  1. Danny Batten in the sixth over Pike? Didn't mind the draft until now. Maybe Daryl Clark in the 7th?
  2. Jason Cantafora of NFL Network just said talks are heating up over Jason Campbell and he thinks he'll be traded in fifth round to Buffalo or Oakland. Only minutes to before our pick. It may go to Washington insttead.
  3. No, I don't know much about the first three guys picked by Nix & Co, but everything is pointing in a different direction than the Donahoe, Levy, Brandon and Jauron era. A new defensive formation is being build with BIG boys up front to stop the run and we already have the DBs to stop the pass. Nix probably was behind the drafting of two stud interior linemen last year and the picking up of Meredith from GB to play RT. Bell is obviously his bet at LT. Meanwhile, Gailey comes in and says get me a scatback and Nix gets him the best in the draft. Spiller will be used in the passing game too, so our current QBs have a game-changer to go to if protection breaks down. Will be interesting to see what other "no-name" guys Nix selects today to go along with Troup and Carrington. All I know is, coaching and scouting are what the NFL is all about and maybe these southern boys know something people like Brandon don't. Buddy's approach won't sell tickets, but I'm still going to be watching.
  4. Gotta agree with the Eric Norwood guessers, though Bruce Campbell would be more exciting.
  5. Pike is a winner, same size and smarts as Brady. Other than Bradford, no QB drafted this year is gonna do much in 2010, but down the road, Pike might shine.
  6. That is what I see too. A lot of outside RACs from Spiller on 2nd or 3rd and longs. Edwards will be salivating over this pick. Who won the Super Bowl? New Orleans. And who does Spiller resemble most? Reggie Bush. Not saying Edwards resembles Drew Brees, but if that offense worked in NO, then why wouldn't it work here? Spiller is our second receiver, this year's TO, and hopefully a hell of a lot more productive.
  7. Agree and hope they don't take a QB in Rd 2 because there isn't one worth the pick. Safford, Brown or Campbell might actually be able to play left tackle.
  8. Not just the best , the ONLY draft coverage by a Buffalo radio station. WGR is hockey-addled.
  9. If they take Clausen, every numbnut on both sides of the border will buy season tickets and THAT is exactly what I'm afraid of. Smithers knows this and Ralph knows this, so what chance do Buddy and Chan have, even if they think Clausen will fail?
  10. Even if I hear "the Buffalo Bills select, from Notre Dame, Jim..." I don't think I'll do that. Turn channels, yes, but not a full beer.
  11. Now, that's funny. Talk about a diamond in the rough!
  12. Be assured, Smithers will get his man. If they don't draft some "name" rookie QB, they'll trade for Jason Campbell and all will be right in Buffalo Ticketville. As too many people say, "it's all about the quarterback".
  13. Dukes has played the position in the league, so I think that would make him a better judge of OT talent than, say, ALL of us. I haven't seen Okung play, but have watched Davis and he is ridiculously talented, so I don't argue with Dukes' ranking of the five. Certainly wouldn't mind it if we selected him at #9.
  14. Article's like Graham's can jump up and bite the author in the ass months down the road. Not saying this one will, just hoping it does.
  15. Baldy of the NFL Network put out his top ten mock draft yesterday. Clausen slides out of that group. Casserly, also of NFL Net, has him going at #30. That's about right, I think. Baldy blames it on his inability to make the big play when it counts and his lack of leadership skills. Hope the Bills are tuned in.
  16. Who knows, but here goes: 1. Jimmy Claussen 2. Vlad Ducasse 3. Cam Thomas
  17. Thanks. That is a good read, the best avaialble summary of what the Bills have in the way of talent and what questions they'll have to solve in the draft or via trades. The most interesting situation facing them is deciding where to go at #9 if the top OTs are gone and a trade-d-wn isn't available. They'll have to have a strategy for this likelihood, assuming of course that Clausen isn't where they're going. My guess is, Dan Williams.
  18. Why would I pay attention to anything that WGR hockey boy has to say?
  19. Out of the eight players picked before the Bills, four or five of them will be OTs. Those dumb GMs, why don't know as much as you?
  20. I would wait until the 4th round, hoping for Tony Pike. He is going to be a steal if he's there in 4th. If he isn't, then I'd draft one of Skelton from Fordham or the Penn State guy, Ward? Both are projects but have a lot of upside. I don't think Pike can miss, but we need other talent in rounds 1-3 and I'm not wasting those picks on a questionable QB like Tebow or Clausen or Levebour. I'd be excited to watch Pike develop. He's got everything except the NFL body, but that hasn't hurt Tom Brady, has it?
