Getting really tired of this Pats* cheater stuff.

Young's SB winning season was when Policy "forgot" about Deion's salary Amd, let's not forget about Denver's cap shenanigans for Elway's SB's. -

And, Carmen Policy's Niners admitted cheating the cap all those dynasty years. And, as for Dallas' dynasty ...... Jimmy Johnson admitted he's been doing what Belichick did way back to his Chiefs days. If I dug far enough I'm sure I could come up with something on the Packers. But, maybe I'll leave well enough alone and at least leave 1 legit NFL dynasty to hail. -

Sure, it was such an advantage that, without the taping benefit, the Pats went undefeated in the regular season the year after they stopped -

What do you expect when the guy dishing out the penalty is an ex Jets employee I'm sure Kraft isn't losing sleep over the penalty though. -

The only thing the Pats were guilty of as a result of video incident was that they hired a HC (Belichick) who is smarter than the legal team who penned the wording of the NFL operations manual that covers the issue of videotaping. In his statement after the ruckus, Belichick stated that his interpretation of the videotaping rule is that videotape footage could be collected, in the manner the Pats did so, provided said taping doesn't advantage the team doing the collecting "DURING" the playing of the game, something the Pats weren't doing. At the time Belichick issued his statement explaining his interpretation, the league's constitution and by-laws on this matter was printed in the media and clearly showed that Belichick's interpretation was correct and that rules/by-laws were poorly written and clearly open to mis-interpretation. Not that it matters really since the taping of opponents signals, and lord knows what else, has been taking place since video technology was invented and coaching staff's figured out how to use it. In retrospect, Belichick should have gotten a better zoom lens and did the taping from across the sidelines or up in the stands with all the other teams advanced scouting crews with recorders in hand. -
Shhh, only the Patriots* cheat ..................

Denver aquires RB Lawrence Maroney from NE

And I agree. But, you are missing the point, yet again! It's not about praising the piss poor draft pick; it's about getting something in return for said piss poor draft pick, that is 4th on the depth chart and who is not under contract after the season is up. Such players are cut/waived not traded for 4th round draft picks. -

They are not being praised for the drafting of the bust that is Maroney. They are being praised for being able to get a draft pick return for said bust when that bust is 4th on their depth chart, primed for getting cut and in the final year of his contract. Such players typically don't return anything on their investment. That the Pats got anything for him is impressive. A 4th (less the 6th) is downright stealing. -

Male media personnel are allowed access into womens changerooms. But really, what female sports teams draw much interest? Certainly not to the degree that male sports leagues do. -

Most GM's wouldn't be able to consummate a trade for a guy who is 4th on the depth chart, in his 5th year and without a contract. Such players get cut not traded for! As a reminder ..... the Pats acquired Randy Moss for a 4th round, insignificant, draft pick -

The Pats traded Maroney and a 6th for a 4th. That's moving up alot more than a couple spots. he was 4th on the depth chart and is an unrestricted FA after the season. That they got anything for this bust, under these circumstances, is the point! -

Again, you are missing the point. Maroney was a bust for the Pats yet they got a 4th (and 4 years of service) for him. Your example with Willis is apples and oranges .... Willis was a 1k yard avg RB -

You are missing the point. The Pats got 4 years service out of Maroney but, realizing they have no more need for him, the Pats are cutting ties with him and getting value for him prior to losing him to free agency, and without any gain, after the season. And having extra picks is of value. Said pick can be used to trade-up for a guy that you want. Pats just did this exact thing this past April when they used one of their extra 6th rounders to leapfrog the Ravens for Gronkowski. -

Or how about this scenario. Pats trade that 2011 4th for a 2012 3rd, then a 2013 2nd, then a 2014 1st and grab their future QB then. -

True, but things appear to have changed for the Pats since Pioli left. They have seemingly aced their last 2 drafts sans Pioli. -

Not only 4th on the depth chart but an unrestricted free agent after the season who was going to walk for nothing. The Pats now have extra picks in the 1st (Raiders), 2nd (Panthers) and 4th (Denver) in next years draft --- to go along with their own regular picks. It's likely that the Raiders, Panthers and Broncos picks will all be early in their respective draft slots, giving the Pats tons of draft pick ammunition yet again. After acing their last two drafts, the Pats may well be in position to have re-loaded up during the time they are still SB favourites. When has that ever happened before? -
Edwards does better than Sanchez...
Pneumonic replied to Decimus Cometh's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sanchez did direct the Jets to 3 scoring drives. One drive was even longer than 18 feet. The guy's a dud, just like Edwards. -
Two thoughts on the game
Pneumonic replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Edwards lack the "it" needed to be a NFL QB. He simply doesn't get it and can't see the game at a level good enough to respond accordingly. Basically he sucks as a NFL QB! -
Do what it takes!? The Bills don't have enough top level players to offer SD in exchange for McNeil and need all of the draft picks they have coming to re-stock this team with talent they sorely lack. Besides, McNeil would probably suck if he came to Buffalo.

Losing the Warren of the last 2 years isn't a huge blow frankly for he's been barely adequate. He is a proven vet however who needs to be replaced. Hopefully his namesake, Gerrard, can fill his void. Mayo will be a very interesting player to watch this year as he not only returns 100% healthy from injury that hobbled him last year but he also returns back to the position he was DROY at, WILB, assuming Spikes plays SILB which looks to be the case. It remains to be seen how Connolly fairs in place of Mankins should the later continue holding out. Kaczur's RT spot is being handled by Vollmer who is a far superior player. By all accounts, Welker is back, cutting, and reversing direction as usual. The rookie TE's are indeed ? but thus far they have been stellar in their performance.
-
Edelman was a good player last year for the Pats, his first ever season as a WR, and, by all camp accounts, he's improved by leaps and bounds and is expected to be much improved compared to last year. Edleman looks to be very quick, elusive, and an extremely difficult guy to tackle in the open field, much like Wes Welker. No doubt that Moss and Welker are the top two WR's for the Pats but I would imagine the Pats will look to get both Welker and Edelman on the field together as much as possible where they could be a nightmarish duo for defenses to have to contend with. Secondaries better be great tacklers or else they'll get eaten up with huge RAC totals with these two guys running around. And, should this Hernandez kid and Gronkowski be all they appear to be in camp at the TE spot, the Pats offense will be scary good.

Revis just wants to be paid as the best player in the NFL that his nimrod HC said he was. The problem the Jets have with this is they employed a "go for it all this year" approach by trading away draft picks, signing high priced outside free agents whiling disregarding their own soon to be free agents, leaving them on precariously thin ice as they will look to try and field some semblance of a future team after this season plays out.

To repeat .... I never said every player cheats by taking drugs. I said that every team employs (knowingly or unknowingly) at least a single player who takes drugs. Thus they are cheaters by extension. The Pats got caught breaking a rule that prohibits videotaping of an opponents sideline at too close a distance. They now steal opponents signals like all the other teams do ..... at a distance that is deemed suitable to the league office.
