What is the average age of the posters on TBD?
Pneumonic replied to Dragonborn10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm soon to be 50. Have lived in the Toronto area for 30 of those years. I split my fandom between the Bills and the Pats. Grew up in the east coast of Canada where there is a big Pats following. I have been following the Bills for most of the 30 years spent in Toronto so I'm probably the only dual Bills/Pats fan around. In case anyone is wondering. I am also bipolar in my hockey fandem as well. I grew up a Habs fan but I am a season tix holder for the Leafs. -
Equipment Manager fired after 35 years?
Pneumonic replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Now this ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ is very high quality stuff. Thanks -
Quick question. Money issue aside. Who would you rather have, Mario or former Orangeman, Chandler Jones?
-
Mario, Anderson, and Fitz should be arrested.

In retrospect, imagine if they had given Mario's $100m to P Manning and then drafted Chandler Jones instead ............... -
Rodney Harrison: Mario Will Never Win In Buffalo
Pneumonic replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He's very likely right in his criticism. Doesn't make it any easier for Bills fans to accept however. So, they'll be critical of him for saying it. -
100 million dollar mistake?
Pneumonic replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not that I feel sorry for the guy but, Mario is going to have to perform to one heck of an impressive level for many years to earn that $100M paycheck in the eyes of most. -
WEEK #1 - Bills @ Jets Game Day Thread
Pneumonic replied to boyst's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This team aint winning squat with this dud @ QB. -
The Bills model their defense after the Giants in so much as they want to have a dominating pass rush out of their front 4. Then again, so does every defense in the league. Where the Giants defense differs greatly from that of the Bills (and other teams) is how they generate said front 4 pass rush much of the time. For the Giants, at critical times, they employ 4 DE's along the front 4 (ie NASCAR package) and cause matchup issues (confusion) because the OL doesn't know who is going to lineup where. This is what troubled the Pats so much in those SB games. The Bills, OTOH, don't have 4 DE's to lineup along the front 4 like the Giants have. What the Bills will rely on is your traditional 2-DT inside, 2-DE outside sets and will look to straight win their battle opposite the OL versus causing confusion in the blocking schemes like the NASCAR provides.

Who is the Jets best player?
Pneumonic replied to Captain Hindsight's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Revis at CB and Mangold at OC may be the best players in the game at their respective positions. -
Not sure what your point is here! Are you saying that a QB has to be the bruiser type and end up bloodied and hobbled in order to be considered great? Brady has led the Pats to countless comeback wins while under the most extreme pressure .... the pressure of the big game. Now, granted, he might not have came out of the games bludgeoned in the process, but who the heck cares?
-
Choosing a best of QB is like deciding which is the best between a Bentley, a Lambo, a McLaren, a Bugatti and a Ferrari. Someone will find fault with one of them, and drop them down a notch or two, but in the end they all are deserving.
-
None of Moss, Welker, Gronk or Hernandez were around to help Brady win his 3 SB titles. Check the list of players Brady had at his disposal back then. And Montana was in the ideal situation too, right
-
Not sure how anyone could objectively argue that Brady has had better supporting staff of players than has Manning. Check out Brady's receivers over the years. And TE's. Even his OL has been in flux for much of his career. Not only that but Manning has had the same co-ordinator for almost all of his tenure while Brady's OC's change like underwear.

Opening Season Rituals. Got Any?
Pneumonic replied to RevWarRifleman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
All of my opening season rituals start with copious amounts of Jack and 7. What happens thereafter ....... who knows. -
The argument that tosses your point out is simple ...... the QB that replaced Brady (Cassell) was much better than the dud QB's (Painter/Orlovski) who replaced Manning. No doubt that BB has been instrumental in Brady's success. But, in the case of Brady versus Manning. Let's not forget that the major advantage that Manning has had over Brady for much of his career, is consistency at two very key components; namely wideout and TE as well as having the same OC (Moore). Brady has had little to no consistency in these key areas. A strong argument could be made that if Brady had the consistency at these spots that Manning had then Brady would have posted even better passing totals.

I agree that bestowing Brady the honour of GOAT at this stage of the game is premature. With or without the SB wins, tainted or not as they may be due to spygate. However, by the time Brady hangs em up, he'll very likely end up posting #'s, all the way around, which are going to make it pretty much a no brainer, for anyone objective, to crown him as champ.
-
I guess that depends on how much value you believe the whole spygate affair had on the outcome of games. For most, outside of this place, it's rarely a concern. Kinda like the blip on Elways career for being part of a team that cheated the salary cap enroute to winning their super bowls.
-
Would it be though? Presuming that Brady does play until he's 40 and ends up with most of the games passing records and adds at least another SB win to his collection, he'll be in rarefied company atop the list at the position.
-
As mentioned previously, if the criteria for determining Brady's greatness is of the present, then I can certainly see why people would say no to the question of him being the GOAT. However, the guy wants to play until he's 40, another 5 or so years. He's in his prime and playing at an unbelievably high level right now. And he has an organization that will ensure that he has the proper weapons to continue performing at a high level. Further, it's highly probable that he'll be playing on a team that is likely going to be favoured to win the SB, every year, the rest of his playing days. As such, it's conceivable that Brady could have most of the game's passing and winning records, including regular and post season, by the time he hangs them up. In such a case, it may well be that this conversation is moot as it'll be obvious, to anyone who is objective, that Brady is the GOAT QB.
-
Ben may be a dick but he's a top QB who I believe is too stupid to know that getting hit hurts. I suppose that's an admirable trait for a QB to have.
-
I think it's premature to select Brady as GOAT while he's still playing. I do, however, believe that should he continue to put up stats as he's currently doing he's certainly going to be in the discussion when all is said and done. And, should he win another SB, he's probably going to end up atop the heap. Not sure I share your belief that Brady should personally be discredited for the whole spygate thingy. For starters because I don't believe it was that big a deal and secondly because Brady's never performed better as a QB since the spygate fiasco. If one determines a QB's greatness by how well he handles being rattled then Big Ben is the greatest of all time.
-
What has changed is the Pats have re-built their entire team since the last SB win and have done so while not missing a beat. It's amazing how they have transformed this team entirely, while still dominating in the AFC, and are today a strong SB favourite for the upcoming season after coming off a SB appearance last year. The only constant in all of this has been Brady and Belichick.
-
Indeed, now that they can't cheat we are seeing them for what they truly are; a team that cannot win if their life depended on it and a QB who is now a dud of a player
