  1. Because the meddling owner in DC wants to win a Superbowl and is willing to commit the finances required to do so. The meddling owner here wants to balance the bottom line and will not commit to spending money to build a competitive team. That is exactly why neither Shanahan nor Cowher (nor any other top coach) will come here. Stop being so damn naive.
  2. Or lose. Most likely, whichever one loses gets hired
  3. Which is another reason to hate Ralph. He could put plans in place that would guarantee the Bills stay in Buffalo, but he refuses. While I don't agree with Darth most of the time, he is 100% correct in this one. Nothing will change until Ralph is gone. He claims to be willing to do whatever it takes to win and then stands in the way of doing it. He is a stubborn old man hanging on to the Bills like my Grandfather refusing to give up his drivers license. When Ralph's time on earth is done, then we will see what happens with the Bills. Maybe they will be sold to the highest bidder and moved to L.A. or Toronto or Malaysia. But then again, maybe they will get an owner who values the support that WNY has given the team all these years and will return the favor by signing a longterm extension to stay here and by doing everything they can to build a winner, two things Ralph refuses to do.
  4. Does anyone else think this was intentionally leaked by Bettis for Cowher to put pressure on the Giants to dump Coughlin now ? This seems like a real dick move on Cowher's part.
  5. I know that this is a big if, but IF the reports are correct, the reason Bill Cowher will not come here is because Ralph will not give him final authority on players and will not commit a workable budget for Cowher to fill ihs staff with quality coaches and fill the roster with NFL caliber players. The Bills are not "doing exactly wat they should be doing". Ralph is being cheap and controlling. If he truly cared about winning, he would hire Cowher and give him what he wants. This would be his best chance of delivering on the bull **** promise he made to the fans this year. Instead, he will end up with a coordinator. Maybe they will turn out to be good. Maybe not. But he will not give them the money to get the best assistants and the best roster. If the Bills have any success in the next few years, it will not be because Ralph and Russ did the right thing.
  6. He initially declined and then changed his mind. I have not seen any reports today indicating that he changed his mind again. You might be thinking of Brian Schottenheimer, he declined to interview yesterday.
  7. And if you asked those same people if they prefered to be shot or stabbed they would all say stabbed, so what ? They both suck.
  8. Probably worse. The Raider have been to a Superbowl this decade. The Bills have not even come close to the playoffs.
  9. His personality and demeanor are very similar to Jauron. I am a season ticket holder and I am sick and tired of seeing our coach stand on the sidelines like a damn zombie and show now emotion or even signs of life. That'y why it was refreshing at first when Fewell took over. Atleast he had some fire. I honestly know very little about either one of them and will live with whomever they pick. Maybe Frazier will be great, he's well thought of according to national media. When I look at his credentials I am not really impressed. Atleast Grimm played in the league (and at a position where we need help), I think his personality is what this team and fanbase needs right now.
  10. When they get in the same room with Grimm, they need to superglue a Bills hat to his head and call the media in to announce him as the next Bills HC before he has a chance to run away screaming. I really don't want Frazier. Just reminds me too much of Jauron.
  11. This story has already been proved to be a load of crap. It was in the newspaper the other day it is completely disproven.
  12. I don't know much about Frazier. I have developed negative feelings because he reminds me of Jauron and would probably keep the tampa 2. He might turn out great and I am willing to give him a chance, but of these 2, I would much prefer Brian Schottenheimer for the following reaasons: 1.) Solid OC. 2.) Coached a rookie QB and tailored to game plan to protect him and still make the playoffs (albeit with some help from Cincy and Indy sitting players) but called a great game in the playoffs 3.) Great coaching pedigree. 4.) I think his dad would come along in some capacity. Even if he doesn’t, he will be there as a sounding board/mentor to help Brian. 5.) His name alone will help with building a solid staff even if his dad does not call in some favors 6.) It will take a good coach (and probably a few others if he raids the staff) away from a division opponent 7.) Hiring an Offensive minded coach would indicate that they are going to fix the problems on offense. 8.) Hopefully he will bring a more aggressive, attack style defense with him. I hate the Tampa 2.
  13. Or a Flacco/Ryan tye to come in and play well behind the same line our crappy QBs played poorly behind. I am not against improving the line, but doing that without improving the QB means little. I say do whatever necessary to get the best QB in Rd1. Draft OT in RD 2. Sign A veteran OT and OG (hopefully Incognito). Then you've addressed both of our biggest areas of weakness. Let the QB develop for a year while the line gels. Superbowl in 2011 unless there is a lockout.
  14. I wonder if Rivera and Grimm are declining interviews because they don't want the job or because they are busy prepping their teams for the playoff and don't want to take the time out to prep for and conduct the interview. These interviews are quite indepth, so I am sure there is a ton of prep work they would need to do to be at their best for the interview. I am hoping their denials are happening because they would rather focus on their current team and deal with these head coaching opportunities are their season is done. This whole process seems screwed up. Maybe the league needs to place a moratorium on coaching moves until after the superbowl to give everyone a fair chance at it. This would work out best for all of the teams and individuals involved. They could even put in tampering rules and fine team for any back channel communications regarding their coaching vacancies and also fine potential candidates for reaching out to try to build their coaching staffs.
  15. I find it funny how people can make snap judgements about these guys without really know anything about them at all. Remember that Bill Belichick was a career loser until Tom Brady came out of nowhere and led the Pats to their success. Without Brady, Belichick sucked. Without a QB our next coach and every coach after that will suck.

  17. So, if the bills have "found their guy" it seems to me that it cannot be someone they have not yet interviewed (other than the Schottenheimers because Nix knows them so well). So it would have to be: Fewell (almost no chance) Frazier (I hope not) The Schottenheimers in some combination (this would be great) Harbaugh (who supposedly is a "stealth" candidate" Or someone else who they talked to on the sly.
  18. Drafting any player in any round is a roll of the dice. We need a franchise QB. If Nix identifies Bradford or Clausen as that guy, you have to do whatever it takes to get him in Rd1. If not, go O-line and then take a chance on one of the other guys later. I think they will find a QB either in Free ageny, trade or Round 1.
  19. Exactly. I think they will wait for Cowher until Schottenheimer is available (which will probably be next week after losing to Indy). If Cowher does not say yes by then, I think we get Brian as HC and Marty as Asst HC or something like that. I could live with that. I don't want Frazier.
  20. If they don't get Cowher, I think it will be Schottenheimer Jr.
  21. I agree. I wonder why the Bills have not shown any interest in him at all.
  22. My thoughts exactly. Best DT, DE or pass rushing LB available unless a stud OL or WR (losing TO and Reed will leave a hole at WR) drops.
  23. Frazier has 9yrs experience as a HC at teh college level
  24. Russ Grimm turned down our interview without anything else lined up. Nobody know what these guys are thinking. Maybe Frazier felt that he did not have enough time to study their roster and their situation to be prepared for an interview this week. Who knows. I still Billieve we are getting Bill Cowher.
  25. sounds like many of the posters here.
