  1. It doesn't take much to get placed on IR with 3 games left. They just want as many healthy guys as possible for the rest of the year. I think it's a pretty minor injury.
  2. You might be right. The source seems shaky. Will wait for details from credible outlets.
  3. Just confirmed... http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/story/1266889...omestic-dispute *(updated with a more credible article)
  4. Read the city residents reaction in the comments below the article. They are tired of the greed in the NFL, and are basically saying "adios" to the Chargers. I happen to agree that the NFL has gotten extremely greedy, and is becoming a rich man's game. When do people say enough is enough? Pretty interesting development... http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/2009/de...-money-stadium/
  5. Henderson fractured his femur. That's a bone you don't want to break, and it can be a very serious injury.
  6. All assumptions. I could also say this: Russell Okung = Mike Williams Rolando McClain = Vernon Gholston Gerald McCoy = Glenn Dorsey Anyone can end up being a bust. But when you've got a top 10 pick, you take a shot at a potential star. You have the opportunity to snag one of the top 10 players in the entire nation coming out of college. I see quite a few QB's with that possibility. Forget raw measurables. Because based on that, Jimmy Clausen is supposedly the best QB candidate. Forget his bad attitude, happy feet in the pocket, marginal leadership ability, and questionable decision making. Mel Kiper has rated him #1. If I look at skill combined with work ethic, attitude, leadership ability, pedigree, and straight up ability to win... you have to look at guys like McCoy, Tebow, Bradford, Pike, Locker, Mallett, and Lefevour. Supposedly Phil Rivers had terrible throwing mechanics, and Ben Roethlisberger had marginal mobility and couldn't escape the rush, and Tom Brady was unathletic, etc etc etc. You've got to put all the pieces together to make your final decision on whether or not to take a player in the draft. I hope we assemble a new front office with leaders that carefully make these decisions.
  7. Couldn't agree with you more. These guys have no vision for this team. They're just throwing darts every year and hoping. It most definitely starts with a new front office and coaching staff. We can't get anywhere without a big improvement on top.
  8. Nowhere in there did I say these guys were a sure thing. But, there is a better chance of landing a talented QB when there are more talented players to choose from. While I agree that maybe 80% of these guys will end up not making it, I think the Bills need to take that 20% chance of landing the next franchise guy. We'll have a top 10 pick. We need to snag a star player in that bunch. There are no guarantees, but that doesn't mean you don't try.
  9. I laugh every time someone claims this is not a good year for drafting a QB. This is THE YEAR to draft a QB. There hasn't been this much QB talent in a draft in a long time. The draft is simply just over analyzed. There are 2 Heisman Trophy winners in Bradford and Tebow (potentially 3 if McCoy wins this year). And Clausen, Locker, Snead, Pike, LeFevour, and Robinson ALL have starting potential. And Mallett may declare as well. That's TEN QB's Buffalo has a shot at. What's the dilemma here? ****, I'd take 2 of them just to increase the potential of us landing a starter.
  10. The best games in any sport (football, basketball, baseball, hockey, etc.), are when the referees stay out of it unless they have to. This game is beyond ridiculous.
  11. I don't like it when the Bills are the sacrificial lambs for other teams on national television. It seems to be our specialty lately.
  12. Wow, that's the spirit Ebenezer Scrooge.
  13. No doubt, Reggie was a huge signing for the Pack. And he did wonders for the franchise for many years. There was a time when Buffalo had one of the highest payroll's in the league. When you're winning, it all doesn't seem to matter. Can't wait for those days to return.
  14. If there was anything positive about signing TO this year, it's that he opened up the possibility of other free agents signing here as well. In this league you have to have stars not only to draw in other players, but to draw in fans... and in turn get nationally televised games. Without that, you have no marketing appeal. If I were to grade the city of Buffalo, I would give it a D- for marketing itself horribly. One mention of Buffalo to anyone, and the reaction you get is always negative (especially in regard to sports). It's a "frozen tundra". It's "depressing". "No one wants to play there". Negative, negative, negative. Have a little pride Buffalo. Don't tuck your tail and hide. Fight back. The sports teams are a great way to start building a positive image of a city. Look at what LeBron did for Cleveland. They went from "mistake on the lake", to "Rise Up" and "We are all witnesses". The drafting of Reggie Bush and signing of Drew Brees ignited an entire city decimated by Hurricane Katrina. That city had nothing, but their football team gave them something to root for. Albert Pujols has reinvigorated St. Louis in baseball, Peyton Manning put Indianapolis on the map, Dwight Howard is making people forget who Shaq was in Orlando. My point... when you have an opportunity to get a potential star on your team, you go get him. You don't wait for him to fall into your lap. If we have a shot at Tebow, we take him. It's not a reach for this team. We don't have the luxury of waiting any longer, or hoping the next star shows up in western New York. Now is the time for risks for this team. That includes any trades or free agent pickups we can get. I would even go as far as to draft Tebow AND sign Mike Vick. Bring it on. We've got nothing to lose. As soon as you start winning games, the clouds start to clear and light begins to shine through. All the losing and depressing days of the past become a distant memory.
  15. Completely agree. I thought the same thing early on this season. But this guy has really come around. I think we need to grab another Guard or Center in rounds 2 or 3. And I really hope Wood is ok, because he was really starting to come around also. Meredith or Bell could end up being good RT's down the line. Butler should go back to Guard, but he can't be depended on to last a full season. The big question mark is Left Tackle.
  16. This is his 4th season. Not many starts in that time, but he doesn't really have the rookie excuse at this point. I think Fitzpatrick has played it smart this year. Throw it to TO and he'll make you look good. That's something Trent couldn't figure out (which is kind of disturbing). And he communicates well with his teammates. You can see it when you watch the game. After the offense leaves the field, he's over there talking to his receivers and coaches about what they could have done differently, or what they need to do on the next series based on coverages they're seeing. That was also frustrating when Edwards was the starter. He always seemed to be by himself on the sidelines after each series. What Fitzpatrick lacks is pure athleticism. He's not as gifted as guys like Manning, Brady, Brees, Rivers, or Palmer. He's maybe 6'2", but doesn't make up for it with great accuracy or arm strength like Brees does. He has trouble seeing over the o-line across the middle. He doesn't have that killer instinct that you look for in clutch situations (although he has shown flashes, like the late game audible to Owens last week). We'll see what he's got the rest of this year. He could end up being worthy of a starting position, or at least a good guy to have around if we do end up bringing in a rookie.
  17. Just wait until the season is over before you judge. Everyone needs to stop acting like Buffalo is the ugly stepchild of the NFL. Get OVER that. This team was the best in the league during the late 80's and early 90's and we had one of the biggest payrolls in the NFL. That wasn't very long ago folks. Don't buy into the ESPN nonsense that no one wants to be in Buffalo.
  18. I don't get it. He was just fired because he couldn't get the job done at Notre Dame. Just because he came from Bellichik's staff and had the opportunity to coach at a big name program because of that, doesn't make him a good head coach candidate. Not many people even like the guy from what I know about him. Arrogant jerk is the first thing that comes to mind actually. He may be a good coordinator, but head coach doesn't appear to be the best fit for him. Especially since he was just fired at the collegiate level.
  19. What you're missing here is that Clayton doesn't have a clue what he's talking about. He's on the ESPN bandwagon, remember? It's all speculation at this point. We have to wait until this season is over before we hear any real news. What's not attractive about Buffalo? $10 mil a year, cap room to work with for players, a high 1st round pick, and power to make personnel decisions. Would these coaches rather be A.) unemployed, B.) another moron commentator for a major network, C.) work for Dan Snyder, or D.) Live in Houston (ugliest city in the US). Those options sound terrible. The only other positions I see Shannahan considering are Chicago and Dallas. Cowher will consider coaching after this season, and so will Dungy, Gruden, and Marty. Just a gut feeling.
  20. I agree with you somewhat. But these younger guys (LeVitre, Bell, and Meredith) can use all the advice they can get. Having a guy like Runyan on the roster can only help improve these kids abilities. Would have liked to sign Runyan about a month ago for that reason alone.

  22. There are two MAJOR problems with the Chargers building a new stadium downtown: 1. There is no room. It would be the smallest area that any stadium in the country has to build. Parking would be near impossible, and tailgating would be non-existent. 2. They have no money. San Diego is incredibly broke. Their current stadium is a mess, and they can't even afford to improve what they've got. I don't see how they can finance this. San Diego and Jacksonville should be the top 2 candidates for relocation.
  23. You missed the point. I said they have "theoretically" followed a diagram that might bring you a high powered offense. But they have no guidance, no system, and no discipline from the front office down to the coaching staff. It's as bad of a train wreck as the Bills organization. They may have a leg up on us though since their billionaire owner has now supposedly started taking this personally. He may actually start to care a little bit about the Browns instead of his big time Euro Football franchise. We're stuck in purgatory.
  24. I agree with iluk92. My opinion is that the Bills would have a little better record, but in no position to contend in the playoffs. They would still be disorganized, and lack any kind of identity. Basically they would have another superstar pissed off like TO is right now, that he made a stupid decision to sign with a bad franchise. We need a new leader of this organization off the field to get better on the field.
  25. I'll add that they have a nearly identical offensive coaching scenario to the Bills. Mangini spent most of his career as a defensive coach, specifically as a defensive backs coach. And their offensive coordinator Daboll is in his first season as offensive coordinator, and doesn't have the experience necessary to be in his position. He has 4 years experience as a WR coach, and 1 year experience as a QB coach. Prior to that he was actually a defensive assistant. That is eerily similar to the Bills mess. How can NFL teams that make millions and millions of dollars, be this poorly managed??? Unbelievable.
