  1. Yeah but does he mean the old Shawn Merriman or the OLD Shawn Merriman?
  2. Look, by viable alternative, I mean a QB who is capable of replacing a mediocre starter who - by the very fact that he is being replaced - is underperforming even by his modest standards. THAT is what Ryan Fitzpatrick has to be concerned about. Vince Young simply couldn't be much worse than an underperforming Fitzpatrick. So if Fitz buckles even the slightest, whether the team is doing poorly or doing well, there will be a big temptation to try VY. If you were Fitzpatrick, you would be feeling more than normal NFL pressure to perform, actually to improve.
  3. The NFL.Com writer knows a story when he sees it. He sees a team that has more things going for it than at any time since the 1980s, yet is somewhat "stuck" with a mediocre QB. All he is saying is that situation cannot sustain itself IF there is a viable alternative. Well, guess what? There is, and he is the new back-up QB, Vince Young. Fitzpatrick is under enormous pressure to improve. (not that he's worried, with that $15 million already in his bank account.)
  4. I'd like to see the details of this extension, because if it is true that the money for Ralph is smaller and therefore the ticket prices go down, maybe a late game inside a dome on a pissy day at a reasonable price won't seem all that bad to those attending. Everything depends on those ticket prices.
  5. All depends on Fitzpatrick (or whoever replaces him if he sucks). If he or his sub is average, they should win 9 or 10. But that's a huge IF.
  6. Leo Roth knows little about football.
  7. Thank go, we have someone who can take over when Ryan fails
  8. Great move, Buddy. Young at least has talent and we all know what happened to Ryan last year after so much pormise. Maybe this year, if he craps the bed in the second half again, we'll keep winning with a true backup QB. This is more like a real NFL team now.
  9. Joe, your two threads prove your point nicely. ie the Bills might be improving but still do have the qb to go far.
  10. To the OP: you know your Bills and I agree with your premise that the positions are pretty much loaded, except for QB. Hopefully they bring in Young or someone of equal potential. Right now, that backup QB position is empty and that is our Achilles heel. Anyway, good job.
  11. Should have moved up for him instead of Graham (maybe he tried and Giants wouldn't take what he offered). Wish we had Randle. Bet Eli is happy.
  12. 7th round pick out of Harvard. Plays like it. What do you expect?
  13. Until we finally make the playoffs again, it will always be QB.
  14. Huge, super smart, saved a guy's life already...how can you not like him? Backup center for a few years, I hope.
  15. but I think we're pregnant! Best draft since the old days of Bruce, Cornelius, Reed etc. Or at least that's my feeling. (Could be totally wrong and it might turn into an abortion...)
  16. Bills regional scout who watched LSU games described him "like a jaquar" when he closed on receivers or ball carriers. This team is being built for SPEEEEED! (like Jimmy's Cowboys once were).
  17. 3 out of 4 ain't bad. Like this LB pick and really like the looks of Gilmore. Could be special. We need a young QB, but maybe there aren't any this year. Wouldn't mind McNutt WR and Carder LB now.
  18. Pitiful. Coulda had Reuben Randle by getting off their asses a little sooner. Instead, they "move" up to get a 7th rounder. Boggles the mind.
