QB Lynch very high priority for Bills/Jets!!
Maddog69 replied to ChanOverChin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know anything at all about Lynch and his quality as a prospect. Having said, that I'd be a little disappointed if we took him at 19. And I would be extremely disappointed if we traded up to get him. As many others have said, we have immediate needs at other positions and we should be striving to make the playoff this year and to confirm whether or not Tyrod is the long terms answer. -
This makes me so happy

Don't think I can argue any of these picks.
-
LOL. And what's up with the goofy Three Musketeers beard?
-
I don't think it can be an either/or question. You need to do both to be successful.

McCoy's nightclub fight and the ongoing investigation
Maddog69 replied to lowghen's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's what I am thinking as well. I don't see Goodell stepping out on a limb here and exposing himself to more criticism and another NFLPA challenge to one of his decisions. He has not faired well against those challenges and I seriously doubt he will put himself in position for another smack down over something like this where the DA did his damndest to find a way to charge McCoy with something and was unable to based on the facts. I'll be shocked of Roger decides that he sees something the DA didn't. -
I think it is a reference to the Pro Bowl he just played in (Feb 2016) not a prediction for making it next season. You realize that he hired someone to create and manage this site, right? You don't think he's sitting at a computer with a bag of Dorito's creating this stuff? He's out throwing passes to Charles Clay.

Looks like Donte Whitner cut by Browns
Maddog69 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I never liked Whitner. Hated that we drafted him and passed on Ngata. Never thought he was a very good player. Terrible in coverage. My most vivid memories of him as a Bill are watching opposing TE's catching TD's while Donte is about 6 feet away, and watching the little punk throw a shoulder into guys who were on the ground after someone else made the tackle. Whitner is arrogant and childish. I'm still waiting to see his proof that he was an innocent victim in the Cleveland taser incident. I wish him health and success wherever he goes, but I hope he never plays for the Bills again. He is one guy I just can not root for. -
LB Bruce Carter Visting Bills; Signing with the NYJ

Did they take him to Tempo? -
WGR on EJ - will he stay on the roster as backup QB?
Maddog69 replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is easy to say. But I'd look to hear who you want them to sign who will definitely be better? And with what money? -
WGR on EJ - will he stay on the roster as backup QB?
Maddog69 replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly. No reason to cut him. Bring in another young QB to develop/compete. But I see no reason to think EJ won't be on the roster on Opening day. -
I have a few thoughts here. 1.) Just because Houston signed Osweiler to a stupid deal, doesn't mean the Bills should be in a rush to do the same. 2.) Osweiler was a UFA. The Broncos couldn't tag him because they needed to tag Miller. Osweiler has the leverage. Taylor has none. 1.) Stats don't tell the whole story 2.) Show me a stat from this past season where Osweiler was better than Tyrod, because I can't find one. Seriously.

Personally, I don't feel that he answered all of the questions. He performed well statistically. But he showed that he is either unwilling or incapable of reading the middle of the field and delivering the ball consistently. He showed that he is not capable of consistently converting on 3rd downs and extending drives. He hasn't yet proven durability and being able to stay healthy for a full season. If I am Terry Pegula and being asked to commit $20m per year and probably $50m or more in guaranteed money, I think I would want to see more before signing the check. And if I see a QB and an agent who are already starting crap in the press, I'd be even more hesitant to put pen to paper. show me you want to be here, show me you want to be here. Show me you want to be the face of my franchise and that you'll put in the work and be a leader, then we will talk about a new contract.

I would choose the option not listed. Let Taylor play out this year of his contract and see how it goes to see if he takes another step forward and secures himself as a legit #1 QB in the NFL. If he does, then I would sign him long term (or tag him). We actually control him for 3 years. We can let him play out this year and tag him twice. The total over that 3 years would be somewhere around $50m (or just under $17m per year). That works for my. I have little doubt we could get him signed long term before the end of year three if he plays well and earns it. The Bills are in the driver's seat here, not sure why people don't get that.

Poll: New Bills Stadium: Drop Top Dome or Open Stadium?
Maddog69 replied to Marty McFly's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I never suggested a retractable dome. I suggested that it will be a closed stadium like in Indy. Theirs is not retractable. -
Poll: New Bills Stadium: Drop Top Dome or Open Stadium?
Maddog69 replied to Marty McFly's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Are you serious? When he bought the team,Terry Pegula said there would be a new stadium at some point. It doesn't really take a genious to see that a new stadium is needed in the not too distant future. I believe a new stadium will be built (or in process) before the end of the current lease. I believe it will be built downtown and I believe will be a covered facility similar to the stadium in Indy. -
1 million percent agree with this. Your posts are one of the things I most look forward to coming here and reading after the games. I don't agree with the second part of this. I don't expect the Bills to "crash and burn". I think they will again be middle of the pack. I expect them to play better defense and I expect the Offense to be the same or better. The issue I see is their schedule. I think they could play much better and still have a worse record. As far as the contracts, I don't think they are handicapped at all. They are tight this year but will have a ton of room next year. They are tight because they've kept their good players. Kyle, Eric Wood, Hughes, Marcel, Cordy, Aaron Williams, Incognito, Gilmore. The only "bad" contracts I think are Aaron Williams being a bit overpaid (especially if he can't get and stay healthy) and McCoy. McCoy is a good player, but I think you can get his production from other, cheaper backs.

I think this b.s. from the agent will push the Bills a little more to draft a QB or find another option in free agency so Taylor can't hold them hostage. I would make it known to Taylor and his agent that the starting job is not going to be handed to him especially if this kind of crap continues. If he decides to hold out, he goes to the bench. See how many teams will line up to pay him next offseason after not seeing the field. He had a decent first year, but showed lots of areas in need of improvement and did not demonstrate that he can stay on the field. I certainly would not be running to the negotiating table to sign him long term at this point. At this point in the offseason, it seems that people forget the lack of production when it mattered and the ridiculous number of 3 and outs and missed opportunities. If the agent wants to play hard ball, I'm all for the Bills playing too.

Touchbacks now go to 25 yard line
Maddog69 replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly. Kickoffs are fun to watch. But, if the idea if to encourage more touchbacks, I think it will backfire. Team will be more likely to kick short and try to encourage runbacks so they can pin them inside the 20. -
Technically, yes. He plays this year under his current deal. Next year under the standard Franchise tag and then the following year under the 125% increase over the previous year franchise tag. So, let say next years tag is $22m (probably won't be that his since it is 19.95 this year). But anyway. We would have TT for a Max of $4m this year if he hits all incentives. Then 22m next year. The second year franchise tag would be $27.5 mil. (I doubt the Bills would tag him again). But if they did, the total would be $53.5m for 3 years or $17.85m per year. If he plays well, he'd be worth it. And I see no reason to think that a long term deal wouldn't be worked out at somepoint in those 3 years if all parties are happy.

I have to be honest. The comments from this agent pissed me off. That "31 other teams" comment especially. Where were those 31 other teams last year. The Bills brought him in and gave him a chance. They built the offense around his strengths and covered his weaknesses. They allowed him to show off his skills and his agent runs his mouth. Sure, Taylor had a good showing when he was healthy. But there are certainly weaknesses in his game and question marks left. Not to mention the fact that the Bills have no cap space to sign him. How about being a good teammate and a leader. Putting out the perception that you'd be happy to go somewhere else if not the best way to get skeptical fans and coaches behind you. Making threats and negotiating in the media, especially when negotiating from a point of weakness right now is not smart. I personally would like to see Taylor issue a statement saying that his agent overstepped with his comments and that Buffalo is the only place he wants to be (even if is not 100% true). Maybe I'm just being overly sensitive, but this really rubbed me the wrong way. That said, my gut feeling is that Gilmore gets signed to an extension fairly soon. Tyrod get's signed to an extension in Oct/Nov and Glenn walks in Free agency at the end of the year once the Franchise tag runs out.

Would you trade for Clady and start him at RT?

If he were to be released and would sign a 1yr $1m deal. Then yes. -
Wondering why we are not looking at NT's
Maddog69 replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills have zero cap space available at this point. Unless they can extend Gilmore or Glenn, they won't be signing anybody of consequence and all additions will need to come through the draft.
