So These 4 Players Are There When Bills Pick
Maddog69 replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jim Kelly had a similar injury in his senior season. Would you say he had a "glass shoulder"? I get that the shoulder injury is a concern, but come on. -

The obvious answer is that the draft is a crapshoot. Regardless of what position is drafted, there is a chance the guy will be good and a chance he will be a bust. The Bills problem has been that they have a proven track record of selecting busts in the first round. If the current regime is making the pick in April, I would be willing to wager that whomever they pick will be a bust. We need a new group of people running the drafting and free agent signing or else all of our discussion on this board are pointless. -

Touche' But I don;t see any Kurt Warners available via Free agency this year. In my opinion, its easier to find a solid LT than it is to find a franchise QB. If we have a shot at a franchise QB, I think we should take it. -
Looks Like Brohm is starting This Week

This board will have him run out of town by halftime. -

I definitely hope Colt McCoy or Sam Bradford are the pick for the Bills in rd1. To your point about protecting the "franchise QB" whats the difference if you don't have one. The BIlls need a franchise QB and help on the O-line. Take the QB in Rd1 and then address OL in later rounds and Free agency. Arizona went to a superbowl with Mike Gandy at LT. Lineman are available. Franchise QBs aren't. -
Bills need to try and catch lighting in a botttle

Rather than trying to get lucky with an unproven commodity, I would much rather see the Bills hire a GM and a HC with proven track records of success in the NFL. Casserly and floyd reese come to mind for GM candidates but I am sure there are more. Cowher would be my #1 choice for HC, but that probably isn't happening. I would be happy with Billick or Fassel and even John Fox it he gets canned. -
This post proves my point: http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/index.php?showtopic=103626 Incognito shows up on Wednesday, starts on Friday in between 2 guys he's never met, one of which is mediocre and the other is terrible. And simply because we did not run behind Incognito for 7 straight TD's, a bunch of boneheads are saying that he sucks. Had we found a way to win that game, these same people would have wanted his name on the wall of fame.
-
and what if he struggles behind our sham of an o-line (just as Bledsoe, Losman, Edwards and Fitz have) ? Does that mean he sucks ? Maybe he does, maybe he doesn't but I cannot imagine what an intelligent person could see out of him in 2 games without a real grasp on the gameplan (if we have one) that will tell you if he is any good or not. If he happens to complete a pass or two and shows some "poise" there will be a large faction no this board annointing him as the next great one. If he struggles (which he most likely will) there will be a contingent on here claiming he is the second coming of Joe Dufek. My point is that whatever he does over the last two games really has no bearing whatsoever on whether or not he will eventually be a good NFL QB. People need to relax and not make snap judgments. That being said, if he completes 1 pass each to T.O. and Trent, I am ordering a Brohm jersey. Just kidding. Go Bills.
-
Unfortunately, with the bunch of morons on this board, this comment will honestly be made by some knuckle dragging idiot next Sunday after Brohm plays one game behind a horrible O-line with and Offense that has been one of the worst in football for a decade. If the kid does not come in and suddenly transfer the offense info a re-incarnation of the K-gon, he will be labelled a bust and people will be calling for his head.

I think it was a token gesture by Spags to let the team know he is in control. Incognito argued with him on the sidelines on Sunday and was cut on Monday which looks pretty impressive like the coach isn't taking crap from players. But I would bet my house that if the Rams were battling for a playoff spot and/or if Incognito was under contract past this year, he would not have been cut. This was a token move and nothing more. It cost them nothing to get rid of him, he was gone in 3 weeks anyway and it allows Spags to seem like he's got some stones.

I was hoping the Bills would hire Allen to run the show in Buffalo. On the plus side (maybe) the takes one option away from Shanahan.

Bills claim Incognito
Maddog69 replied to In space no one can hear's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
GREAT MOVE -
Not necessarily saying that Mccoy is better than Clausen but Mccoy beats him in pretty much every statistical category (carreer completion percentage, Career QB rating, Total Yds, Total TDs, etc) so your argument does not hold water.

You cannot be serious. Probowl QB? At no point has Trent looked like a Probowl QB. At his best, he was a mediocre "game managing" type QB. Please put down the crack pipe. Trent sucks. I don't need to see him play again to prove it.

If Bills beat PATS & Colts, is the coach search over?
Maddog69 replied to Chuckknox's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes. The search for a coach would be over, but I would be searching for a surgeon to sew up my ass after the monkeys flew out of it. -
definitely worth a waiver claim. Tough, old school O-lineman would add depth to the midde of the line. He's not making much money and we should be pretty high on the waiver priority chart.

Colts could sign Losman this week reports nfl.com
Maddog69 replied to fairfaxbill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wait. I thought JP sucked an no NFL team would ever consider signing him. Maybe all the talent evaluators on this board are really talking out of their asses after all. Either that or they know more than Bill Polian. My money is on Polian. -
It's so funny seeing all of the old anti-Losman arguments now used against Trent and the old "well Trent wins more games than JP argument" is one of the best. I love the Bills but always hated how so many people fell in love with Trent because he completed tons of dump offs and I am glad to see that he is finally done playing for Buffalo. I cannot tell you how many of my Sundays he ruined with his wimpiness and passivity. Trent has 0 chance of leading an NFL team. Absolutely 0.
-
Is this based on yoiur many years of scouting college football and evaluating talent ? Just curious as to why every available prospect rating (be it mock draft sites, so called draft experts on TV or even the more well know draft evaluators like Ourlads) lists multiple QBs with Round 1 grades but you think otherwise.
-
1.) Trent did not regress. He was never any good to begin with. 2.) It does not matter what fans think about who is better. His teammates have no faith in him and do not want him on the field. Trent is done in Buffalo and the NFL. Next.

NONE OF THEM WILL STILL BE EMPLOYED BY THE BILLS IN A MONTH.

Dungy built the structure that the team is built around, Caldwell did not. Dungy put the coaches, players and prcesses in place. Caldwell has simply stepped in and not screwed things up. Not saying Caldwell is also not a good coach. But just because the Colts are still good, does not mean Dungy isn't a good coach.
-
I have been saying for a while now that I thought we'd end up with Dungy (and probably Vick), especially after the comments Dungy made about what a great opportunity the Bills job is going to be for the next coach. I can definitely get behind the idea of hiring Dungy. In 13yrs as a head caoch, he has 139 wins and 69 losses and has only had 1 losing season and that includes the years he spent fixing Tampa from being a perennial laughing stock. I think he would be perfect for the Bills. And I could live with Vick for a year or two while our 1st round QB develops.

The best QB for the 2010 Bills...
Maddog69 replied to Armchair GM's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Or he was allowed to come back too quickly from a serious injury in order to try to keep his team near the top of the standings and to protect his draft status. He should have say out longer after the first injury. I remember Jim Kelly missing most of his senior season with a shoulder injury. Would you call him a cream puff?
