  1. Give Chan the horses and he'll out-Bill Belichick and out-Rex Ryan both in game prep and game adjustment. But where do we get the horses for him? In the draft, which takes forever and then you just lose the good ones down the road. Too bad Chan is stuck with a cheap organization.
  2. Good topic. We need a Bruce Smith ie a dominating DE Then we need a Biscuit ie a wild man at OLB A real SS would be nice too a la Leonard Smith, but that's down the line. On offense, we need a QB who is as tough as Kelly was, but smarter, which isn't hard and we need some tackles, though maybe Bell will work out...definitely need a RT in the draft A good TE wouldn't hurt. Believe it or not, I think the other parts, including coaching, are good enough. So, where do we get Bruce and Cornelius? Then maybe Luck next year.
  3. Right now, I would trade down in a heartbeat. Nobody at 3 I want, assuming fairley is gone. Seems to me it is a starless draft, unless you consider wide receivers stars. Problem is, all the other teams know this and no-one would trade up and give you much. We're pretty well stuck with overpaying for some guy who in normal years would be a late first-rounder. Getting somebody to trade up to #3 is a pipedream.
  4. Yep, and that is why we might as well gamble and pick a QB. Or ideally. trade down before we take one of those fat bums (DLs named Bowers or Quinn or Dareus). What a year to finish with the 3rd pick.
  5. That's where he should be. Doesn't have the right body to be either a DT or DE, in IMHO.
  6. I wouldn't want many of those players you listed, maybe one of the QBs, if only because the position is so important and I wouldn't mind gambling when the rest of these chumps are so bloody uninspiring. That's the problem this year; we finally got a top pick and outside of Fairley (who will go first), they are all mid-round picks as far as I'm concerned. Might as well have won a few more games!
  7. Mr. Smith in Atlanta hasn't been around too long, but he has a fantastic record. he's something like 44-4 at home, for example, and 44-2 with matt ryan starting. You can say that it's Matty ice who makes him a good coach, but you could say that about Belicick and most NFL coaches. I'd also consider Pittsburgh's head coach, Mike Tomlin, in this category. But you're right, BB is in a class by himself. Interesting thing is, I believe if you sat Belichick down and asked him about competing against Gailey, he'd honestly tell you Chan is one of the better NFL minds.
  8. Don't know who Greg Brady is, but it was nice to hear a "local" media type who knows a little bit about football. That said, Nix's comment about "not drafting for position" was pretty important. It DOES mean that AJ Green or one of the CBs is in the mix if they are the best guy on the board when the third pick comes up. I'm not overly concerned about that, because other than Fairley, the DTs everyone is slobbering about haven't impressed in their big games. Then again, neither has Peterson. Pick the best player, Buddy boy.
  9. Maybin looks like James Harrison next to Von Miller. He may be a decent free safety ... fifth round.
  10. He is a huge question mark. Tonight will help answer the question, but not fully. QBs are just too difficult to project coming of of college. I think it will go right down to the day of the draft. He will likely go anywhere from 1 to 5, so we are right in the middle of Cam Newton talk. Caroline might grab him or he might be ours if we want him. It is also a huge game for Fairly; the other two big boys on D - Bowers and Dareus - did not look like top 3 picks in their bowl games, so Fairly needs to show he's a sure thing. Otherwise, we might as well take a shot at Cam ... if he's there.
  11. As Mayock says, best run ever made in an NFL playoff game. Most good athletes need a big stage. Marshawn is the happiest player in the league right now.
  12. Feel exactly the same. I don't like drafting question marks like Newton and mallett, but I don't see any #3 value in these D-lineman at all. From watching their recent games, Fairly looks like the best of them, but he'll probably be gone. Wish there was a Clay Matthews-type LB in this year's draft.
  13. Wow, would I be pissed if I was a Carolina fan. Just a possibility but Luck has until Jan 15 to change his mind. Let's say Harbaugh went to Carolina or even Denver ... I admire Luck for being able to resist the temptation and pursue his educational goal.
  14. Yeah, someone on here the other day said they wanted Demarcus Love over carimi. Carimi just dominated while Demarcus looked more like Courtney Love. Avoid that guy. As for mallett, I wouldn't be upset if they got him with their 2nd pick. He's no Andrew Luck, but who is? Bills blew that chance at history.
  15. Hey whitner, good luck conning another team. Try it on Belichick.
  16. I would do that, but Luck would never come to Buffalo.
  17. I'm thinking the same thing. Ralph wants a QB, we NEED a QB, none of the DLs are great (I mean Suh-great). So long as newton or Mallett impress in their bowl games and at the combine, we will get one of them and the Ralph will be full next season or whenever football is played again. Bet on it. You don't gamble on a questionable defensive lineman with the third pick, but you DO take a questionable QB. Check your NFL history.
  18. Did you see Whitner standing in the end zone letting Clemens walk in for a TD? Got his buggy loaded up.
  19. Won't see anything if Jets don't play Cromartie and Revis.
  20. Looks like about 6'1, 300 to me and that is NOT prototypical 3-4 end size. You call his talent freakish, but I watched him against an average OL and he didn't really do much. If he hits you, you are hit, but there was no playmaking from darius in that bowl game. Anyway, we already have Williams, Stroud, Edwards, Carrington, Troup, Johnson etc. What we dont have is a great LB, QB or OT. I just don't get the fascination with more fat down linemen with the first pick.
  21. Don't know about the two so-called 3-4 DEs - Dareus and Bowers. The latter did almost nothing in his bowl game and Dareus doesn't seem to fit the position, too short and sluggish. He is definitely built like Kyle Williams, but is this what you want? Fairley looks more the part to me, but he may be gone when the Bills pick 9th after their great vitory over the toothless Jets. Maybe Carimi is the best pick.
  22. Walton was very impressive. First time I've seen him, but out of the 46 teams that have seen him, he's beaten 44 of them. Sounds like a winner to me.
  23. Done nothing special in the second half. What's the big deal? The little I've seen of Fairley, at least he stood out. If these guys are the best Dlinemen available, I'd pick Newton or mallett. Maybe Bowers will come up with somthing in the second half...
