  1. By the end of the lease, our stadium is 50 years old. To think it does not need to be replaced or completely gutted and re-built (similar to what they did in GB), is simply ignoring common sense. The question is not if, it is when. They will have a new stadium within 10 years. The only thing left to debate (and its probably already decided by the Pegulas) is where. If they build it in OP, not much additional infrastructure needs to change. If they build it downtown, they will need probably about a Billion dollars in infrastructure updates first. On the plus side, this whole thing will create a ton of construction jobs in WNY
  2. I am very confident that the Bills will get a long term extension done with Gilmore before the season starts. I'm not the least bit concerned about it. Gilmore is a very good player and will be paid as such. My guess is that he gets a deal just shy of what Norman got on a Per year basis but he might get an extra year. I'm thinking 6yrs at a little more than $14m per year.
  3. I think the upcoming season will go a long way to solidifying Tyrod's ranking amongst the other QBs in the league. Personally, I'm not sure it is really possible to rank them exactly in order. I see them more in groups or tiers. There are a few elite QBs (Brady, Rodgers) There are some really good ones who are aging (Brees, Eli, Roethlisberger, Romo, Palmer) Then the guys who have been pretty good for a while (Dalton, Stafford, Ryan, Flacco, Cutler, Alex Smith). After that are the unproven (Carr, Bridgewater, Taylor, Mariota, Bortles) And then you have the rookies, followed by the guys who kind of suck (Bradford, Kaep, Gabbert, etc) So, in my opinion, Taylor is currently in a group of QB's that ranks just outside the top 12. Depending on how this season goes, he could climb into the top 10, stay in that middle tier or drop down to the Bradford grouping. My reasonable hope is that he takes a small step forward and becomes the QB we can depend on to make a few plays when needed. He doesn't have to be a guy who can routinely take over a game and win it. He does not to be a little bit better and more consistent at extending drives than he was last year.
  4. Serious question: Does anyone know the rules around coaches contact with players during the offseason? How much and under what circumstances are coaches allowed to "reach out" to players? I know it sounds stupid, but I would bet that there is some language in the CBA on this topic.
  5. First and foremost, I wish Seantrel a speedy recovery from his surgeries and I hope they have his condition under control so he is no longer suffering. Secondly, I think everyone will need to be very patient with him this off season. I would have to imagine he has lost weight and muscle and is no where near playing condition. Its going to take time and hard work (and patience) for him to get into shape and be ready to play at a high level. It is concerning to me that it seems the organization was completely out of touch with him and his agent about such a serious medical situation. What's even more concerning is that none of his teammates reached out to check on him during the offseason. You'd think he would have at least 1-2 close friends on the team. That seems odd to me.
  6. I'll be pretty surprised if Gilmore doesn't get his extension this offseason. And it would not surprise me at all of Taylor gets one during the season.
  7. or they might be the same since they will probably have the same starters
  8. What's interesting to me is to think what would've been different if they won that first one. I don't believe they would've gone to 4 straight. I'm not sure Marv would've been able to keep all of the egos in check and keep them focused had it not been for the mission to get back and try to finally win one. That mission would've been gone with a win in Superbowl 25.
  9. I would love to see the Bills do some dumpster diving amongst that group. Could definitely use depth at a lot of positions (WR, OT, LB, DE, S, etc.)
  10. It seems silly. But it is possible. kind of along the lines of "you don't know what you're missing". I didn't know I had poor vision until I went to get my learners permit when I turned 16. I remember going to pick up my new glasses and walking out of Sterling Optical in the mall and thinking "Holy Crap, I can see the leaves on that fake tree 200 feet away". You learn to function with what you have and don't realize any difference. It's like the difference in being born with an ability (sight, hearing, etc) and then losing it or being born without it. If you never had it, you don't know what you're missing.
  11. oh, right. I mixed that up. It was the 5th year option on Gilmore. I'm just happy that they are working hard to keep their own good players. They certainly did not go out and add any big name players but I still would not say they regressed. At worst, they stayed the same. With some development from key players who were here last year, some key players staying healthy this year and rookies contributing, they should be better than they were last year.
  12. Meh. His argument is that the Bills had a bad season on defense and then let go or lost Mario, Bradham and McKelvin and only added minimum wage free agents. Those points are valid. But he failed to mention that they were able to get long term contract in place to keep 2 quality players (Incognito and Glenn) and keep their O-line together. They also tagged Gilmore so he can't leave and are working to keep him. They have Taylor going into his second season as starter and they will hopefully have their RBs and WRs healthy this year. They also added some quality prospects in the draft. I don't agree with him that they Bills are one of the teams that regressed the most this offseason. I think it was another lazy shot at the Bills from Clayton.
  13. This is pretty much how I would rank them as well. a few guys might move up or down a spot or two but for the most part, this nails it.
  14. that's what I was thinking. Woods is a solid #2 receiver. I'd like to see the Bills offer him this deal now. Let him feel like he's a priority for the team and let him get some long term salary stability without having to overpay once he hits the open market.
  15. You should check facts before posting stupid things. It's actually pretty easy to google penalty stats. Gilmore had 5 flags all year. But that is not "at LEAST one PI call per game". Not even close.
  16. Slauson would be a great addition. Would give the Bills depth and options. Then the question becomes who are your best 5 OL Glenn Incognito and Wood are 3. The right side is the ? Is it better with Slauson at RG and Mills at RT. Is it better with Miller at RG and Slauson at RT. Is it better with Miller at RG and Mills at RT. Let them battle it out in camp and find out. Whoever ends up on the bench provides solid depth. My initial thinking is that I'd leave Slauson at G were you has shown he can play well. I believe he is better there right now that Miller. This would solidify that position and leave RT as the only question. Let Mills, Cujo and Henderson fight it out for the job. If they all flounder and no other FA are available, give Slauson a shot there and throw Miller back in at RG. Watching this play out in camp would be interesting.
  17. Question: Can they sign Taylor today to a contract extension that does not kick in until next season? Not sure what the cap rules are. I know they signed Dareus last year during the season and his deal didn't kick in until the next season. Not sure how that would work. Does the season officially have to start so the contract for this season is being honored and then the new contract is just that "a new contract" not an extension or change to the existing?
  18. Doing a mock draft the day before the draft is stupid and has a low accuracy rate. Doing one a year before the draft is a complete and colossal waste of time.
  19. I park in Drive 5, right up close to the stadium. I leave my seats when the clock hits 00:00. I am generally pulling in to my driveway approximately 30 minutes from the time I start my car. Straight down Southwestern to Union and home to Cheektowaga. I rarely have traffic issues getting in or out of Drive 5.
  20. Interesting, for sure. But still not guaranteeing that the stadium remains there. Could be speculative land acquisition for future development once new stadium is build downtown and the Ralph is demolished. Who knows. But certainly interesting to think about.
  21. definitely can't hurt. But I would bet that Kevin Kolb could still get injured doing a VR simulation.
  22. I like EJ. Seems like a very good person. Would've been nice if Kolb didn't get injured and force EJ to start immediately. I think EJ is a bit timid and I'm not sure starting NFL QBs can be timid. He lacks the gun slinger mentality that many of the top QBs have. I expect this to be his last year in Buffalo but I do think that he will have a long career carrying a clipboard for other NFL teams. He is smart and has a good attitude.
  23. What about Braxton Miller or one of the LBs Cravens or Correa? If the draft goes as the list above says, I'd take one of those 2 LBs or take Miller.
  24. So what happens if Tyrod plays great the first 4 games of the season and then has a season ending injury. EJ comes in and plays well. Leads team to the playoffs and even a win in playoff game 1?
