  1. You cannot judge prospects solely on statistical numbers. That is ridiculous, and will not give you good results, plain and simple. If it worked that way, then Pettigrew shouldn't be anywhere near the first round, Jerry Hughes from TCU should be the first DE taken since he led the nation in sacks, Laurinites should be taken before Curry due to the numbers, etc, etc. Judging Ayers on his sack numbers alone is a copout.
  2. Robert Ayers is NOT Erik Flowers. Watch about 10 minutes of his tape from last season and you'll be able to easily determine that. I would provide a link, but seemed to have misplaced the one that San Jose Bills provided...
  3. I just don't think that Chambers has proven anything yet, and I think it would be foolish to assume that he can step in and play tackle full time in this league. Particularly in a division that where the other teams can really bring it off the edge. Maybe the Bills feel differently though, we'll find out. As far as Walker goes, he played very well last year, and was easily the most consistent offensive lineman we had - including Peters. Butler may have challenged him for that honor if not for the injury. Completely agree. If we don't get one of those guys, we're stuck with Schouman, Fine, and maybe a late round TE pick that is about their equivalent. The only player I might add to that list of acceptables is Travis Beckum from Wisconsin. Think he could be a good one.
  4. -Britton would be a huge upgrade over Chambers, Bell, or whoever else we could run out there to play at the other tackle spot from within the organization. Britton is going to be a very good RT in this league IMO, and I wouldn't call any of our other options even "decent". -I happen to prefer Unger to him personally, but if you don't think that Alex Mack would do a substantially better job stopping AFC East interior fronts than Melvin Fowler, you're out of your mind.
  5. Larry David, Meadow Soprano and Johnny 'Drama' Chase baby!!! Val Kilmer was great as the Sherpa though..."My probation officer is one of my best customers."
  6. Tell me how getting by all accounts a very good tackle at #28, and the guy who most consider the best center in the draft at #42 "sucks"? Tackle and Center are both needs, and they are addressed damn well in McShay's mock.
  7. Sign me up. Getting Mack at #42 would be huge. Then we could slide Hangartner to left guard. Walker-Hangartner-Mack-Butler-Britton sounds pretty good to me for our OL. Nate Davis would be a nice insurance policy just in case Trent has his injury problems again.
  8. I'm beginning to hope that he is right...
  9. I thought of Coffman and/or Evander Hood haha. I like it though, Stl! Especially the Parrish/Waters swap and late addition of AQ Shipley in the 5th...that's great value. I don't know if it's even on the radar, but that kind of deal is the only way I want to see Roscoe leaving town. Just say no to any draft pick offered for him that's in the 4th round or later!
  10. Really interesting read, Orangeman. Maybe picking in the top 10 with a need at offensive tackle isn't exactly the best position to be sitting in this year. Buyer beware.
  11. To me, that has to be a misunderstanding. Then again, would ANYTHING really surprise you at this point?
  12. Seriously. Since when was the Bills coaching staff banned from the Chophouse? Dave and Busters? Really?
  13. Agreed. He is the worst. Everytime I have the misfortune of catching him on ESPN 2 or something throughout the day, it makes me wonder why the network keeps sending him out there. You not only gain zero knowledge from this so-called "analyst", simply watching him debate sports topics is almost painful.
  14. The Lakers are the best team in the NBA, and they are going to prove that over the next few weeks. Ariza played like a monster yesterday!
  15. Can always count on you to add something relevant to the conversation, Crayonz. For those who do enjoy it, as well as those who don't, good day!
  16. Was looking forward to this, Tomcat. Thanks. Here's my best guess... Mark Sanchez - Jacksonville Michael Crabtree - Seattle BJ Raji - Cleveland Brandon Pettigrew - THE Buffalo Bills Brian Orakpo - Kansas City
  17. Right on. Walker was CONSISTENTLY better than Peters overall last year.
  18. It wasn't a knock on him, and maybe I phrased it wrong. I just really think there are going to be opportunities come next week to move back in the 1st round, add picks, and draft him a bit later. If in fact Pettigrew is their target.
  19. Good question. Personally, I'm pretty excited to see what the kid can do come training camp.
  20. I'm pretty sure I referenced a trade down, that would obviously include adding pick(s), in my original post.
  21. If you can add another draft pick, or even two, and still get the player that you are targeting why the hell wouldn't you? If Pettigrew is their guy and they think that they have to jump on him at #11 to get him, then by all means do it. However, it is smart management, especially considering the massive amount of needs this team has on both sides of the ball, to add picks and still get your guy if there is a team desperately looking to trade up. THAT is why the HELL it makes sense. When did I ever say that he wasn't a good player if he was picked at #11? Trading down and getting Pettigrew is simply a better scenario than staying at #11 and taking him if you are putting both things on the table. What is better - Pettigrew or Pettigrew plus a 3rd round pick that you get in a trade down? How does this not make sense to you?
  22. I agree. I really like Pettigrew, and would not be against drafting him at all, just not at 11. He is going to be available anywhere from 5-15 picks after that spot, and I think there is going to be some partners to trade down with this year. The possibilities of that will only increase if Sanchez falls out of the top 10.
  23. Bryan Scott is my guy. I think he is going to be very productive if we give him a full season at SS and let him play around the line of scrimmage. Whitner will be moving around a lot more at the free safety spot, in better position to make big plays, and I think Scott has the abilities to do a great job in a similar role to what the Bills have been doing with Donte for the past couple of seasons. He's VERY good in run support and that is going to show this season. Very underrated part of our team coming into '09 IMO.
  24. Excellent draft strategy. Spend a pick on a player that you see replacing another one in 5 or 6 years. Just stop.
