Can't we just be happy that we have 2 QBs that are playing well enough to win games when our Defense decides to show up and Jerry Hughes doesn't take stupid penalties? It's not Tyrod vs EJ. The question should be "Can Tyrod and EJ be good enough to get this team to the playoffs?" Because we need both to play well. Tyrod has earned the starting job. EJ was not spectacular yesterday but he made some plays. Think of it this way: Would the Patriots have beaten Cincinnati without Brady, Gronk, Edelman, Blount, Vollmer and McCourty? I doubt it.

How useless is Percy Harvin?
Maddog69 replied to Pine Barrens Mafia's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
that's what I was thinking. So far Harvin has been more useful than Charmin, I mean Sammy. It supposedly actually a 3 year deal. The final two years are voidable. Yr 2&3 salary is $9m each year -
I'm with you. I sat there yesterday thinking, "Atleast its not raining". If it was, I definitely would've left after the TD to start the 3rd qtr. It would have been only the second time I've left early since getting my season tickets 14 years go.

The fact that Rex got a 5 year deal is starting to really scare me. I'm starting to have buyers remorse

How many wins do we get this season?
Maddog69 replied to Buffalos#1Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Same here. Rex coaches teams are 2-17 in games after a win. I can't see him doing it 3 times in a row after only doing it twice in 19 tries. -
Agreed. And as for taunting, it should be an all or nothing. I hate the randomness of enforcement. You see guys running their mouths all day and no flags. Then the ref throws a random flag. It drives me nuts. I must say to my wife 30 times a game "that's taunting" and rarely see a flag.

I agree we have good talent on defense. But I believe a big part of our problem is at the Safety position. Without Aaron Williams, there is a huge hole at Safety. Graham is decent, at best. The rest of them are awful especially in coverage. Without a dominating pass rush, they are getting killed.

Rule Questions.. Maybe someone here can help
Maddog69 replied to plenzmd1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can't answer the first question but to answer the second. You have to get both challenges right to get another challenge. So just because you get the first one right, it doesn't you still have two left. You still have to get the next one right to earn a Third one. -
3-3 Glass Half Full or Half Empty!
Maddog69 replied to PlayoffsPlease's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Half full, half empty. Who cares? Fill that glass up and drink it down. This team is more tolerable when you're drinking. -
And yet, Roman still refused to keep feeding McCoy the ball. I nearly lost it on the 3rd and 3 where he calls a pass play with an empty backfield. Not only do we not run (which had been effective), we don't even give the illusion that we might run. Colossally stupid play call. EJ made some bonehead plays, some adqequate plays and a few good ones. If you were expecting much more from him at this point, you were setting yourself up for disappointment. As far as the accuracy goes, give him a break. WRs are paid to make catches. Not every pass is going to be pinpoint. Look at the Indy game last night. The first throw luck made to his tight end looked exactly like EJs throw to Clay. Every QB makes bad throws. What hurt EJ's performance yesterday was decision making on some of the third downs. (Playcalling and Henderson getting hurt didn't help either. Kouandijo is not good).

We could still get 10-11 wins...
Maddog69 replied to USMCBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The way I see it, the Bills have 20 shot at beating New England. I also expect them to lose 1 of the 2 Jets games. So that puts them with 5 losses and 8 games left to play. While I think the Bills can win each of those 8 games, I don't expect them to win all 8. I see them winning 5-6 of those games. Ending up 8-8 or 9-7. But, I could be 100% wrong. That's why they play the games. All I know for sure is, they'd better stomp the Jags in London or this season is done. -
The problem is that whomever the Bills draft will immediately be labeled a bust by half of the people on this board. He will not be allowed time to develop into an NFL QB and he will be nit picked on every single throw, hand off, interview, facebook post and bowel movement.

Why did Rex get rid of the Kicker Gay?
Maddog69 replied to Dr. K's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why keep two? Because: 1.) you need a kicker who is accurate on FG's and PAT's. That guy is not always good on Kick offs 2.) Field position is important. If you have a kickoff specialist who can boot it through the endzone regularly so the opposition is starting at the 20 versus a kicker who gets it to the 3 yard line and bad kick coverage lets your opponent start at the 30 or better, you should keep a kickoff specialist. -
Why did Rex get rid of the Kicker Gay?
Maddog69 replied to Dr. K's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'll be shocked if he is not brought back this week. -
I hadn't thought of it this way before, but as I sit here frustrated after yesterday's loss (the 3rd in 4 home games), I started to think about Rex's word's. "We want to build a Bully". Well, what is a Bully? To me, a bully is a punk who runs his mouth and pushes around weaker individuals but backs down when challenged and slinks away with his tail between his legs. Well, that's exactly what this team is. Great job, Rex. Mission accomplished.

Source: EJ Manuel to start Sunday for Tyrod Taylor
Maddog69 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have as much confidence in EJ performing well on Sunday as I do with Taylor. I think both are excellent your QBs who will have good plays and bad plays. I'm not the least bit concerned which guy starts on Sunday. It will be a team victory or loss. It won't be on one guys. I believe the defense will need to have a tremendous game in order for the Bills to have a chance. Being a home games helps the Bills too. RWS is going to be rocking again this week. GO BILLS -
It can be difficult really seeing who is really open at any given time since the DBs sometimes drop coverage on a guy if they are certain the throw isn't going there. The one thing I would agree with Sammy on is that he should probably be the #1 read for the QB when it is obvious before the snap that he is single covered. I've seen a bunch of plays from my seats in the stadium where it was clear that Sammy had 1 guy on him and should be thrown to. It should be a priority for the Bills to get him the ball. He supposedly has unique playmaking abilities. I would not want them to force it to him when he is covered and other playmakers are open, but it should be a focus of the offense to use him better. That said, I think it sucks that Sammy took this as far as he has. Whining to your agent and getting him to call Whalley is bad enough. But airing it to Rodak is inexcusable. Talk to Roman. Talk to Lal. Talk to Taylor. Show them in film study where you are open like you say you are. I actually won $20 because I bet a friend of mine in the offseason that Sammy would be the first one crying that he wasn't getting the ball enough. Unless Taylor is chucking it 40-50 times a game, there's no way to keep all of these guys happy.

Watkins' post-practice hot takes
Maddog69 replied to The Big Cat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The EJ topic has been hashed and re-hashed. The one comment I'll make is this. The thing that makes me lean toward a conclusion that EJ was playing scared was the positioning of his downfield passes along the sideline. Every one of them was thrown comfortably out of bounds. This makes me think EJ was not having accuracy issues, but that he was purposefully keeping the ball where it could not be intercepted rather than giving his guy a chance. This is not to say EJ has great accuracy or will be great. Just an observation.
