If so, we should hire Adam Schefter as a GM.
-
I'm sure you're kind of right about this. Maybe it's not that he doesn't care, but that he's just tired of changing coaches. Since he's owned the team, Wilson has hired 14 head coaches. I think he's simply too old for this. He probably believes that he has done everything he can to make this work, and has exhausted all of his efforts. The problem is that he won't give the keys to a GM to make decisions entirely on his own. Brandon has done nothing but make marketing decisions for the team. He wanted Jauron gone after last season and he didn't get to make his own call. We will only succeed when someone takes over with these qualifications: - Has connections throughout the league. No more dead beats that can't pull off a trade or bring in players that fit our needs properly. We need someone like Polian, Parcells, Pioli, or Dimitroff. These guys know people around the league, as well as college football. They talk to people consistently and know how to get a deal done. - Knows the game of football and has worked at the professional level for a significant amount of time. No non-football guys belong as GM's at the professional level in the NFL. - Holds his staff and players accountable for their actions. You don't perform as a coach, you're fired. You don't play 100% every week as a player, you're cut. - Capable of hiring a staff of his own. Give him the keys. I'm holding my breath...

ESPN Insider: TO a fit in Chicago?
Got_Wood replied to BfloBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Really? He's got two 1,000 yard seasons with terrible quarterbacks. I'm pretty sure he can get open. Edwards can't get him the ball. The o-line is a big part of that problem, but Edwards vision is the primary reason for it. And this no huddle offense is destroying us... -

I don't think you're getting the point. TO isn't going to get us to the playoffs this year, and there is no way in hell that he will want to resign with us next season. We'll have Evans, Hardy, Reed, Johnson, and Parrish as our receivers for the rest of the season. That and Nelson and Fine at tight end. We need to evaluate the talent we have right now. If Hardy isn't our guy, we need to find out THIS season. -
I think they're also WAY too quick to place guys on IR. McKelvin didn't need to go there. And it seems like we threw Mitchell and Buggs on there before we even got the prognosis on their injuries. Dick is trying to save his ass.

Yup, I agree. And we'll be getting James Hardy back soon anyways. This season needs to be used to evaluate the talent we have, and improve so that we come out better next season. I'll only be able to watch these games if we change up the lineup a little bit and watch some of our younger guys play (Harris, Maybin, Byrd, Palmer, Hardy, Steve Johnson, etc.). -

Chicago and Baltimore are both great fits for TO. I know he's friends with Ray Lewis also. It's a good idea to unload TO, no doubt about it. I think he's a very good receiver that's being wasted in Buffalo, and we would benefit more as a team if we got something in return for him right now. Do it. He should bring back a 2nd or 3rd round pick. -
I don't think that Marty Ball is what this team needs. We need someone a little younger and more aggressive. Someone everyone can get behind and win with. Gruden and Cowher fit the mold a little better.

What do you think Ralph's deal is?
Got_Wood replied to BillnutinHouston's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the whole "you should be grateful Buffalo has a team" act has to end. If you own a team, you need to manage it for success. No half ass attempts at running a franchise, regardless of your financial position. It comes down to this... any man needs to know when it is time to call it quits. Ralph is well past his prime as an owner of a professional football team, just like Levy is past his prime as a coach. Guys like Al Davis need to realize this as well. Everyone can appreciate what these guys have done for their teams in the past and what they have done for the league in general. But like any business, there comes a time where the owner/CEO/President needs to hand down the reigns to the next generation. That time should have been 5-10 years ago, but it's never too late. Please Ralph... for your fans, for your players, for the team's status in the city of Buffalo... do the right thing and sell the team. -
Palmer, Ellison, and Harris should be the call.

I agree. We've got some talented guys like Steve Johnson and Nic Harris riding the bench, and we keep playing guys like Corto and Buggs and Parrish who give us nothing out there on the field. No decision with this team shocks me anymore.

Look at Orton today: Clearly coaching matters
Got_Wood replied to Got_Wood's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Point taken. I also think both have a lot to do with Orton's success. Whether or not Edwards makes it as the Bills QB, we need a change BIG TIME in our coaching staff. We need a disciplinarian, a film rat, a leader, and a guy that can get his players fired up. No more second rate push overs here in Buffalo. -

Like I said, I don't think Edwards has the potential to be great. I'm simply pointing out the fact that coaching can make a player better. A system that is designed for success will do wonders for you as a QB. Are you saying that Orton would have been this good if he played on Chicago again this year? I don't think so. McDaniels is taking him to the next level. I think that this thread is more about the fact that our coaching sucks than trying to defend Edwards. -

Ortons First year starting: 1,869 yds 9 TDs 13 Ints Bottom line is, he wasn't very good. Even with those numbers from last year. JP Losman put up 3,051 yds 19 TDs and 14 Ints for us one year. Are you telling me he is good? McDaniels took Orton to the next level. There is no question about it. -

Orton was terrible in Chicago. Atrocious actually. I don't think Edwards is capable of being great. But I think he could be much better with a quality coach guiding him along. Did you see our offense at the end of the game? Running around confused before the snap, not sure where to lineup. It's embarrassing. Everything about the way this team is managed is embarrassing. -
He looks like a completely different QB with Josh McDaniels coaching. This kid has all of the same tools Edwards has, but he's being coached to succeed. The firing of Jauron can't happen soon enough...

Apparently NE plays to diff rules
Got_Wood replied to bills_fan_in_raleigh's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I completely agree that those calls against Bell were made up, and officials can make that call on any play they want. I don't even know why I care anymore though... -
That really does make me want to cry.

New addition to the list from Tim Graham on ESPN.

I actually like Fewell as a short term solution. He has a little bit of fire to him. Probably a little better short term solution than April (don't get me wrong I really like April, just not as the head coach). And no, this game should have NOTHING to do with whether Jauron stays or goes. This should already be decided.
-
quick bump for the heck of it...
-
Yeah, I think that's an uneducated generalization about the state of the Bills. Size hasn't gotten these guys hurt. Bell, Butler, Poz, and Scott are not undersized for their position. It comes down to the head coach: the philosophy, the discipline, the clock management, the personnel decisions, the motivation... none of these areas are where they need to be for success. We're one of the most penalized teams in the league, Edwards has been sacked 2nd most of any QB in the league, we kneel before half time when there is still valuable time left to get points on the board, we can't challenge officiating calls efficiently, our offensive playbook is "vanilla" yet we can't seem to run it fluidly... the list goes on. Do I even need to back up the fact that Jauron needs to be fired this very minute. This is really pushing my ability to remain a fan of this team. I'm holding on as much as I possibly can here...
