it would be a mistake to give Cousins that kind of money and it would be a mistake to re-do Taylor's contract at this point. Be patient. Let the season play out. If he plays well, what I would try to do if I were the Bills is to increase the guaranteed money in his current 3 years deal and try to remove the voidable 3yd option. Give him something like $15-20m guaranteed money over the next two seasons and then if he's great next year, look to make big money extension before year 3 starts.

Is Billy Jo Hobert still available?

2014 vs 2015 Buffalo Bills
Maddog69 replied to The Real Buffalo Joe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is probably about right. -
I would like to see more sustained success, continued improvement and proof of durability before seeing him get a long term deal for something like $14-15m per. He is still under contract next year no matter what. 2017 is voidable. I would see how this year plays out and then consider reworking the deal in the offseason.

While Taylor's play has been solid, I don't think the Bills should be in a hurry to give him huge money. I like what he's done so far, but I think it would be a mistake to give him a contract like they gave Fitz.

Tony Romo is back - Will play vs Dolphins
Maddog69 replied to K D's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There is an excellent chance he is re-injured and not playing by the time we have them in late December. -
I don't expect the Bills to beat the *Pats on Monday. Could it happen, sure. Is it extremely unlikely, absolutely. the *Pats are one of the top teams in the league year after year. The Bills have been one of the worst. Expecting the Bills to go on the road and win against the *Pats is not smart. It will be interesting to see what kind of game plan Rex puts in against the Pats since the game plan he used in game 1 was terrible. But I'm not getting all worked up if they lose. We can afford two losses out of these 7 games. This is probably 1 of those 2.

Even Simpler Math - Russel Wilson < TT
Maddog69 replied to moshermw's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This. -
I agree with those suggesting LB as a priority. Bradham and Brown are both having down years and maybe that's because they are not good fits for the defensive scheme.

And he sucker punches Brady and breaks his jaw during the coin flip.

I was reading something about this yesterday. Definitely something to think about. Getting in either one would be great but the 5 seed would be very much preferred.

[closed]The criticism of Tyrod Taylor
Maddog69 replied to NextYearGuys's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There certainly are a few at the negative extreme, just as there are some at the positive extreme ready to anoint Taylor as the savior of the franchise. I tend to live more in the middle. He has done good things and bad. As has the rest of the team. Everything good that happens is not all solely because of him and the same goes for everything bad. I am encouraged by his play so far and I am excited to see how the rest of the season progresses. I do get annoyed by the stat geeks. "TT has the highest completion percentage in the league". Sure but he throws it 12 times a game. Stats can be found to support just about any argument. "Tyrod singlehandedly won the Titans game". Ok fine, but he also contributed to possibly losing it by his poor play throwing the ball for most of that game. Etc. -
Monday Night Football is a free swing - be aggressive!!
Maddog69 replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with this to an extent. Everyone is expecting a loss for the Bills in this game so they can afford to be aggressive and take chances, if they fail, it was expected anyway. That being said, they need to play smart. Keep their heads in the game. No dumb penalties. No mental mistakes and take advantage of every opportunity to put points on the board. The Jets lost last night because their coach did not manage game situation well. He panicked in the name of aggressiveness. If he had taken the 2 FGs instead of going for it on 4th down, the Jests probably win. I don't want Rex to make this same mistake in the name of aggressiveness. Our offense is not going to run and gun with Brady. Not going to happen. Our best chance is ball control. Run the ball. Use up clock. Keep Marcia on the bench. Take some shots downfield when appropriate but we cannot afford 3 and outs. -
[closed]The criticism of Tyrod Taylor
Maddog69 replied to NextYearGuys's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I haven't seen a lot of hate towards Tyrod (if any). I have seen people being realistic about this strengths and weaknesses (every QB has both). I have also seen people exaggerating about Tyrod's play and overstating it. People have different opinions. That is the reason boards like this exist, so people of opposing views can debate them. If you are overly sensitive about any sort of honest critiquing of Tyrod's play (or that of any other players), maybe a message board is not the place for you. -
Pretty much what everyone else said. Besides the Pats game, every other game on our schedule is winnable. And who knows, maybe the *Pats have an off game. I think it is VERY conceivable for the Bills to get 5 wins out of those 7 games. We SHOULD win against NYJ at home, plus beat the Skins, Chiefs and Texans. The tougher ones appear to be *Pats and Eagles on the road and Dallas at home (assuming Romo is back). I just hope the team gets the job done and has us in a position to have those last two games at RWS mean something this year. Then they can bring those Guiness Book of Records people back because that place is going to be ROCKIN'. Can you say Fandemonium?

Offensive play calling last night
Maddog69 replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The playcalling was ok. The execution was not ok. That said, I hated the formation they used when trying to run out the clock at the end of the game. They get a 9yd run on first down before the 2 minute warning. After the two minute warning, I would've loved to see Tyrod under center and a QB sneak on 2nd down (and again on 3rd if needed) to get the first down and ice the game. If not a sneak, at least have Taylor under center and hand off from there. I hated the 2 runs out of the shotgun formation that both got stuffed. Why start 5yds back when you need less than 1 yard and have 2 tries to get it? -
To be fair, he sucked for most of the Tennessee game and only needed the miraculous runs because he was struggling to read the defense and hit receivers with passes. So giving credit for "single handedly victory" is probably a bit generous, in my opinion. He was able to recover from his poor play to get the win and deserves credit for that but single handed? Does the defense get credit for holding Tennessee to 13 points despite 7 punts and numerous 3 and outs from Taylor and the offense? As far as I can tell from the game stats, Tyrod had about 20 yds passing in the first half.

Tyrod is a work in progress. He's certainly not the god that some fans want to make him. He has struggled mightily in atleast 3 games. He will need to improve his ability to stand in the pocket, read a defense and deliver the ball when there is pressure. But I think that will come with experience. He will need to depend less on his running ability and more on reading a defense and throwing the ball. Too many plays last night were wasted because he panicked and just tried to run. He will need to improve. I think he can improve. Keep in mind that was a great defense he faced last night. I also think Roman needs to improve on play calling to help him out. For instance, we come out of the 2 minute warning with a 2nd and 1. Roman decides to call 2 consecutive run plays out of shotgun formation and both get stuffed. Why not put Tyrod under center and pound the ball up the middle from there instead of from 5 yards back?

I Can't Picture Buffalo Winning... or Losing

The closer we get to kickoff, the more confident I am feeling about this game.
