My Farewell to the Buffalo Bills
Maddog69 replied to StupidNation's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Is it possible to close his member account and block his IP from creating future ones ? -
I would take everything Billick says about the Bills with a big grain of salt. He is most likely a little peeved that he did not even get a call back from them after he pretty much begged for the job on national tv.

I'm expecting Jim Bates to be named the DC.
Maddog69 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I thought Campo was his DC in Dallas ? -
A.) This is not new news. This was talked about last week. B.) Schottenheimer is the exact definition of re-tread coach. In his best days, he took bad teams and made them mediocre. He also took great teams and made them mediocre. He would not be any better than Gailey. I know we are desperate to be even mediocre, but Marty is not the savior this franchise was looking for. Best case scenario, we gets us to 9-7. Gailey and Nix might just do better than mediocre.
-
hell yes. I would trade up to get him.
-
Gailey might not be the big name everyone was hoping for, but to say he is a step down from Perry Fewell tells me that you are: A.) Just very frustrated and saying whatever comes to mind without really believing it B.) Just not very smart Fewell is not an NFL head coach. He was only qualified to be a DC here because he was running Jauron's defense for him. He was more of an assistant DC. Gailey has been a successful HC at the college level and the NFL level. The man is qualified for the job. Whether he ends up being successful here remains to be seen but he is definitely a step up from Fewell.

Am i wrong for being excited for next year?
Maddog69 replied to zer0vette's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like Nix. I don't hate Gailey. But it is way too early to be excited. Still need to see if any meaningful changes are made in the Front office and if Ralph gives Nix full control to do it his way. We need to see who joins the coaching staff, especially DC. We also need to see what happens with the roster (what players we keep, what FA we bring in, what players we draft. We need to see what defensive scheme they will run. There are lots of questions that remain to be answered, but I do get a sense that the team has made a baby step in the right direction. But, to be honest, they really could not have gone any further in the wrong direction, so a step forward was ALMOST a guarantee. I am hopeful that things will be different, but I am going to need to see more proof before I would conider myself excited for next year. -
So, If Were Hiring Another Budget Coach,
Maddog69 replied to Dante's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This coming season will have no salary cap ceiling and no floor. There is not going to be a revenue sharing bucket that the Bills will need to have a minimum payroll to qualify for. My expectations for this offseason are very low. I would imagine there will be big roster turnover and mostly very young players on the team. No high priced FA's. The only thing I could see is a move for Vick or McNabb and let them play out their 1yrs deal just to appease the fans somewhat. Other than that. Its the draft. -
Good Comparison By Tim Graham
Maddog69 replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know he posts here alot and we are all grateful that he graces this board with his presence, but I have always found Tim's coverage of the Bills to be pricky and condescending. I think, in this case, he is just pissed that he did not know anything about the Bills interest in Gailey and that none of the players tweeted about it so he and ESPN could then post it is news and claim an exlusive. -
Guy is in charge of making recommendations and rankings of available players. He is not responsible for signing them. In fact, he has stated that many of the players he recommended were not signed and many of the players we signed were not high on his list. He did an interview with Allen Wilson a few weeks back. Same with Modrak, he recommended players. Russ, Ralph and Dick (not sure who had final say) chose to not listen.

Would Gailey have accepted our OC position?
Maddog69 replied to murra's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I vote for option 3. How the F do I know. Nobody knows the answer to this question. Its a pointless thread. Not o mention Grimm refused to interview and Frazier was said to have pulled his name out of the running. -
Help me find a new team
Maddog69 replied to Formerly BF_in_Indiana's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It wasn't meant to be a burn. More of a "don't go away mad, just go away" -
I agree 100%. I would be thrilled to get McCoy
-
Oh, good god. Some of the people on this board are completely idiotic.

Help me find a new team
Maddog69 replied to Formerly BF_in_Indiana's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
exactly. Whiny bitches like this guy need to grow up. What a baby. I am so sick of this type of attitude. I may not like Ralph or the decisions he makes, but I love the Bills and will always be a fan. I will quote Bill Polian, "If you don't like it, get outta town". Anyone else who wants to post crap like this should do us all a favor and leave. -
you're right. What a jerk. I would much rather have the players on my team act like thugs, drive drunk, hit pedestrians, take drugs, carry weapons, steal money, impregnate numerous woman, etc. There is no place in this league for players with morals and character. (sarcasm off). I don't personally ascribe to the overly religious act, but I have no problem with players who do.
-
Exactly. This guy is experienced and seems to build good offenses wherever he's been. He's known to be a teacher, which is good on a young team. The bigger question will be who he brings with him as OC and DC and what type of players they are able to go get. Give him the current roster and its more of the same. Give him some talent and we'll see what happens.

I heard he turned the Bills down so they turned to Gailey.

Mark it Down - Russ Grimm Next Head Coach
Maddog69 replied to Driffill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, there goes Grimm. Hopefully Frazier is still interested when their playoff run ends otherwise we are screwed. Ralph will recruit Marv out of retirement because he knows him and so does Buddy. -
How our D goes from middle of the pack to "top 5"
Maddog69 replied to EndZoneCrew's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You forgot to address the biggest problem with out defense last year..... The complete lack of offense. If we had any offense at all, the defense would have had much better stats. I like all of your ideas. But we also need a QB, LT and OC. -
So, the Bills can talk to Rivera, Garrett and Grimm this week (assuming they agree to talk) and then decide between them and Frazier. 4 decent coaches to choose from. Even with the bigger names turning them down, the new coach might be decent. Hopefully Ralph lets him get some talent and some good assistants.

Anyone Else Hear What Quadry Ismael Said
Maddog69 replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Its not what an organization says, its what they do. This team has never been about winning a Superbowl (with the exception of the Polian years when he forced Ralph to "spend money to make money". Once Polian left, it was back to the penny pinching ways. They will make a big signing here and there to keep the fans happy, but they do not run this team like the truly competitive teams do. Ralph likes to make all the final decisions even though he has no idea what he is doing. His money man is the one who refuses to sign the best player, but its Modrak, Guy and Jauron who get scapegoated. People on this board complain about people having an inferiority complex. The real problem is the Ralph is the one with the inferiority complex. He believes that the Bills are small market and cannot compete financially, so he doesn't even try. He just hires a marketing genius to run the team, polish the turd and sell it to the masses. Ralph needs to sell the team and let it move forward. I don't believe the team will ever leave Buffalo. I believe the can make money and I believe they can be successful again. Ralph and his cronies are the problem. -
and you've posed 7785 coments regarding "casual entertainment". Keep telling yourself that. Most everyone on this board loves the Bills and wishes things would be different. Some people are frustrated and unneccessarily negative. Some are realistic and realize that the ownership and front office situation at OBD will cause the decades of patheticness to continue and then there is the Rose Colored glasses crew (aka Head in the Sand Crew) who keeps saying "whats with the negativity, we are going to hire an awesome coach and next year is the year". I am in the realist group. I love the team and hope for the best, but I realize that I will inevitably be disappointed next year and the year after that and so on. I just hate when people come on here and tell others how they should feel or what they should say. This board is for discussion. I enjoy the different viewpoints. Would it really be any fun to come on here if everyone agreed and everything was all sweet and rosey ? GO BILLS.

Exacxtly. Some people choose to see reality. Some people choose to be naive and think the football fairy will show up and suddenly transform the Bills into a competitive NFL franchise. It makes absolutely no difference who the next HC is if Ralph is not committing to bringing in good talent evaluators and paying the money required to find the good players they recommend. Don't hold your breath. But maybe if all you Positive Patties pray hard enough, things will be better next year.
