Put $100 on Oklahoma to win the national championship
Lt. Dan's Revenge replied to Gordio's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Yep, OU seems like it can control its own destiny for a #1 seed looking at their remaining schedule. The only obstacles left are @Texas, who is very overrated and shouldn't be a big problem, Kansas at home, and IMO the toughest challenge they have left: @ Mizzou. Missouri is a really good basketball team and hasn't gotten enough recognition nationally. They have two forwards in DeMarre Carroll and Leo Lyons that can really score and a lot of experience in the backcourt. Duke and Wake were both absolutely brutal last night, and they cost me money in doing so . Wake had no desire to play any sort of defense, especially on Miami's best scorer McClinton all night, and with that they also had no rhythm offensively and Teague often looked like he was afraid to pull the trigger. Duke plays very good defense most nights, but is a flawed offensive team that relies on Henderson and Singler way too much. They are both good players, but not good enough to handle that type of load. I could see them losing both times to the Tar Heels; away games at Boston College and particularly at Virginia Tech are not going to be a picnic either. Neither of those teams will end up with #1 seeds. You're looking at North Carolina, UConn, Oklahoma, and either Pitt or Louisville getting the four top seeds when all is said and done IMO. -
Put $100 on Oklahoma to win the national championship
Lt. Dan's Revenge replied to Gordio's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Honestly, the government has MUCH more pressing issues that need to be dealt with rather than some guy who is putting $200 of his own money on "________ plus __" on any given night. It's a joke. -
You're right on about Toronto's play, they looked like it was their 5th game in 6 nights out there, just terrible. That Stafford goal was just ridiculous, not even fair to the defenseman he beat or Pogge. He's been playing a lot better lately and that would be big if he can stay consistent. Easily the biggest difference in this team right now though IMO is having a healthy Tim Connolly. The guy makes everyone that he is on the ice with better, and the team seems to have much more confidence when he is playing well out there, especially on the power play. He puts guys in position to make plays and get scoring chances. This is no coencidence that the team is playing better since he's been back, and I'm not counting on it, but it would be a huge boost if he could stay healthy for the rest of the season.

Put $100 on Oklahoma to win the national championship

You're right on. It's all about the draw, and what team(s) are hot coming into and throughout the tournament. I'm a huge UNC fan, but I personally think that 15-1 odds on Oklahoma is a great investment. They have undoubtedly the best player in the country IMO in Blake Griffin, other plays like his brother Taylor can also hit the glass, Willie Warren is BY FAR the most underrated freshman in the country (and may be the best when all is said and done), and Austin Johnson can really shoot the ball and doesn't turn it over much either. My concern with them would be depth, but I think the Sooners would easily be a top-3 team in the ACC or Big East as well. -
If you're so annoyed by the fact that some people like to take some time and thought to put together a mock draft, then why the hell open the thread that is titled "MOCK DRAFT" in the first place? I really do not get it. Particularly when you post this after the initial post that IMO had a lot of good insight. Grow up.

How does drafting Cushing over Laurinaitis have anything to do with "overrated PSU guys"? And does this mean you're already resigned to the fact that Posluzny, after just over a year playing in the NFL so far, overrated? I don't get it.

Do we have ANY keepers?
Lt. Dan's Revenge replied to bananathumb's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Donte Whitner needs replacing now? Just because he hasn't had the impact of a Top 20 overall pick safety in the mold of a Ed Reed or Troy Polamalu doesn't mean that he needs to be replaced at this juncture. The KID is still only going to just recently 24 when the season starts, and he has been at least a solid part of the defense the last couple of years, and by all accounts a very good leader. If he is utilized better, he could be a very, very good safety in this league IMO. Also, Kyle Williams is just fine if he is put in a rotation with 2-3 other defensive tackles. Not saying I want him to start 16 games and play the majority of the snaps, but he was damn good at times last year. -
What Scouts Inc says about the top 2 TEs
Lt. Dan's Revenge replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I REALLY do not want Pettigrew at number 11. This is just too high for a tight end that seems to have questionable speed and possibly character IMO. Time will tell about that obviously, but if everything goes the way it has been going come combine and workout time, we have to look at guys like Raji, Everette Brown, and Orakpo if he somehow slides to us before we look at a tight end at that spot. If we take one of those guys in the first, we can always make an attempt to trade back into the mid-late first round and snag a Pettigrew if the F.O. is that high on him. -
Trade threads getting ridiculous

Agreed. If I see one more ridiculous "Would you do Peters for _________?" thread I may vomit. -

Jauron Extension confirmed
Lt. Dan's Revenge replied to Sen. John Blutarsky's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Great point. This is not about being a "fair-weather fan". It is about Ralph Wilson and the rest of the front office kicking the thousands of dedicated fans that continue to support this team right in the ass by signing this clown to an extension. It isn't like people are in disarray and jumping off the wagon of this team because they are bad. Many people, including myself, consider this to be a slap in the face by this front office. Particularly considering the timing of the deal, that is EXACTLY what it is. -
Jauron Extension confirmed
Lt. Dan's Revenge replied to Sen. John Blutarsky's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Lost in all of this "Die Ralph" nonsense is the fact that Jauron signing this extension yesterday is actually true. This may be the most ludicrous, untimely, least deserved contract extension given to an NFL head coach in the history of the entire league IMO. It is plain to nearly EVERYONE that is even remotely familiar with the Bills current situation and season that Dick Jauron is hurting this team much more than he is helping it. Something needs to be done if he remains the Bills Head Coach going into next season, regardless or what happens these last two games. By the way, I don't know what can be done at all, but I'm completely open to any suggestions. We not only have the worst ownership in the NFL, I would go as far as to say we have the worst in all of professional sports. I can't see any other organization in this situation handing this lame duck choke artist a 3 year extension in the middle of a 1-7 slide, with a countless number of more than questionable coaching decisions contributing to it. I'm absolutely sick to my stomach right now, and you all should be too. -
Fantasy football question.....
Lt. Dan's Revenge replied to marauderswr80's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Welker. I honestly think that the numbers Ginn put up againt the Bills the first time will end up being his best of any game in his career. In other words, McGee should have never been on the field covering ANYONE that day and almost any wideout in the league could've put up similar numbers in the same situation as Teddy. -
3 Reasons Why Sabres are MUCH Better To Watch
Lt. Dan's Revenge replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You're right on about our sports teams. It's sad to say, but in my eyes as well both teams are pretty damn soft as a whole. As far as the Bills go, it starts with the head coach, and that has an effect on the entire team. At least the Sabres with Ruff are good at that spot, but they continue to bring in (normally from the draft) a bunch of soft European players who can "skate" but have very little ability to finish and very little desire to put their bodies on the line out there. Max is a perfect example of this. As is Kotalik IMO, who plays like he is about Roy's size rather than being 6'1 and almost 230. And he only skates when he wants to. He's Satan with less talent. There are actually probably more individual players I have a problem with on the Sabres than on the Bills, which is why I would love to see DJ outta here as soon as the season ends and an NFL-equivalent of Lindy Ruff brought in. Cowher, Spags, someone. -
Why Dick Jauron is the worst coach in the league
Lt. Dan's Revenge replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly. End of argument. One Jauron is fired after this year (fingers-croseed) I will be SHOCKED if we ever see him as a head coach in this league again, for anyone. -
Not good. IMO, any prospect of Lynch not in the lineup is MUCH worse for this team than the same for Edwards. In light of how Edwards has played for most of the last 6 weeks, how much are we losing with Losman? Losing Lynch would be huge. Freddy is more of a change of pace back, and I think he benefits the most from Lynch wearing down defenses for him.
-
You're right with your logic, but that's not the point of what the topic was started about. 99% of the people around here can plainly see that TERRIBLE coaching and gameplanning is most responsible for the failures throughout this season. If you gave our roster to a competent head coach, I believe we are at minimum 8-4 right now. Jauron and the rest of the coaching staff that is calling mind boggling offensive plays more times than not, and developing a ridiculous defensive scheme just as often, are to blame. This team has talent, they just have incredibley insufficient coaches putting that talent together. To most intelligent Bills fans, this is clear. Of course it's not healthy to change coaches and "systems" every three years, but in this case it is painfully obvious that this is exactly what needs to be done.

I've watched a lot of Everett Brown this year and the kid is an absolute beast. Easily the biggest impact d-lineman I've seen in the college game this year so far. I've also heard that he has his head on straight which is usually a big plus for the Bills organization entering the draft. No matter where we finish, I would love to grab Brown. Trade up if need be, because he could be well worth it, especially at a position of need.

How do you criticize Labatt for making some observations about Kelsay just because he doesn't get his mail at OBD, then go right ahead and set it in stone that Kelsay will be back next year? He very well may not be if Brandon and Co. are seeing the same things we are from him this season. Seems pretty hypocritical to me....

James Hardy Analysis
Lt. Dan's Revenge replied to In space no one can hear's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Amen! Particularly with wideouts, who almost always take a couple of years to adjust to the NFL. And that goes for many of the good/great ones that have come in the league in the past. -
Starters who need to be replaced
Lt. Dan's Revenge replied to bananathumb's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with everything on this list besides right guard. Brad Butler has been REALLY good when he's been on the field this season IMO. Take last game for example, we couldn't run the ball worth a lick in the few weeks prior when he was out, and didn't give Trent all that much time either. He comes back Monday night, and we rush for close to 200 yards and Edwards isn't sacked once all night long. Coencidence? I think not. -
He has still one playoff games, even getting to an NFC Championship, and played pretty well overall. Until you can say more for any quarterback on our roster, there's not much of an argument. If you are only thinking about the dog ridiculousness all the time, then sure, Mike Vick as a PERSON does suck, Mike Vick as a PLAYER did not suck IMO.

Any suggestions on what time you should head out to OP from North Tonawanda if you want to make it to the main lots by 330? Traffic wise...

Quotes from Bills players and coaches lately
Lt. Dan's Revenge replied to Cugalabanza's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This absolutely made my morning! I think you forgot one though.... "I'm a really nice guy. I don't mind getting pancaked by a defensive end most of the time, it makes them happy. I don't want to be mean and sack the other team's quarterback.....That could hurt him." -Chris Kelsay, with the rest of our D-Line nodding in approval.
