They have some weapons out there (D-Mac), and their O-line is looking pretty good. Their defense isn't terrible either. They have one of the better secondaries in the league (if they can put their ego aside and just play). I like our chances against the Raiders, but we need to have a solid game plan and we need to FINISH our tackles in order to win.

Why does the Jason Peters situation bother you more!
Got_Wood replied to DIE HARD 1967's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would love to see if ANYONE has EVER done that before. And it's hilarious because Peters just doesn't fit the profile of a guy who even SHOULD be doing this. If it were Evans or Stroud it would make sense. But Peters?! No one knows who the hell Peters is except for sports analysts. He could disappear and no fan will know the difference in 5 years. If I were him, I would want to prove my worth on the field before I never get to see the turf again. -
When is the point of no return for Evans?
Got_Wood replied to JK2000's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly. If you think this team doesn't need Evans, then you must be comfortable watching the Bills continue to lose more games than they win every year. Watch as he destroys opposing defenses this year again and rethink the whole "we don't need Evans" argument. -
When is the point of no return for Evans?
Got_Wood replied to JK2000's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What is wrong with you? It's unbelievable that anyone could think that about Lee Evans. He has been the ONLY bright spot on this team consistantly for the past 4 years. If he didn't play the way he did, I wouldn't have watched this miserable team. I'm loyal to those who are loyal to the Bills. And Lee has shown me a lot this offseason. -
When is the point of no return for Evans?
Got_Wood replied to JK2000's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It would make the front office look incredibly bad if Evans didn't get a new deal in the near future. With the way things have panned out in the Peters situation, this front office would have some explaining to do. In order to keep your fans, you've got to keep your best players. Not watch them play a few years and ship them out. Buffalo has some great young talent on this team. It's up to Brandon and company to NOT SCREW IT UP. -
Ok, so I'm not the only one then. He better make this team.
-
As an OT for the Cardinals. Always thought he was a better tackle than a guard. Would actually be nice to have him around right now.
-
I'm not sure why he's even considered a bubble player on this team. He's made more big plays than any of the other corners on the roster, in practice and in games. And he has far more ability than Will James. Yes, he has to prove he can be consistent on the field. He made a fairly obvious mistake against Pitt a couple weeks ago. And there are some mental errors here and there. But overall, he's been very solid. I'm wondering if the Bills are calling him a bubble guy because they don't want to end up giving him a lucrative extension.

Let's not give Jauron credit like that. We've seen this a hundred times. What a sissy.

Warning on the last preseason game
Got_Wood replied to DIE HARD 1967's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree 100%. Not only does it make games more meaningful, but it also makes it that much more exciting when each team takes the field. Baseball and basketball games aren't as exciting because they play 3 times a week. Each sport would be better off if they cut the number of games played in half. I hope that the NFL doesn't change too much. -
Warning on the last preseason game
Got_Wood replied to DIE HARD 1967's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You can't evaluate run blocking when the opposing team knows that you are running the ball to kill the clock. I like Jauron in general. BUT, his inability to motivate and his conservative game management drive me crazy. -
Warning on the last preseason game
Got_Wood replied to DIE HARD 1967's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's why it was laughable that Jauron was trying to run out the clock in the 3rd quarter when we were ahead against the Colts this past week. What kind of evaluation is that? We don't need to win. We need to see which players are going to stand out on this roster. -
I think the Superbowl is up for grabs this year. Do I think the Bills are capable of getting there? Not too sure about that. The big question marks for me are Dick Jauron's coaching ability, our team's health, and our offense's ability to put the ball in the end zone. It may take another year and another coach (Cowher sure would be nice). But, there is a good chance that this team makes a run for the playoffs and maybe more. Talent wise, we're looking very good right now. It's a matter of this team coming together as a unit and feeling like they have a chance to win every time they step on the field.
