I think you're looking at it wrong. There is not one factor that is to blame for the Bills failures. Trent is 100% responsible for his own poor play. You can say that coaching, playcalling, line play, all the other crap factor in, but I think good QB's show their skill regardless of the team/coaches around them. Yes, a QB in the right situation has the most success. My point is that Trent sucks. He is no more than a backup NFL QB. At the same time, the Bills coaches almost all suck, the front office sucks and Ralph sucks. The franchise mired in a losing culture that comes down from the top. Trent not to blame for any of that. He is responsible for not being very good (more accurately genetics or god are responsible but thats a whole other conversation). I guess I just don't like the premise of trying to place blame for the Bills current plight on any one person. There is plenty of blame to go around. But it ultimately all falls on the man who owns the team.

Old Ralphie says he wants to win and them does nothing to actually try to win. Its an act. He wants to line his pockets. He has proven for 50 years that winning is definitely not his #1 priority. As much as I hate Jauron, I guarantee the next goofball they hire won't be any better. They will not hire a top notch head coach. I am sure of it.

if we lose to miami does jauron get fired?
Maddog69 replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree that I don't see anything happening before the Bye week. But I do think an embarassing loss to Miami this week would be the nail in the coffin for Jauron unless the made a dramatic turn around in the following weeks. I think, if we get to the Bye with 2 or less wins, Jauron would be fired. -
Dungy or Shanahan are my top two favorites. But I think our coach next year will be Dick Jauron unless we have a complete disaster of a season and only win 4 or less games. If we are mediocre, they will make the injury excuse. If Jauron is gone, we will get a second tier assistant like James Lofton or a retread HC like Herm Edwards or Dom Capers. We will not land one of the top guys, although I have this wierd feeling Gruden might end up here, but I doubt it.

my suggestion is for the NFL to force Ralph to sell the team to and owner who cares about winning and not just lining his pockets at the fans expense.

The O-line really struggled today. I top notch QB would have still been able to make some plays. Trent is not a top notch QB. He had no time to get the ball downfield, but there were times when he should have been able to make a play and was not able. This is another in a long list of examples where Trent is not a franchise QB. The line was bad, but the defense held a very good offense to 13 points through 2 quarters. The Bills were in position to take the lead in the 4th quarter. Trent needed to find a way to lead this team to victory and did not.

This guy is exactly what I expected the Bills to go after. A young, athletic, energetic OT with potential. He fits in perfectly with the line we have. This line has the potential to be a strength of the team for a good long time. I am excited for this group to get more game experience. I don't expect this kid to make the probowl, but it sounds as though he fits what he are looking for on the line. Yes, he is cheaper than some of the veteran options, so people will bash the move. But he is also younger, more athletic and moldable/coachable into what the Bills want. Kugler commented on how the young group we have wants to work. That is something noone said about Dockery and Fowler and even Peters in the last year or so (I have to give JP credit because he worked hard to get from Undrafted TE to Probowl LT but then he litterally got fat and happy). GO BILLS.

Trent Edwards' salary = Bargain for Buffalo
Maddog69 replied to checkdownthis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Whenever they do an extension, I don't expect them to break the bank. I would expect something averaging $5-6 for 2-3 years. Then he hits the big payday if he continues to progress. -
Trent Edwards' salary = Bargain for Buffalo
Maddog69 replied to checkdownthis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think they will definitely wait until the offseason before doing anything with Trent. That way if they end up making a move for a new coaching staff and/or GM, the new guys won't be stuck with a QB they don't want. -
Mike Martz giving props to Edwards

I've been one of the skeptics regarding Trent. But he made some really nice throws. They were not perfect. No QB puts it in the exact right spot every time. I'm watching Peyton Manning and his throws are not perfect either. Thats why you need WRs who can adjust to the ball and make plays. We have those. I hope Trent keeps throwing it up there for them and giving them a chance to do what they do best. Lets not nit pick. It was a good performance and a much needed win. Enough said. -
That was awesome. Nice work.

do we resign Langston Walker for RT?
Maddog69 replied to freester's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Walker burned the bridge with Buffalo. From the comments after he left he sounded fat, out of shape and lazy. He's not athletic enough for the no huddle. My guess is they will sign a young guy none of us have heard of who is more athletic and energetic vs fat and slobbery. -
This was the tale of two offenses. They were aggressive and exciting early and then got very conservative and Trent seemed to fall into his old habits of quickly moving away from downfield looks and taking the underneath stuff. Then they finally decided to be aggressive again and put it away. Jackson was a beast. Trent showed me a lot today. I've not been a big fan of his so far. But I liked the aggressiveness and throwing downfield. He answered any question I had about airstrength. His bomb to T.O. (the one T.O. dropped) was awesome. That thing was in the air 50-60yds and did not float. It was a rope. Very impressive. I also like that they went back to T.O. later in the game to give him a chance to make up for the drop. What a game. What a beautiful weather day in Buffalo. The fans were load and proud at the stadium. All in all, a great day to be a Bills fan (for a change).

You are right. Ellison looked awful stuffing them on 3rd down. They should cut him. He tries to win. We don't need any of that around here
-
NE* made adjustments to stop Buffalo from getting to Brady. They also made adjustments on D as the game went along to completely eliminate T.O. and Lee. Late in the gsme NE* found a way to exploit our soft defense. I would say that Yes, the Bills were seriously outcoached tonight. Please don't try to say DICK is in the same league as Belicheat, you are just making yourself look stupid.

Bills show a good effort, just fall short
Maddog69 replied to Chuckknox's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I saw a completely different game than you did. Our offense was Fred jackson. It was exactly what we saw last year. AVP=Schonert=Fairchild. Same wimpy play calls. No shots dowfield. I don't recall any throws to the endzone. Nothing new. That said, Bell's penalties hurt the offense and so did the drops. But I would disagree completely with your assessment. We handed the game back to NE*. We had the game won but the coaching could not get it done. We got beat by the same play on both of NE's* Touchdowns. We got pressure on Brady early but nothing after their coaches repsonded. THE BILLS ARE NOT A LEGITIMATE NFL TEAM -
for 0-16 and the first pick in the draft. and hopefully for a new coach and god willing, owner.

There is only one person to blame for this loss
Maddog69 replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know you are just being a douchebag but I had to respond anyway. If the player is an idiot, I've seen many coaches call them out for it. Mike Singletary comes to mind. Dick proves time and again that this passive game plan and trying to just hang on does not work. I cannot wait til he's gone. -

Maddog69 replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You cannot be that stupid. If Mckelvin was told to kneel it down and he didn't he should be cut. DICK said in his press conference that he supported what Mckelvin did. which proves to me hoe stupid DICK is. -
AVP was fine ? it was more of the same. No downfield passing at all. The TV joked about how pathetic our offense was in he first half.
-
What game did you watch ? Unless by mixing it up you mean throwing check downs to different recievers. How does NE* get the ball to Moss so often but we cannot find T.O. or Evans. I hate watching this team play.
-
They never once tried to win this game. No aggression on O or D. Another pathetic attempt to show up and hope for the best. I F-ing HATE THIS TEAM. They a loser mentality. Even when it appeared we might win I was angry at how terrible the offfense played. YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME. THE BILLS ARE A JOKE.

"Where else would you rather be than right here, right now?" I'll get back to my pessisism tomorrow. Right now its time for football and I am psyched. GO BILLS. Lets kick some cheaters' butts and stun the NFL with a big upset victory. BILLS 44-42 in OT.

Runyan feels "great" after Bills workout
Maddog69 replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Runyan would be a great addition to the line even just for his attitude. But, the only way the Bills are going to get him is if they bite the bullet and sign him know rather than trying to pinch a few pennies and waiting until after Monday. If we wait, I think he will definitely go back to Philly.
