  1. This is the argument that drives me nuts. You don't just pull a QB of the QB tree and he shows up and is great. That happens very very rarely. If you draft a guy, it takes time for him to develop. Especially if you draft a guy in the first, you have to give him a couple years to develop rather than picking a QB every year and playing musical QBs. The problem with this fanbase if that we have no patience due to the playoff drought.
  2. So then take it a step further. Taylor is your starter for 5 years. The drafted QB never sees the field. You wasted picks to move up and get him that could've been used to address other needs and then you lose the QB to free agency or trade him for less than you spent to get him. To me, it is not the smart move unless they are absolutely certain that Taylor is not the answer and/or they are 100% convinced that whomever they are drafting is a sure thing.
  3. Heard it discussed by Mike Pereira. The play never should have been allowed to happen for 2 reasons 1.) *Pats had a guy run partway onto the field and then back off (I think it was Chandler). The Bills tried to run a player on to address that and that had to run him off. Pereira said that, at that point, the Ref should've stood over the ball and allowed to bills to properly address the attempted substitution before allowing the *Pats to snap the ball. 2.) Ignoring this, the play also should have blown dead because Hughs was so far in the backfield. Pereira said the ref should have blown the whistle and flagged the bills for a pre-snap offsides. This would've given the *Pats some penalty yardage and then they would've had to reset the play. The Bills got screwed on this play.
  4. But you don't know if that is by play-calling or Taylor not reading the play correctly, seeing Watkins open, trusting his eyes and delivering a proper throw. I've seen Watkins open plenty of times and Taylor doesn't deliver the ball. I think this offense would look completely different if we had a veteran QB here who can scan the field and find the open receiver. Taylor isn't there yet (maybe he never will be, I'm not sure)
  5. I disagree. I want consistency. Build on this year, don't keep changing. Find the things that went wrong and fix them. That includes game plans, play call, play execution, player selection (starters/backups) etc. I think Roman has made some bad play calls, but nothing terrible. I would prefer to stick with him.
  6. In theory, you are right. But you're talking about using resources to trade up to get QB and then leave him on the bench and never play him? I don't think that is likely. I don't think the Bills will go all in to get a QB this year unless they are sure TT is not the guy. Some fans here are sure. I don't think the Bills are. I would expect the Bills to use their top pick to add to the team around Taylor and maybe pick a QB later. Who knows. It will be interesting. Hopefully Taylor finishes this year strong and we go to the playoffs and this is a non-issue.
  7. I just posted this in the Tyrod injury thread but its more appropriate here. If we draft a QB, the question becomes "what about Tyrod"? Lets say you trade up to get a QB. Your starter next year is most likely Taylor to let the rookie learn behind a vet. What if Taylor has a good year and leads the Bills to the playoffs? Taylor will want a big contract. Do you sign him and leave the drafted QB on the bench (or trade him)? Do you just let Taylor walk after ending a 16yr playoff drought? That's the problem with taking a QB high. I would suggest taking a guy in Rd2 or 3 as insurance for Taylor. If Taylor sucks next year and the drafted QB doesn't impress, then go all out for QB in 2017 draft. If Taylor is good, re-sign him and no need to pursue a QB in 2017.
  8. I think the Bills are still in a tough spot. QB Purgatory as Whalley said. Lets say they decide to draft a QB in Rd1 (maybe even trade up to get one). You head into next season with Taylor most likely to be the starter. If Taylor goes on to have a solid season and leads them to the playoffs do you re-sign Taylor for big money and let the draftee sit on the bench (or try to trade him). Or do you just let Taylor walk and hand the job to the guy they just drafted? That's debatable. Add to that, I've watched Hackenberg and Connor Cook a bit this year and am not impress at all with either one.
  9. Agreed. Watkins had his man beat on numerous plays, Taylor just did not read the play and deliver the ball.
  10. I thought Roman did a fine job of play calling with the exception of the two sweeps on 3rd and short that got stuffed in the backfield. I would prefer to see QB sneaks or atleast just pound it up the middle, from under center on a HB dive play. Other than those few plays, I thought the play calling was fine. The execution sucked. Taylor was terrible. McCoy dropped a TD. Woods dropped a first down. Lots of mistakes to go around.
  11. I disagree. It is easier to accept a blowout and find ways to justify it in my mind. Another agonizing, last second loss is much more painful. In a blowout, you don't get your hopes up only to have them crushed.
  12. I was annoyed by the bogus caution flag with 9 laps to go to Nascar could line the cars up and let one of the guys in the Chase run off and win it.
  13. I truly love his commercials. Peyton is great.
  14. If the Pats still have Brady, they are still more likely to win than we are.
  15. I hate to say it, but he is right, to some degree, when he says this: "Has the Patriots conference competition ever been more pathetic, more injured, more hopeless?" In years past, they had to battle Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Denver and Indy for superiority in the AFC. This year, most of the conference is mediocre at best. Cincy is up there, but they will choke in the playoffs like always. There really doesn't appear to be anybody to seriously challenge the *Pats this year.
  16. 248 total yards (203 rushing/45 penalty yards)
  17. Absolutely. We just can't afford several in a row, especially if we are holding a late lead and trying to close out a game.
  18. Exactly. I am not rooting for them to lose (even if I was, it would have no effect on the outcome anyway). I want the Bills to win. I watch the game in hopes that they can pull off a miracle. But I also have enough common sense to understand that the *Pats are a better team than the Bills are and that it would be a tremendous upset if they Bills won. Being a realist does not make we any less of a fan. It is nice to watch the Bills play against good teams because that lets me see just how much the Bills have improved and how much more work is left to be done to be serious contenders.
  19. No offense, but I think Gilbride's analysis holds more weight than yours.
  20. I think the difference is that it is more repeatable and sustainable if you are having success because you are doing things correctly. If you have success unconventionally, it often isn't sustainable long term (see Kaepernick).
  21. I think the only chance the Bills have is to keep Brady off the field as much as possible. We cannot afford 3 and outs. Unless we can hold the Cheats to 20 or less, I don't think we win.
  22. That's called a Gilooly (but its a tire iron, not a bat).
