  1. Now the question is, who gets the boot when Peters reports? Hamden? Preston? Chamberlain? Bryan?
  2. Don't even begin thinking he is an option here. The Peters thing won't go on forever, and Anderson isn't a player to be headed to the bench when Peters finally shows. Wade would be a better option, however I think we'd be better served keeping Bell on the active roster rather than risking he makes it through waivers. I have to believe a team like Indianapolis or Detroit would consider claiming him after they saw his talent first hand.
  3. And in an effort of fairness, Revis played pretty darn good last year for a rookie. As for DEs, Shaun Ellis is still a Jet eight years after being drafted, and John Abraham was a difference maker eventually traded for a high pick. D'Brickashaw Ferguson will turn out, and Mangold is already a great center. The bad picks were Bryan Thomas and Dewayne Roberston, both drafted under Herm Edwards.
  4. I don't think one preseason defines a player. If it did, McKelvin would be defined as strictly a return specialist.
  5. Last year, if I remember correctly, they did it earlier. Looks like they'll be going right up to the deadline this year.
  6. You talking about a high school game or something?
  7. When Peters reports, he'll play. When Walter Jones sat out the entire training camp/preseason because of the franchise tag, he showed up right before week one and always played. Peters will be no exception.
  8. I think it's hilarious, too. It's refreshing to see/hear something different than the some mundane news all the time.
  9. First and foremost, DO NOT buy a new jersey unless he has a new deal. That being said, I do think Evans will be re-signed. There are multiple reasons, especially the fact that he's a company guy. I think you could have said the same for Moulds when he got his big deal from us. Worst case scenario, they franchise him next year. That does not guarantee that we keep him (the cost of the franchise tag is going up and up with other big deals), but I believe he'll have a new deal with us.
  10. I highly doubt it. He is raw at tackle as it is; making him a center would only work in Madden.
  11. Fair enough. I guess I was referring to the idea that one of the teams in your division would go from minimal national coverage (Buffalo Bills) to major national coverage (shudder - Toronto Bills). It just seems like it would help increase your blog's exposure, thus increasing your exposure. That is all I was inferring.
  12. Tim, I am really curious for an honest answer. I should preface it by saying I was a large fan of yours covering the Sabres, but was disappointed when you left for the Dolphins (I understand it was a positive career move going from covering the NHL to the NFL). But I have noticed in reading your blog that you consistently push the idea of the Bills moving. I don't feel like you have any belief the Bills will remain in Buffalo. And I guess that's fine, it's a personal opinion you've developed. I don't think you've been fair - I feel like other AFC East fans reading the blog would get the impression that it's hopeless - but that is my opinion. My question is, are you thinking in the back of your mind that the Bills moving to Toronto is something that will help you professionally? I don't think you would admit it, but I get the impression based on your blogs that it might be something you'd prefer. I'm sure you have some allegiances here to Buffalo, but I am just telling you how I have perceived some of the blogs.
  13. Fair enough. I should add though that Andre Johnson was gone before my second pick (remember, this is a 12 man PPR league). And I also saw a report out of Denver that Marshall's suspension could actually be reduced from 3 games to only 1. That is very tempting.
  14. I don't know man, I think I'd ride it out. I love Lynch and Roehlisberger, but you have to look at it like this: You can only start one QB, so aren't you better served with Schaub and Tomlinson rather than Roethlisberger and Lynch? I think so.
  15. I just saw you call BobFreakinVila's draft solid, but if you line up the two teams you'd have to give mine the edge, player by player. Roetherlisberger > Anderson Tomlinson > Lynch White = T Jones Fargas < J Jones J Hester = F Jackson Houshmanzadeh < Wayne Marshall > R Williams Coles > Bowe Walter > Hardy D Hester = Hackett Clark > V Davis Gould < Crosby Colts D < Cowboys D I think I am being very fair in that assessment. That says
  16. Well, in regards to the Housh pick... Moss, Owens, Wayne, Edwards, Fitzgerald, Colston, and Welker were all taken leading up to that selection in the second round. If I did not select a receiver with either my 2/3 pick (it was the swing pick) I would have been screwed. So I felt very comfortable going with a guy that had over 100 receptions last year, and is going into a contract year this season. As for Roethlisberger... I acquired him last year the week he threw for like five TDs. Did I want to take him that high? Absolutely not. I really wanted one of the big 4 and obviously none of them were there. I know there is typically not much of a difference between the second tier QBs versus the third and fourth tier, however I personally like him this year. He's got two nice rookie weapons to add to the mix, a healthy Willie Parker, an experienced Santonio Holmes. The only thing that concerns me is the line. If would have passed on Big Ben, I would have been able to select either McNabb or Hasslebeck next time around. Most people would say those guys would be better value, which is fine, but I believe in Roethlisberger this year. I can't say the same about those other two QBs.
  17. Yeah, I was cringing at his blasts... but that's a guy just giving it everything he's got. I'll tell you what, if he makes the team (I am sure he will, but you never know) and keeps that up on special teams, he'll become a cult fan favorite in no time.
  18. I think the worst part is the silence as soon as the ball is snapped. Once the play is over, "Nice play."
  19. Just had it earlier today. It's a 12-man league. PPR. QB, 2RB, RB/WR, 2WR, TE, D, K I had the first overall pick. 1 - RB L Tomlinson 2 - WR T Houshmanzadeh 3 - QB B Roethlisberger (QB TDs still worth same as RB/WRs, 6 points) 4 - WR B Marshall 5 - TE D Clark 6 - RB L White 7 - WR L Coles 8 - RB J Fargas 9 - QB M Bulger 10 - D Colts 11 - TE T Scheffler 12 - WR K Walter 13 - RB J Hester 14 - RB K Watson 15 - WR D Hester 16 - K R Gould I'm especially happy with Brandon Marshall after hearing (after the draft) that he might only miss one game. Not crazy about Fargas. Really liked Scheffler's value in 11. Took Jacob Hester a little early as my handcuff, but he's looked good in preseason and I didn't want anyone to screw me.
  20. I was just looking at your roster sig... No Donnie Spragan or Will James?
  21. The Bills would be better served leaving the roster spot for Derrick Fine or Courtney Anderson. Pollard is a little long in the tooth.
  22. He was referring to why team's trade a guy in the first place. It doesn't matter that the season hasn't started. He is implying the the team trading the player knows something, which is why a guy like McGahee or, hopefully not, Stroud, doesn't pan out.
