  1. Your logic has so many holes it's beyond comprehension. First you can't just arbitrarily give stats to JP/Lynch or JP/Evans in the 2nd Jets game. JP attempted 5 passes to Edwards 21. Without getting incredibly in depth the only real fair way to compare is only counting the games one or the other attempted all the passes in. It also means counting all rushers towards the average yards per rushing attempt. You might say Lynch didn't start all the games for JP, then I might say thats counteracted by the improved RYPA Losman brings with scrambling, which I saw in numerous games after I broke this down. Before I digress to much lets get back to the idiocy.....

You don't factor in the run defenses/pass defense strength the two faced, or the weather conditions Trent faced at the end of the year that JP never faced. Conditions that screamed stack the box. I'll break it down for you in a fair way, but before I do I know one thing for sure, Evans should always have better numbers with JP then Trent. Wouldn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out. They both excel at the same thing, namely getting the ball down field. Thats why they both got drafted together, and thats why Lee was crying for JP the whole year. If you want to build an offense around a QB who can only go deep, because his best wide outs best strength is to go deep, I'll show you a thousand ways to defend that. Actually, I don't have to show you anything, just watch the Bills games during the JP era, as he and this team was riddled with inconsistency.

    On to the FAIR comparison.

    JP started and finished

    Denver

    Pittsburgh

    Cincinnati

    Miami

    New England

    Jacksonville

    Average rush defense faced: 4.3RYPA

    Average pass defense faced: 198.7YPPG

    Average Temperature: 60 degrees

    Average Wind: 7.8mph

Bills average RYPA in these games: 4.06

Evans average yards in these games: 51.8

    Trent started and finished vs

    New York Jets

    Dallas

    Baltimore

    Washington

    Miami

    Cleveland

    New York Giants

    Philadelphia Eagles

    Average rush defense faced: 3.91RYPA

    Average pass defense faced: 211YPPG

    Average Temperature: 50.4

    Average Wind: 13.9mph

Bills average RYPA in these games: 4.05

Evans average yards in these games: 49.1

Edwards and our RB's faced run defenses .4 yards better then JP and finished with a YPC average of .01 yards worse.

JP and Lee faced pass defenses 12.3 yards better then Trent. Lee averaged 2.7 more yards in these games then he did with Trent

JP averaged playing in temperatures 9.4 degrees warmer then Trent, and with 6.1MPH winds less then Trent.

Trent played in three times the amount of precipitation then JP.

Putting stats in context suck for those who don't, and form theories based on that. If you wanna come back latter, I'll be watching you got served.

  2. I would love the trade down, just not sure if Thomas should be our guy. I wouldn't be disappointed, but I think Sweed is the more complete player and has a little more size. Devin Thomas on film, however, looks like a beast who can take a hit over the middle and isn't afraid of contact

    Ditto.

  3. Wow, Bennett is 6'6 260....and Courtney Anderson is 6'7 270....Can you imagine the two tight end set at the goal line, especially with a mamouth OL? We can either pound it or toss it up with ease

Then add in that we have Lynch running the ball, then add in Owen Schmidt (not some crappy undersized backup TE trying to play FB)

  4. Me neither. We have to pick somebody. I voted for Merling because I don't think Jenkins/Talib or Sweed/Thomas are worth that high of a pick.

This is where I disagree with a lot of people on the board.

You would rather take the 4th best DE who is projected to go mid-late first round, instead of the best WR in the draft who is projected to go mid-late first round?

  5. Nope - was all part of my master plan. When they come to Brussels for the game, they'll see hoards and hoards of Stockholm women. It's been so long since they've seen the women that they'll forget all about the game. It's very possible that not a single snap of the game will be played because the Meatballs could fail to even show up for the game! All according to plan...

Nice, that's why you get payed the big bucks.

  6. Yahoo.com ran this article on their football page, and I laughed my ass off.

Imagine the NFL had a draft that included all current players/incoming players. The draft order is based on this years draft prior to trades (or cheating). Some of the more idiotic choices are:

    4. Devin Hester KR/WR - Fourth best player in the league?

    5. Walter Jones OT - 34 years old with injury problems

    10. Jay Cutler QB - Do I need to say anything?

    11. Albert Haynesworth DT - Just added it to see what you thought of our pick.

    20. LaDainian Tomlinson RB - A 30 year old RB in the first round?

    21. Terrel Owens WR - 34 year old malcontent.

    28. Jamarcus Russel QB - Has played in all of 3 games and been terrible in all 3, sounds like one of the best players in the league to me...

    31. Ed Reed FS - You can choose a franchise LT, DE, QB, RB, or DT but you choose an old FS?

  7. 3200 yards, 20 TD, 12 INT. Anything around there and I'de be happy. But the stats don't tell the whole story. Receivers drop balls, deflected balls get intercepted, holding calls take back TD's, ect.

I'm hoping he just continues to improve, keeps hitting receivers in stride, and shows good awareness. He does that, no matter what the stats say, and I'll be fine with him as the QB for the Bills.

  8. I hear you about the logos. I like the Barcelona one because I support UNICEF and I like the old Newcastle United jersey-because I love Newcastle beer and am fond of Newcastle England. I am all about culture jamming, I hate branding, I am anti corporation, and the bombardment of marketers and advertisers makes me sick. If it wasn't for PBS I would give away me TV. I am kind of a hypocrite though- I have a big collection of soccer jerseys which I wear all the time, especially when I am doing something active (they breath nice and keep you cool). Most of the jerseys have advertisements and some have the Nike swoosh (I abhor Nike! They are despicable!)- yet I still wear them. And one of my guilty pleasures is Starbucks. So I have still not purged myself from the advertising and branding- but I am working on it. Check out the book No Logo by Naomi Klein. It really will make you rethink the corporate world

BTW here is some of the Canuck uniforms that I thought were putrid-

I'll check the book out, see how I like it. And I had no idea they had jerseys THAT bad. I'm not old enough to remember ever seeing those. (lucky me)

Yeah, those nuggets jerseys were god awful as well. How can teams come up with this crap and think that it looks good?

  9. Thank you very much, I'd take a guy like Rattay any day of the week. I think the Bills are stacked at linebacker now that they have DiGiorgio and Ellison on the bench.

For a seventh round pick, I'm thinking more along the lines of replacing Stamer. Decent size/speed, and can be a special teams ace. I agree we are pretty well set at LB for backup positions.
