  1. What I am asking is why is it ignorant for people to have a certain opinion on gay marriage based largely upon their religious beliefs if that's what they believe in and have been brought up on since they were children?
  2. You're definetely right about that, and personally I cannot stand either of those guys. However, from my experience, what damj said is true much more often in the case of non-extremist liberals than conservatives.
  3. So it is ignorant for one to form a belief on a subject such as this due to religious values that have been instilled in them for years? Classic.
  4. Explain why exactly it is so ignorant to be opposed to gay marriage?
  5. Ah, I see what you are saying with that now, and I agree. I still just don't see why she should have to deal with being chastised, from both people involved in the stupid contest or not at all involved, for honestly giving her opinion about an issue that clearly has millions of others on both sides.
  6. Personally, I have seen quite a bit of Tebow the past three seasons, and have to disagree that his arm is as good as Trent's, who you used as an example. IMO, at least unless something changes which is of course possible, Tebow cannot make all of the throws that you need an NFL quarterback to make on a consistent basis. Even though he played a good game overall and they won the National Championship last year, some of the throws he made against OU were pretty damn ugly. I wish I could remember exact examples at the moment, but I definetely remember thinking that to myself at least a handful of times. Especially on the first pick he threw. If you can remember that play, that is Exhibit A on why he will not succeed as a quarterback in the NFL.
  7. I normally would feel the same way, but it seems like it has become much bigger than the pageant now.
  8. The straving children in Africa example is a terrible one. Although it is still an opinion to say "I don't care about kids in Africa, they are black, and don't deserve food", it is blatantly wrong to believe so. There aren't two sides to that scenario, or at least there shouldn't be. The gay marriage issue in America, however, clearly has many people across the country on both sides of the fence. Including in her own state, which voted down proposition 9 pretty convincingly just 6 months ago. The thing I have a problem with is that if she would have said given the opposite answer to that question, I'm going to go ahead and say there would have been very little problem publicly displayed from anyone. Hell, she may have even gotten a lot of praise for it. There is such a double standard in this country when it comes down to this issue, and it is really showing in this instance.
  9. Good point, that was another thing I meant to mention about it, thanks.
  10. From my understanding, and this is only because I have had some friends who have used it in order to pass drug tests, there are a number of different de-toxes readily available with different strengths and prices based on the extent and frequency of your marijuana habit. I'm guessing that essentially means the more you smoke, the stronger de-tox you'll need, and the more you should expect to pay for it.
  11. Ridiculous. Tim Tebow is a great college quarterback, but will not be half the NFL quarterback that Sam Bradford will be when both enter the league. That's assuming that Tebow even catches on at the quarterback position at the next level in the first place, which I still have major doubts about. Bradford has a substantially better arm, is EXTREMELY accurate throwing the ball, has good pocket presence, prototypical size, and seems to have a very, very good head on his shoulders. Barring something unforeseen happening this season, Sam Bradford has a very bright NFL career ahead of him IMO.
  12. Okay, I'm not quite sure how much this has been discussed on the board, and I first and foremost want to put it out there that I'm not looking for a huge gay marriage debate persay, more so just some insight. I'm sure many of you are aware of what has been going on since Miss California, Carrie Prejean, answered the oh-so-controversial question about whether or not she supports gay marriage in this country during the Miss America show a couple of days back. I would provide a link, but there are so many stories of different nature all over the web, from the reaction during the show, to the aftermath and rash of ridicule against Miss California in the days that have followed that I would have to put forth about 20 links to do the job. My question is: Since when was it so out of line to answer the gay marriage question, which is obviously opinionated-based, in an honest fashion? So what if she is personally opposed to two men or two women marrying one another? Isn't that HER opinion, and isn't she damn well entitled to it? Since she answered that question on national television as being opposed to it due to her strong Christian beliefs and upbringing, she has been absolutely chastised by people of many circles including the show's promoters, judges, celebrities (predictable), and much of the media. Whether you agree with her opinion on the topic or not, I think it's an absolute joke for her to be contiunally publicly ridiculed about answering a question that is based on OPINION, not FACT, honestly. Am I way off base on this?
  13. My only reaction this news is fear that I might have to take the plunge and finally change my name/avatar....
  14. If/when it happens, I wonder if it will be as easy to obtain the necessary credentials to gain access to the medical marijuana as it is in California....Anyone have any inclination?
  15. Very well said, Stl. I'm usually against downgrading prospects big time because of a positive marijuana test, but you're exactly right about there being no reason that they should test positive for it at the combine in the first place. It's incredible that these guys couldn't kick the habit for a while prior to the combine. Even if they chose not to do so, anyone who has a pending drug test at their job and likes to smoke pot knows that de-tox can easily be obtained, and if you get the right stuff, works perfectly. So it makes me wonder why guys like Harvin, who obviously couldn't pot down the pipe for a month, didn't do that to cover it up and not risk draft stock/money.
  16. Thanks for all the research and analysis, Bandit. To be honest, I like this draft for the Patriots* more so than for us, so I hope you're at least just a little off, but good work either way. I don't have much against the Ayers and Beatty picks.
  17. 1. The Bills select either James Laurinites or Ray Maualuga at #28. One of them will fall to them, and they just might jump on it. 2. Matthew Stafford goes #1 overall, and Sanchez #8 to Jacksonville. And finally the biggest surprise of all...... 3. Mort cannot stop praising the Bills day one of the draft, calling it the best in the AFC, and shockingly saying that it puts them in the drivers seat in the AFC East.... ....On second thought, we probably have a better chance of drafting Drew Willy at #11 than that happening....
  18. Big fish in a little pond? Huh? If playing in the ACC is suddenly a huge question mark, then Aaron Curry, Everette Brown, Eugene Monroe, Hakeem Nicks, etc should all be sliding down draft boards, right?
  19. Every player in the draft has their negatives. Other than a few minor character concerns, and possibly some issues with letting his weight get up there, I don't see many negatives at all on Raji. I struggle to find ANY glaring negatives if we're talking about his play on the field.
  20. The guy is probably about to light up in his car as we speak. It just so happens that it is the car he received for winning Super Bowl MVP.
  21. Amazingly, each and every first day defensive end prospect that people don't like in this draft reminds them of one of two guys: Kelsay or Flowers. It's like clockwork.
  22. Why exactly does Raji scream bust to you? And please don't tell me the it's about the weed questions...
  23. I think he can get it done in the pro's because it took him a little longer than expected to develop at Tennessee, but he really came on last season, and became an impact player during the latter half of the year. I think he is only going to get better entering the next level.
