  1. Gil Byrd? Really? Does you scenario allow for any new members to come on board without their next of kin?
  2. Right, that's what I though, but I guess my dream scenario hope (I think it should have at least been mentioned by Clayton) would be this: Mike Shanahan's contract runs through the next two years. I don't know what he is scheduled to make, but let's say it was $6M per. Potentially, the Bills could say we will pay you $3 the next two years (he will still collect an additional $3M each of those seasons from Denver), with two more years guaranteed at $6M per. The Bills would be on the hook for 4 yrs $18, plus whatever is owed to Jauron (minus what he makes elsewhere). I know that is probably somewhat unrealistic, but I think it should still be mentioned. There will only be so many openings this offseason - I could see Cleveland, Jacksonville/Tennessee/Houston depending on how they finish out the years, Oakland, Washington, Philadelphia possibly if they implode, Carolina if they fall off, Chicago/Green Bay. I honestly don't see crazy dollars being offered with limited jobs and this economy to ALL of the big name coaches.
  3. This segment they just had with "insider" John Clayton was just a mess. Here are some of the things... - According to Clayton, "Demetrius Byrd may be out for the season." I know it's easy to misspeak when trying to get out info, but that was just the start. - He says the economics of Jauron's firing would indicate we will not spend money on a "big name coach." Correct me if I'm wrong, but coaches like Gruden and Shanahan are currently on buyouts of their own, thus reducing the cost of their salaries (at least what we would pay) for the next one or two years (the same amount of time that we'd be on the hook for Jauron). - He says Jim Haslett would be a nice option because he is someone who Wilson is familiar with. OK, that's fine, but then he went on to say that it says something that he was able to go to the UFL and go 7-0 with Brooks Bollinger and make it to the championship game. Really? You really believe that should make him a more attractive candidate to coach in the NFL right now? Come on... - Mike Schopp brought up Jim Fassel. What he said was laughable and implies how out of touch he is. He says, "I don't know if they would be able to get someone the caliber of Fassel or if he'd even want to come..." Um, Mike, Fassel is coaching in the UFL. His last coaching job with the Ravens went so poorly that he was fired as offensive coordinator mid-season. Even with the Giants, he was 58-53-1. I don't really know what caliber Schopp was refering to.
  4. ieatcrayonz, Just another day on the Midway, taking money from the rubes?
  5. I wouldn't even want to subject a classy guy like Brooks to THIS
  6. Don't get too comfy. We have back to back 4 pm road games after the Browns.
  7. Holy cow are there a lot of former Bills on that team. I count... George Gause Teddy Lehman JP Losman Lauvale Sape Josh Scobee Manuel Wright (it may have been short-lived, but he counts haha)
  8. I always come from the school of thought that you cheer past Bills when they come to town (except the likes of McGahee, obviously). But why Hargrove? He didn't do a whole lot on the field, and he made the organization look bad three times over. He doesn't deserve any cheers. He is a loser.
  9. A wasted pick? Not exactly If you hope to be wrong, why would you "stake your repuatation" as a poster?
  10. I think they are definitely enforcing it to make up for the lost lesson after the hit-and-run. They didn't suspend him then, and he didn't keep his nose out of trouble. It's too bad, but he has no one to blame but himself. It's not Goodell's fault.
  11. How could it be better than anything in the Bills store? Regardless of the cost, what they sell at the Bills store is what the true merchandise is. Anything better or worse is not the same.
  12. I don't believe Brooks is just out on the open market, looking for work. I think the last I heard was that he was taking some time to decide whether to pursue opportunities with another team or take a front office position with the Bucs. Guys his age are in no hurry so that they don't have to participate in OTAs and mini-camps
  13. Just because a guy is repentent, doesn't make him any good. I'm just saying...
  14. It's actually a very smart football move. A lot of teams consistantly go into the offseason looking to find a kicker. Cincinnati has one that they like and they are comfortable with. So wouldn't common sense tell you that he'd be worth what the top five are kickers are making?
  15. I guess I just don't understand what you're trying to say
  16. Well, technically Unger was there for our second round pick, but it's hard to say if things would have been different had we not selected Wood at 28.
  17. I am usually indifferent towards any changes the NFL makes, but I am very passionate about a rookie cap. The numbers make no sense to me, every single year. Kind of makes you wonder how TEAMS (ultimately, they're paying it) let things spiral so out of control.
  18. Well, it would be the first time a long snapper was drafted first overall. "We really got the guy we wanted."
  19. So what seems to be the problem?
  20. If they truly wanted to get a stud left tackle and trade away picks to get him, they should have just kept Peters. A move like this doesn't help.
  21. And the flaming for starting another Pettigrew thread will commence in three... two... one...
  22. Look, I also agree that we need a DE to pressure the QB. But you also can't expect a DE at 11 to vastly improve our pass rush in his rookie year. Last year, there was a DE taken at number 2, 6, 8, and 28. Three of those selections, mind you, are before the Bills #11 this year. You know how many sacks those four players COMBINED for total in their rookie year? Less than 10.
