  1. Thanks for the Kiper article. Mel's words make me and probably Jimmy pretty happy.
  2. Run a clean draft. They have done their research, ranked the players, let em pick according to their board. If some other team offers to trade up, fine, take it. Otherwise, make your picks...whoever is left that you prefer. Let the new regime build its team. No trade-ups. No-one is worth either the money or the picks it would cost. Somebody decent will fall to #9, 41 and so on. No panic on draft day, even if there is a run on OTs. Face it, this is another re-building year. you don't re-build by moving up. See Jimmy Johnson and the Cowboys when he took over.
  3. And the name is Bryan Bulaga. Each one has variations of who gets picked 1 thru 8, but none has a team picking Bulaga and when the #9 pick rolls around, they all pull the trigger on BB, which I guess I wouldn't mind. Certainly better than some long shot QB, waterbug RB or DE from Chan's college team. It would be interesting if things fell this way. Think I'd prefer Trent Williams or even Anthony Davis, but Bulaga would be a fairly "safe" investment. By the way, the writers are Clark Judge, Pete prisco, Chad reuter and Rob Rang
  4. Always wanted McClain if they can't get a top LT. No to the QB and WR in first round. I suspect Davis will be there at #9 and Bruce Campbell as well. Question is, is a position pick as good as a best player pick?
  5. Maybe now that TO is gone, he'll get in a word. More likely, he'll just let things ride out and hope he gets traded or released and catches on where he has a better chance. I mean, who would want to play behind Jimmy Clausen?
  6. Whatever kind of a mess they make of FA (and they will), I hope they don't sacrifice draft picks. The draft is about the only interesting time of year for Bills fans.
  7. If Davis drops into 2nd because of character issues, I might pick him, but it seems now that the only choice at #9 will be Trent Williams, because Okung and Bulaga will likely be gone. Better study on on Trent, Buddy. He is definitely a great athlete and versatile. Anybody watch him much this year? I only saw a couple games and he looked good. Of course, Anthony Davis looked even better, so it's sad to see these issues emerge over his dedication.
  8. I hope they draft nothing but linemen and linebackers. That's what they need, not some iffy kid QB, not some contact-louthing WR and not some straightline-fast CB.
  9. How about neither, unless you're Russ B trying to sell tickets and then you pick TBone.
  10. Agree totally with your comments about receivers. Thought they might have kept Denney as a 3-4 end. But he's getting old, i guess. Always liked his play when he was out there. Ralph will be happy; saved some money yesterday. More prunes today.
  11. Yeah, think the Bills are going to have to consider Williams along with Davis and Bulaga. He looks very athletic and his game tapes will also look good. Don't know why people think of him as a right tackle only, but even if that's how it turns out, we need a right tackle too. It will be interesting to see which one the Bills pick, assuming they go OT at #9 and assuming everyone except Okung is still there. I WAS thinking Davis, but now Williams might be the choice. Bulaga if you want to stay safe but with limited upside. Campbell if you want to gameble and maybe get a future star.
  12. Trent Williams is an impressive athlete too. Ran a 4.88 and is extremely agile for a big man. Looks like at least five top OTs.
  13. Talks like he wants to play the three-technique and not NT. Better in a 4-3 defense, which is disappointing, though he can probably play both.
  14. Saw one mock draft today (Fat White Guy.com) that had Denver taking Price at 11 and Dan Williams going at 12, so taking either at 9 wouldn't be that big a stretch. It's going to be a dilemma for the FO deciding between NT and OT unless they pick up a FA before the draft.
  15. We need one of the four OTs Mayock is talking about: Okung, Davis, Bulaga or Campbell. That means four other players have to be selected in the top 8. Suh and G. McCoy will definitely be gone, so we need two teams to select either Berry, Haden or McClain to ensure our OT is there. I really don't believe any team will spend a high pick on Bradford or Clausen, but I hope they do. As long as it's not Buffalo.
  16. Did you not see him sitting on the bench in the playoffs? He's d-d-dunnn.
  17. Thanks, stranger. Just about what I figured.
  18. UniversalDraft.com has us taking Willians at 9. Calls it "the first surprise pick of the draft", but says it outweighs the need for a LT because we have absolutely no-one who can play NT. I hope we stick with the LT because there is a better choice of good players at the position. Haven't heard that Dan Williams is anything great. Anyone watch him at Tennessee.? He certainly will be gone by our second pick and Cody wouldn't be worth the chance. Maybe another NT in the second, Cam Thomas of North Carolina, who had a good Senior Bowl.
  19. Freddie Barners is one of those "slow" wrs who just gets open and catches the ball. We need a new slot receiver.
  20. Exactly. He's built like Brady and has the same smarts and arm. He won't start much for a year or two, but in the 3rd, I'd take him and figure he has a bright future, but only if we fix our O-line and get some damn receivers who can do more than one route efficiently.
  21. Does anyone who actually knows anything about O-line talent know the difference in skills between Okung and Davis? Right now, they seem to be the best two and hopefully one will be there at 9. If not, Bulaga.
  22. This looks like a big FU to April and Levy and the silly Special Teams emphasis that has got the Bills nowhere. Think Scott Norwood. In the NFL today, teams like Indy and new Orleans and the Jets just go for it on 4th down half the time, sometimes don't even kick off (see the Super Bowl and Shawn Payton). We need players who can contribute depth to the offense or defense. I like Wendling as a gunner, but did he ever play safety? Keep the damn cuts coming, Buddy.
  23. Davis won't last until 18. Some drafts have him as high as five and many have the Bills taking him at 9. How could he drop to 18?
