THAT is the question... Because I would not trust Modrak to pick out my socks in the morning let alone to pick the next guy I'm going to make a multi-millionaire with a Top 10 Pick...

If Jauron was really a "moran"
KOKBILLS replied to Pine Barrens Mafia's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Honestly, I'm starting to think this is all simply part of the plan...The Bills did not re-sign TO...They did not seem to make any great attempts to address the QB or LT positions this off season...They used the #9 overall Draft pick at arguably their deepest position...It looks like the perfect "lets just bottom out" plan...Not that the Bills are going out and trying to lose, but I think Nix and Gailey understand at this point, it may very well be the best idea... I have VERY little doubt that Gailey is a better Coach than Jauron overall...VERY little...But the truth is this Team was lacking in 3 areas that are virtually impossible to turn around in one year...QB, O-Line, and last but certainly not least toughness...The Bills can't out-physical anyone...And until they get the Roster filled with a bunch of tougher players they are going to continue to get beat up, and they will continue to lose the physical battle...They will continue to lose period actually... Look at the top Picks during the Levy/Jauron era and pick me out a couple physical players...4 NFL Drafts and I come up with 2 guys...Wood and Kyle Williams...That's it...And we wonder why they looked outmatched in the 2nd half of just about every Game?...The Bills...Gailey/Nix...better figure out how to inject some major toughness and physicality in this team over the next year plus or this is going to continue even with a shiny new QB... -
So How Has Drafting Spiller #1 Helped Us?
KOKBILLS replied to FlutieFlake's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think The Bills should have taken an OT at #9 Overall...What I think they should have done, just the same way they should have done it in 2009, was Trade Down and stockpile picks...Then again they probably would have screwed those extra picks up so...whatever... -
It's just excuses...Good God are you not sick of making excuses for this freaking Team? And you're making HUGE assumptions...Cushing I'll give you obviously...We'll see how the rest of his career goes...But Matthews, no way...He has yet to be suspended and if there is any speculation regarding Matthews at this point it's mostly due to Cushing's positive test. Matthews has staunchly denied any illegal use...The Kid is an absolute monster on the field with a pedigree 2nd to none...Are you really surprised he's a great NFL football player? So the Kid was a late bloomer...There's been a million late bloomers who never touched PED's...And other Teams passed too? Did they need Pass Rushers like the Bills? Did they Draft a stiff at #9 that can't sniff the QB? Because The Bills did...
-
How about that #8 overall SS who can't cover a TE?
-
Right...You do know it was over the counter for Cushing, the Defensive Rookie of the Year, and Matthews is KILLING the NFL everywhere he goes...Seriously are you saying you would rather have Maybin over Matthews? Cause Matthews MIGHT get a suspension some day? Did you really just write that? Are you related to Modrak?
-
What in the hell kind of Pro Scouting/Front Office picks Aaron Maybin over Matthews, Cushing, or Okakpo? How is that even possible?
-
Exactly... I'm not saying Locker does not have potential...He does...But he is also going to be a REAL tough evaluation for any NFL Team...I don't think there's a chance in hades he goes Top 5 unless he can pick that Team up and carry them on his back for a few BIG wins this Season...The investment involved in a Top 5, heck even a Top 10 Draft Pick at QB is going to be substantial to say the least. And there are currently too many questions with Locker...The Kid has incredible athletic ability no question...But getting shut down like he did today...At Home as a Sr...I don't know...I realize he's not surrounded by the greatest talent and he was going up against a FAR better team...But one of the QB's he's going up against in the 2011 Draft just took Arkansas to Georgia and came out with a W...I know Arkansas is ranked and Georgia is not, but does anyone think that's because Arkansas has more overall talent than Georgia? Where would Arkansas be without Mallett? He's making a HUGE difference on that Team and it's success...I don't see that yet in Locker and it would scare the hell out of me if I was an NFL GM that REALLY needed a QB...To me he looks more like a guy who will go in the late 1st or early 2nd to a Team that can sit him for a couple years behind a Vet...He's got the rest of this Season to change my opinion though...We'll see...
-
I'm the last guy in the world to blindly back the decisions by this current FO...And no question if ifs and buts were candy and nuts we'd all have a Merry Christmas...But I do think that, purely as a talent evaluator, Nix is pretty smart, proven, and savvy... So lets just say that by the start of next Season the Bills have Ryan Mallett at QB, and a healthy Jared Gaither to play one of the OT Positions...Would you still rather have Clausen and Bulaga or Davis then? Cause I wouldn't...Especially based on what I've seen so far from those 3...Granted it's WAY too early to judge...But Bulaga can't crack an O-Line, even at OG, that gave up a TON of Sacks last year on a Team tha assumed he would grab a Starting job the minute he hit his 1st mini camp...Davis looked pretty rough his 1st Game...And admittedly I've never been a Jimmy Clausen Fan, but 21/42 - 231yds - 0 TD 2 INT - in 3 pre season games did little to change my mind so far...So I think at least for now, it's impossible to judge the Bills and Nix on their decision thus far...I don't want to wait either...And nobody around here really wants to lose...that would make you a loser by definition...But we have to see how this whole thing shakes out after next off season and Draft...If they are still hurting at QB and O-Line buy this time next year then yes...they deserve every bit of criticism they get, and then some...

Boy Scout or not (and I'm FAR from a Fan of purely Boy Scout-ish players), I'm not basing my opinion on anything other than the Play on the Field. And it is definitely my opinion that Fred Jackson is a better RB overall than Marshawn Lynch...Not that I think Marshawn is a bad RB, and it's not a knock against Marshawn necessarily...Freddie is pretty darn good...It's awfully tough to judge either behind this O-Line anyway...Honestly, Marshawn has the better athletic ability, but I think in the area of pure knack and instincts it's not even close...At times Marshawn does FAR too much juking instead of hitting the hole and getting what he can...I also think Freddie is a better receiver out of the backfield because Marshawn seems to drop a lot more passes. That may just be my perception...I don't know...True Marshawn's TD Ratio is better, but Freddy averages over a half a yard better a carry and over a yard better per catch for his career... As far as regretting Trading Lynch, sure that's a possibility...But it's still no reason to carry 3 RB's that could start for more than a few Teams in the NFL...Some folks think it does not matter, but do you think Marshawn or Freddie are happy about the current situation? Touching the Ball 3-5 times a Game? It's tough to get into any kind of rhythm...One of these guys HAS to go and obviously Marshawn should have the bigger Trade value...I'm not certain if the Bills are just being stubborn or stupid, but this thing has to happen and the sooner the better...
-
Agreed... And just to be clear about it I don't think Lynch is a waste, nor do I think the Bills should have cut him...But I do understand if someone has that feeling...There are reasons I guess... When the Bills Drafted Spiller I was none-to-happy, but I thought they would move Lynch and everything would be OK...This 3 RB's deal is a joke and I'm not sure what the Bills are up to...Maybe they have gotten enough decent offers for Lynch that they are simply convinced eventually they'll get ever more...I don't know...But I do know he's got to go...Freddie and CJ will do just fine...Well...At least some day they will...
-
I gotta say Freddie is my favorite Buffalo Bill right now by far...Maybe I'm ignoring Sully's rants a bit due to the fact he was sticking up for Jackson and when Jeremy said Sully always overvalues Jackson I about lost it myself... How the hell do you "overvalue" a guy like Fred Jackson? Is it even possible?
-
Well, Simon said he agreed with Sully's overall take on things so I'm not sure what you mean by "basically be right about it." I don't always agree with Sully...But I think he's 100% right about the RB situation...I also think he's 100% right about Fred Jackson and Jeremy is wrong...Fred Jackson may have come from nowhere and it's easy to undervalue him, but he has that certain something...He may not have the overall athletic ability or breakaway speed of some, but he's got incredible vision and instincts...He has a knack for finding the hole and turning nothing into something...He won't show up on every highlight reel...But he's as solid as a rock...And I bet there are a TON of NFL Teams that would LOVE to have Fred Jackson... As far as cutting Marshawn goes, no question I think he's wrong there...But that's his opinion...Sully thinks Marshawn is a waste...He's entitled to that opinion right or wrong...He's not the only one with that opinion either... Like I said I don't always agree with Sully but in this case I don't think he's too far off...
-
I'm more of a Mallett guy right now, but we'll see how the whole thing shakes out...I'm not sure the Bills could go wrong with Locker, Mallett, or Andrew Luck...Though I think Luck will stay another year...We'll see...It's the only, and I mean ONLY good thing about watching the Bills struggle...The thought they might get one of these guys...
-
That was pretty funny... I am a bit confused why you signed off with an Amen...I thought it was a plea not a prayer...But nonetheless solid work... Not that there's anything wrong with it...
-
That was some pretty surprising info you gave out about the Fans Choice Poll...I had no idea...I consider myself as big a Bills fan as just about anyone, but I gotta say, that looks like some form of Intraweb Ballot Box stuffing...I like it!!! Anyway...Keep up the good work...Somebody has to write something positive about The Bills nowadays...That Poll is about as good as it get right now...

Bills playing Hardball with Packers re: Lynch trade
KOKBILLS replied to DaveinElma's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hawk is a starting ILB when the Pack is in their base package. He comes off the field when they go to Nickel...They played Nickel or Dime the entire Philly game. His HC, D Coordinator, and Position Coach still refer to him as a starter...This whole "Hawk is not a starter" thing is 100% message board/blog created because the Packers have explained it already and stated Hawk is still a starter...GB Head Coach Mike McCarthy said it best...“I will not apologize for having more than 11 good defensive football players on our team." The GB Defense at LB is a million times deeper in REAL talent than the Bills...So even if Hawk is not a starter in GB is still does not mean he would not be a HUGE upgrade here... Now...The Packers know the Bills want to run the ball so IF Hawk is not on the field for the 1st play this Sunday then maybe he's not the Starter any longer or a trade is in the works...But right now to say Hawk does not start is technically incorrect...The correct statement would be Hawk did not start vs Philly in week #1... Just saying... -
I don't disagree with you on principle...It's impossible to disagree...The problem comes with who and what was available this past off-season in the areas of concern, OT and QB...Outside of Sam Bradford, the only other Starting caliber QB's available were Donovan McNabb, Jason Campbell, and Derek Anderson...It's easy to assume McNabb wanted nothing to do with The Bills...He's only got a couple years left and he wants to win now...I'm not sure Anderson or Campbell are all that much better than what the Bills have right now...Maybe they are but it's understandable if the Bills were not interested. So who else? Tebow? Clausen? I still think the Bills wanted Tebow pretty bad and were just out maneuvered by the Broncos...I don't think they wanted anything to do with Clausen whatsoever, so the Jury is still out on that one... There were some Vet OT's available..The name that comes to mind most notably is Jammal Brown who went to the Skins for a conditional 3rd or 4th...Of coarse maybe the Bills can still put something together for Chargers OT Marcus McNeill who would seemingly be the best "available" Vet OT at this point...There were tons of rumors about Raven OT Jarad Gaither who would have been a HUGE upgrade...But Gaither is still out with the back injury and who knows when he'll be able to play this Season...Most of the rest of the OT's available in Free Agency or Trade were average guys at best...You saw what Alex Barron did Sunday night...As far as the Draft was concerned it really came down to 2 guys at #9 because I don't think there was any way The Bills were going to be able to get up ahead of Washington or Seattle to get Trent Williams or Russell Okung...So it was going to be Davis or Bryan Bulaga...Bulaga can't crack the Starting lineup at G or T for a Packs O-Line that has been much maligned, and Davis is having a REAL rough start in SF...The Bills obviously did not want either of them at #9 overall... So while I agree with the premise that the Bills needed to address the QB and OT positions I think the idea was they were not going to be overly aggressive because they had holes all over the place and QB and OT were only two of those holes...They were going to stick with their plan and see what fell out...I was not a fan of the Spiller Pick as long as the Bills insisted on keeping Lynch...I just thinks it's stupid...But nonetheless Spiller is obviously going to be a major building block for this team going forward...The Bills needed a traditional 3-4 NT and it looks like Troupe will be solid there...It's hard to argue with the Carrington Pick because in time he may be the best of this lot...And so on, and so on... So while there is no question The Bills better do something about the QB and OT positions if they ever want to be contenders again, I think this off season was more designed to fill as many hole as possible so it's easier to be agressive in 2011...I know that's not what any Bills fan wants to here when the prospects are possibly a 4-12 Season...But it is what it is...

I want The Pats to win no question... The thought of The Jets starting the Season 0-2 at Home gives me goose bumps... I think Fatasaurus Rex might just keel over if that happens... One can wish...

Interesting Rumor on BB.com Message Board
KOKBILLS replied to coastalpika's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I certainly don't want to be the lone guy banging the drum for AJ Hawk around here...I'm not looking to campaign for him, I'm a Michigan Fan... But I think the misinformation and the lack of understanding on the part of some Bills fans concerning this Hawk thing is pretty laughable...I have no idea if AJ Hawk is going to be traded...What I do have a pretty good idea about is the fact that Hawk is probably better than anything we've got right now...And that includes Poz...If the argument is about money (even though I'm sure the Pack would have to be on the hook for most of what he's owed if a Trade went down), or whether or not Hawk is a fit for the 3-4 then I'm all ears...But to me, sitting here and saying a guy like AJ Hawk is a bust or cannot play, especially for this Buffalo Bills Team, is laughable... “I would think A.J. is probably having his best camp in his time here,” McCarthy said on Aug. 10. “I’ve liked his approach. His conditioning is at the highest level. He’s always been a highly conditioned athlete, and I think he’s taken it to another level this year, and I think he’s been very productive out here. He’s put together some big plays, and I thought he definitely stood out in the scrimmage.” From PackersNews.com Forum earlier this year...It seems some Packers Fans think Hawk is pretty good...Or not bad at least... "Your the type of guy that just sits around and repeats what he hears random media members blab about. Since you have all of this football knowledge tell me three occasions this year where AJ was beat in coverage just flat out beat. Coming from someone who has watched every snap at least 3 times all I seen was A.J. perform jack backer roles perfect not to mention a great pick against Baltimore while covering the seam in what was an obvious mismatch of size and speed. Got to love the way he stayed at home and allowed the guys up front to force Hasselback to put one right in his numbers there at Lambeau in week 16. One game that stands out to me was when Chillar got ate alive against the Vikes at that horrible place they call a football facility. I think Chillar is a stout player in any defensive set especially against an 11 or 20 personnel but for you guys to think that A.J. is so bad in coverage just shows your ability to repeat what is reported through this website and others. Why dont you actually try to watch some game film instead of focusing on what the announcers pretend to know about." The point here is opinions are like...well you know...The facts are Hawk is a former #5 Overall Pick who's ready to play every Game, even when he's banged up...And he would immediately upgrade the Bills at LB...For God's sake we're starting Keith freaking Ellison this week...I'm not saying Hawk is great, I'm not saying he was worth #5 overall, I'm not saying he's a 3 Down LB, and I'm not saying he's worth what is left on his deal...I am saying he's a HUGE upgrade from what this Team has right now...He's going to come in hungry and we may be able to get him for our 3rd string RB (I can't even comment on the protection vs injury thing...I just don't understand that type of thinking)... I'm just saying, if the money part can be worked out this should be a no-brainer for The Buffalo Bills...For another team maybe not-so-much...But for The Bills? The Keith Ellison is starting Buffalo Bills???...Anyway... True, but I still think Poz has better hair...so they got that going for them at very least... -

Oh no question about the Contract part Bro...Something would have to be worked out there...But you know...Where there's a will there's a way...I think GB would be stuck with most of that cash owed...No one else is going to pay Hawk that kind of money... -
Interesting Rumor on BB.com Message Board
KOKBILLS replied to coastalpika's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Honestly...When the Bills are getting next to nothing out of him and he's 3rd on the depth Chart, what does it really matter?...The same way Hawk would likely be MUCH more productive in Buffalo, I'm sure Lynch would do the same in GB...He'll get a TON more opportunity...But here he's stuck behind Jackson and Spiller...And rightfully so...The idea of holding onto Lynch at this point, for whatever reason, pretty much proves why the Bills are bottom feeders...They just don't get it...
