  1. I'm pretty sure he only said take the Dolphins, he did not pick them to win. I know the spread is 1 1/2, but that doesn't mean the Bills can't win and not cover.
  2. Yeah, I think it has to be injury issues. If he hasn't found a home yet, he's probably done for.
  3. Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeyyyyyyyyy, what's that supposed to mean <hands on hips>?
  4. It's not fair for Bob DiCesare to compare the JP Losman trade-up with what the Chiefs were looking for. Is the package they paid for Losman high? Obviously, but it's not an unreasonable package to pay for the guy you think is the QB of your future. Teams pay the right price and whiff all of the time.
  5. What is everyone's feelings at this point? I'm not optimistic. It's not a bad thing, but I just don't get the feeling something will be done before 4 p.m. Part of that skepticism stems from the lack of trades in the NFL (especially at the deadline). The other part stems from the fact that if the Bills were truely interested, they probably could have hammered out a deal a week ago and spent the bye week preparing Gonzalez.
  6. Come on, I love my Bills but the teams you listed (TB, GB and PHI) have just a good a chance as we do. Those teams have all been to the playoffs recently. We haven't.
  7. That's not really a fair comparison. I love Fred Jackson, but he is still a great utility man (not starter) whereas Gonzalez is SIGNIFICANTLY better than Royal.
  8. Fred Jackson isn't going anywhere. I will say though, I find it interesting that Bertchtold did not use this platform as an opportunity to dispell Gonzalez rumors. Hmmmm...
  9. I think it probably has more to do with special teams than anything else. Copeland Bryan has more experience than he does, and the fourth DE doesn't get enough defensive snaps to justify playing Ellis over Bryan right now. On top of that, Bryan has probably been working harder in practice. Bryan is a former undrafted free agent trying to hang on. Ellis is a third round pick. He isn't playing with the same urgency. It's sad, but often true.
  10. No, the real problem in your suggestion is that the Chiefs already have a JP Losman on their team in Brodie Croyle. Losman has absolutely positively no value to the Kansas City Chiefs. And this isn't Madden where you can just plug in a QB and see what he does. He has to learn a brand new offense on the fly. I'm not a Losman hater, but he's not exactly Favre winging it with the Jets.
  11. I should probably implicitly state the sarcasm
  12. Maybe we could make it a swap of failed number ones: Alex Smith and Vernon Davis for JP Losman and John McCargo
  13. You guys are not being very realistic. First of all, he would absolutely be worth a draft pick. At least a third round pick. He's only 32 and under contract for the remainder of this year and next at a manageable $12.3 million (over this season and next season). And I say manageable when you consider top flight guys are getting nearly $10 million per season now. Secondly, this is not a Bills-type acquisition. He would stunt the growth of a guy like Hardy. There is nothing Holt is going to show him that Evans can't. The Bills have made a conscious effort to go young. This goes against that.
  14. He is 32, still effective. He's got a large contract ($17 million guaranteed, that's a lot for a tight end). Factoring all of that in, he would probably fetch third and sixth round pick. By comparison, Jeremy Shockey is four years younger and netted a second and fifth rounder.
  15. This is a really interesting question. I have taken another look at the draft to see how it played out. Even if we knew Youboty would be this good, I think they would have taken McKelvin simply because of the value at pick 11. He could have gone as early as 7. Now, if they weren't enamored with McKelvin, their only other option would have been to trade down a little and select a WR (Devin Thomas) or another CB (Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie or Aquib Talib, and then vice versa in round two. I think the draft played out exceptionally for the Bills and they still would not have changed anything - although I'm still a believer that they were lucky Hardy fell to them in the second.
  16. I know when you start listening to the fans, you'll be joining them quickly BUT, at the time of that pick, if we had taken a QB AND taken Cutler over Leinart, it would have been bad. Obviously, it seems like Cutler is going to be a very good pro and Leinart is a mess, but I think taking Cutler at 8 over Leinart would have seemed as bad as the Whitner pick.
  17. I know there have been many threads dedicated to the selection of Donte Whitner at number 8 and whether or not he was/is worth it. But three seasons later, isn't it odd to think about our defense if Huff actually fell to us and we selected him over Whitner? I'm not going to totally dog Huff because I can't imagine how difficult it must be to develop as a player in Oakland. But Whitner clearly has leadership ability that you don't find too often. I just keep feeling better and better about that pick, and I think we lucked out with Huff going to Oakland.
  18. I promise you we won't go 16-0, so losing a game against a very good team with their backs against the wall at their home opener in 100-degree weather DID not cause me see the season flash before my eyes. It was a very nice win though.
  19. If that's what he meant, I still don't get it. How does a comeback road win against a very good team that was in the playoffs last year not mean anything? Even if he is referring to the standings, it doesn't make sense because I'd much rather have the tie-breaker than not. Just a silly statement.
  20. Haha, what an overreacting douche.
  21. I think they are waiting for this situation to play out because he pleaded no guilty.
  22. So then how does winning this game mean nothing? You're not a very good poster.
