Quick to rip TE and Trade for Campbell????
Maddog69 replied to Celtic_soulja's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know, but they must have been standing very close to him if Captain Checkdown overthrew them. -
National Football Post - Tebow to Bills at # 9........

why? They need help at both postions and as far as I know, they still get to pick other players, make trades and sign free agents to fill other areas of need. -
Mel Kiper hears "No" on Claussen to Buffalo
Maddog69 replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's plenty of time to judge a career. Many of the experts on TBD can identify a bust long before they are even drafted. Most of the time they don't even have to have seen the guy play. It's a pretty impressive skill. -
Mel Kiper hears "No" on Claussen to Buffalo
Maddog69 replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
His credibility is based on the fact that he posted on here that Nix would be announced as the new GM of the Bills a few hours before it came out in the media. Last week he posted that he's hearing Buffalo would not take Clausen. -
Sounds reasonable. I like the idea. If they are not interested, we could try to make the same deal with any of the other teams in that range. Trade down to the 20's for an extra 2. Then trade a 2 for Gaither.

Please explain the logic of your argument: "Clausen won't be ready to be a difference maker in 2010, so pass on him and take a QB in 2011 who also won't be ready to be a difference maker". You are basically guaranteeing 2-3 mores crappy years. If Nix think Clausen can be a franchise QB, take him. Build the rest of the team and be ready to win for many consecutive years. Fans need to get away from the notion that this thing can be fixed immediately and the Bills will be a contender this year. All draft picks and other moves need to be viewed under the notion that they are longer range moves, not just specifically trying to get the most wins in 2010. I don't know anything at all about Clausen, so I don't have an opinion on whether he is the right guy to take. But it seems that he is widely considered to be the only other QB besides Bradford who is considered a potential first round franchise QB. If Buddy and the scouting staff think this is true of him, they need to do whatever they have to in order to get him. And then they have to build a team around him. No QB alone is going to fix this team. But a franchise QB is a major part of the rebuilding process. But never forget that it is a process.

Honestly, we are such stupid/picky Bills fans
Maddog69 replied to JustMaxx's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I really hope we get Campbell. I'd be OK with Bulger only if they also draft a QB in the first 3rds to develop (McCoy, Tebow, Pike, etc). And please God, dump Trent. -
Why the Bills shouldn't trade for Campbell
Maddog69 replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Can you provide some empirical evidence to support your conclusion or should I just take your word for it? I look at a 4yr NFL starting QB who has put up solid stats and who has improved every year despite numerous coaching staff changes and personnel changes around him. I see a hard working kid, who by all accounts is intelligent and has never been in any sort of trouble. I see a QB who is just entering his prime at 28 and who is athletic and durable. Sounds pretty good to me. But you made such a compelling argument..... -

I love how Buffalo fans are now picky. A good QB who can get us to the playoffs is not good enough. If we cannot get Peyton Manning, we shouldn't bother upgrading at all. Campbell is head and shoulders better than any QB we've had since Kelly. He might not be elite. But I'll take better than average. Its a huge step forward in the rebuilding process. The whole discussion reminds me of the old phrase: Beggers can't be choosers. We don't an NFL caliber starting QB on the roster currently. There is one available for a mid round draft pick. Seems like a no-brainer to me. -

That might be the dumbest thing I've ever read and that is saying a lot considering how much time I spend on this site. The guy write how good Campbell is and how tough he is. He writes how Campbell is smart and has a great arm. He writes about how Campbell has been under pressure in Washington because of a terrible O-line and how he has had a new OC ever year. All of this praise and then finally makes his case for Campbell not being a good fit for Buffalo because his winning percentage as a starter was low. -
He had 3 lost fumbles in 16 games. Doesn't seem exorbitant by any means.

Please buy a few more Trent jerseys just for insurance.
-
I agree completely.

I like all three options. Unless, or course, they trade the pick for a player.

Do you think Gailey can change Trent?
Maddog69 replied to Bufcomments's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No, Gailey cannot change Trent. But if Trent is the starter, then my seat will change from occupied to empty. -
The Eagles reveal that it will take at least a top 42 pick

I love how people can guarantee what will happen in the future. None of us have a clue if McNabb has any interest in coming here or whether he would or would not sign an extension. In most cases money talks. If we pay him, he will sign, I do agree with the posters who say that they would not make the deal without an extesnion. I don't think the Bills or any other team would make this move without an extension. And from McNabb's perspective, it doesn't sound like he will have the option of going to a good team. He options are limited to B-lo, Oakland and maybe St Louis or SF. I think it is a possibility that he comes here and signs an extension and I would be thrilled. -

None of these players would have the same effect in the next 3yrs as a HOF Quarterback. Not even close. I would take McNabb over any of these players in a heartbeat. -

OK. Look at this way. Would you rather have McNabb or another player like: Byrd,James Hardy, Poz, Roscoe, Kelsay, Denney, Josh Reed. The only one that is even a question is Byrd and it remains to be seen how good he can be. My point is that we don't have a history of ifnding difference makers in Rd2, even guys who can be differrence makers for a short period of time. McNabb for a #2 would be great. Trading a #2 does not mortgage the future and it buys us a couple years to find a QB of the future. It also solidified the QB spot for a few years. McNabb is not elite anymore, but he is still way above anything we currently have or have had since Kelly. I honestly don't even understand why anyone in there right mind would be against this. -

1.) Franchise tag 2.) Don't tell me he would not sign a 3yr extension if the Bills made a lucrative offer. -

Maddog69 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thats the problem, without a decent QB, none of our WRs are taking any passes. We need a QB. If you can get a quality starter for a second round pick, what is the problem. I understand that he is nearing the end of the road and would be reluctant to sign a long term deal here. But thats up to Russ and Buddy to sell him that we are trying to win. Offer him a 2-3 yr ectension and promise that we will go LT in Rd1 and sign a FA wideout. Maybe he would want to play with Kevin Curtis again. This just seems like a no brainer. 2-3 yrs of very good QB play for a #2 pick, sign me up. -

If all it would take is our second round pick to get McNabb, the trade should be done already.
