One thing that will make you happy
Maddog69 replied to gregkash's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ralph sells the team to an owner who commits to keeping the team in Buffalo and actually trying to put a winning team on the field. I know. I know. Never going to happen. -
Klopfenstein is placed on injured reserve
Maddog69 replied to boyst's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wonder if this means they are close to signing Troupe. -
Sadly, your post describes exactly how I feel about Trent (and I am not into that). I hope I am wrong, but at this point I really have no interest in seeing him play for us anymore.

T.O. is the only player in NFL History
Maddog69 replied to Glass To The Arson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was happy we signed TO. I own a TO jersey. I believe he did give up on this team. He did display a lack of effort in many games. He quit on plays. He gave up on routes and did not try to stop interceptions. He was great when the ball was coming his way regularly, but unfortunately the Bills did not focus on getting him the ball early in the season and he seemed to just mail it in a lot of the time, especially when Trent was QB. The "lack of effort" thing is not something made up by the TO haters. The Bills did not make TO feel as though he was a prioirty in the offense and subsequently, he sulked for a good number of plays each game. Go back and watch the tapes. -
Bills' Rbs could be in for a big year
Maddog69 replied to C.Biscuit97's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The problem is that Trent wouldn't even throw the deep (or even medium) passes when they were open. His primary/only option is the dump off. It is generally meant as a second or third option. For Trent it is the one and only option. Unless there is a marked difference in his play under Gailey, I have no interest in ever seeing him under center for the Bills again -
Interesting Comparison Of TE to Sanchez and Henne
Maddog69 replied to yungmack's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree. The teams around Henne and Sanchez are far superior to what we've had in Buffalo in many years. That includes players and coaches. That being said, in my opinion a QB needs to be a leader and Trent is not. It remains to be seen if that develops in him if he starts to have success, but to this point it hasn't been there. Sanchez seems to have it. Not sure about Henne. I personally don't think much of him. We'll have to wait and see what happens with the battle for the Bills starting QB job and also to see how Henne and Sanchez progess in their careers. But basing any opinion strictly on their stats so far is completely faulty logic. Keep in mind, none of them have yet to surpass JP's stats from '06. Go Bills. -
Losman Looking Good in Seattle
Maddog69 replied to Gabe Northern's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The bolded part of your post is simply not true. You listed his game logs from 2006. Do the math. More than 80% of his completions were 20yds or less. He did not drop back and heave Hail Marys every down. He was decent at the intermediate passing game. Where he was poor was decision making under pressure and the short passing game. That used to drive me nuts. He had a open WR or back 3yds away and would hit them in the feet. If he were coached properly and utilized for his strengths, I think he could have been a serviceable NFL starter for the Bills. But we never had a consistent, cohesive, intelligent offense and JP floundered. I wish him well in Seattle and I hope the Bills can finally find their answer at QB. I have my fingers crossed for Brohm becasue I have no faith in Trent or Fitz being the answer. Go Bills. -
Awesome post. And I love the Avatar.
-
Sadly, most of the QBs on your list are as good or better than Trent or Fitz. (Still don;t know enough about Brohm or Brown to rank them).
-
The QBs we have on the roster suck. The Bills have missed the playoffs for a decade. Yes, I'd say we are desperate.
-
I'd love to see Troy Smith added to the QB mix. He's got some skills. Let them fight it out and see who emerges.

Losman Looking Good in Seattle
Maddog69 replied to Gabe Northern's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe we should trade Edwards and Lynch to Seattle for this Losman guy. He sounds better than anyone we have now. -
Nice visual. That is funny.

"At this point I don't think I'm going to play," Schobel told The Buffalo News on Thursday. "I'm not ready to say I'm retiring but it's in the Bills' hands." Sounds like Aaron wants to be traded without publically forcing a trade. At this point, who cares? See if you can trade him to a team close to his home (Dallas, Houston, KC or Tenn. If not release him and let him do what he wants. He is a decent guy and has done enough for the team that he deserves some respect. Let him play elsewhere if he wants to.

Re: Jim Kelly's California QB theory debunked
Maddog69 replied to USABuffaloFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have 3 comments 1.) This was not a theory by Jim Kelly. It was an opinion. 2.) Tim Graham is a whiny, arrogant doucebag. I've had this opinion of him ever since I read his first comment on this board but I generally kept it to myself because everone was kissing his butt for gracing us with his prescence eventhough he never brought any real insight or anything of substance other than his arrogance. 3.) I am glad Tim is no longer posting here and I am happy we still have John Wawrow. John is intelligent, insightful and is not afraid to get into a debate with someone who disagrees with him instead of crying about it and leaving. -
Bills would vote against NY Super Bowl
Maddog69 replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I personally agree. The weather element is one of the things I enjoy most about football vs other sports. It doesn't matter what the weather is doing (within reason), the game goes on. Some of the most memorable games have been in disastrously bad weather. I think it would be great to see a game with snow. I think the Superbowl locatioin should simply rotate amongst the 32 teams. Every NFL city should get a chance to host the big game so they could show off their city on national TV and reap the benefits of the supposed financial windfall from hosting it. Why should that benefit be reserved for Florida and California teams (for the most part). I know it is a corporate schmoozefest and I know that the weather would potentially cause trouble with their annual Halftime shows featuring some washed up Rocker or Motown act, but I still think rotating the game amongst all of the NFL cities would be great. -
I must have missed the part where Schefter says that the trade is dead.
-
Best post I have ever seen on this board. I agree 100%. And btw, JP still has his house in Buffalo. I know for a fact that he was in town last week and flew from Buffalo to Seattle on Sunday. I wish him well in Seattle or wherever else he ends up.

Might there be some Uni # issues with 2 top picks?
Maddog69 replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
At the rate Ralph speaks, it would probably take him a year to convince anybody to do anything. -
That is a pretty sad statement about the QBs on our roster.
-
Brown will probably be on the practice squad in 2010. Just my guess. But then again, they probably won't want to pay 2 QBs $2m each, especially to be #2 and #3. So if Trent is the starter, they could keep Fitz or Brohm as backup and cut the other, with Brown as the #3. Same if Fitz or Brohm are starter, Trent becomes backup, Brown #3. It will be interesting to see how it shakes out. I think that if they don't keep all 4 guys somehow, it will give ammunition to the "Ralph is a cheap SOB" crowd.

I completely agree with Darth with regard to Edwards. Trent is not good. So many posters make the "hopefully he can get back to how he played his first few games point". Which is completely inaccurate. He is the same. The only difference is that the expectations increased when Trent became the starter and he could not live up to them. He initially came in and completed a ton of short passes and just looked more competent than JP. But he was not throwing downfield, scoring points, orchestrating effective drives and/or winning games. Trent is soft. He does get injured too often and he does not seem to have the charisma that most good starting QBs have. He is not a leader. He would make a great backup, because he is smart and does not take chances. He can come in and finish out a game and he can start a game or two somewhat effectively, but he does not have the skills or personality to be a franchise QB.

Gaither - How many wins is he worth?
Maddog69 replied to Coach55's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
With Ed Reed being banged up and their need at CB, maybe they would be interested in Whitner. He could fillin for Reed early in the year and add depth to the defensive backfield. They get what they need, we get what we need. it seems far. Maybe some exchange of picks involved as well. -
watch the Bills trade our #1 pick next year for Gaither and then go out and finish 2-14 and get the 1st overall pick.
-
Wrong. He took a $25k investment and watched its value rise to nearly a Billion dollars all while taking multimillion dollar salaries every year for being Team President (along with handome salaries for his wife and daughters. Not to mention the multi-million dollars in operating income he has made year after year in Buffalo while all the time crying poor. The Bills are one of the more profitable teams in the NFL but he craftily hides that behind the B.S. he spews about the bad economy and low ticket pricing. The man is making a killing and peole refuse to see it. I have not once seen documented proof of any other city willing to make him a more profitable offer. He could have sold the team to an owner willing to relocate to LA, but he has never had the chance to actually move the Bills there and maintain ownership, so that wouldn't do him any good. It would be like killing his golden goose. The man is a shrewd businessman and I am glad that the Bills are here and have been for so long, but don't think for a second that Ralph would not have packed up the moving vans if a more lucrative opportunity existed. He has no ties to WNY and does not care about Buffalo one bit. If he did, he would have already put plans in place that would keep the team in Buffalo beyong his lifetime thus rewarding the fanbase which has given him so much. Instead, the crotchety old man spits in our faces every chance he gets.
