  1. SD Chargers 4th Round Picks from 2001-2008 2001 - Carlos Polk -LB - Nebraska 2002 - Justin Peelle - TE - Oregon 2003 - Matt Wilhelm - LB - Ohio State 2004 - Shaun Phillips - LB - Purdue 2005 - Darren Sproles - RB - Kansas State 2006 - No 4th Round Pick 2007 - Scott Chandler - TE - Iowa - with the Cowboys now, on the active roster 2008 - No 4th round Pick I'm not the biggest Nix Fan in the world...But..Just saying...
  2. I know Rich...I know far too well about Harris...I can promise if you look back in the archives I was PRAYING The Bills would take Harris in the 2nd Round...Of coarse a big part of that was being a Michigan Fan...And then the Bills go out and take the slower less physical Kid from Penn St...lol...There were plenty of Scouts who had Harris rated ahead of Poz...Yet another example of Levy and Jauron out-thinking themselves...
  3. Agreed...No way The Bills scrap the 3-4 when they spent the past off-season making moves, and more importantly Drafting players to switch to the 3-4... Get over it Folks...This Season is a throw-away...The Bills suck and the bright-side is it's only 12 more Games until the Off Season...Quit looking for things that "in your opinion" are going to make this Team better because they wont...There is no getting better...At least not much better...They'll start getting better next year... Well...Maybe they will...
  4. Fair enough...But at this time last year there were plenty of Scouts and Folks right here who said Sam Bradford was not tough enough to play a single Down in the NFL...There were all kinds of Folks saying they would not Draft him and I had serious doubts about his toughness myself...I was wrong, and so were they...It's early in the process...Sit back, relax, and let it all play out...One of these Kids could be the next Jim Kelly for this Franchise if given the opportunity...To say the Bills should not Draft a QB in the 1st Round at this point, given what they have on this Roster, is premature at the very least...
  5. What? We got Yao Ming? When?
  6. This is the type of over-generalization I've come to love about some Posters on TSW... Cause after all it's just a Mob mentality around here. Always has been...And as RJD sang so intuitively those many years ago..."The Mob Rules!"
  7. Actually I'm still laughing at the "unvinceable" part... But grats to your Jets...Good luck...Peace...
  8. They were not good enough to be kept as Vet Back-ups on their old Teams so... Agreed...
  9. In that aspect sure...But in many others ways, including the size of his hands, Fitz comes up WAY short...He does the best he can with what he has...He's a good back-up which is better than I though he was going into this Season...But that's about it... I see a few Folks getting a little carried away with what we have here now thinking this or that is OK...For the most part, it's not...It is what it is...Lets not get carried away...The Bills have maybe 10-15 Players that would be starting on other Teams...That's it, if that!!!...It's the cold hard truth...Fitz is a back-up...That's it...Lets be real...
  10. I'm going to assume the Bills will stick with Nix and Gailey...I just doubt Ralph will do much about that...I'd like to see Whaley get even more responsibility this Off Season... Modrak has to go...Nix or Whaley need to get their own Guy in that Position...It's a must...It has to happen...The whole Scouting Dept has to be looked at...Pro Player Dept as well...Top to bottom...They need to re-double efforts in these areas...Triple efforts in these areas...The Bills have been WAY behind the rest of the NFL in these areas since JB and AJ Smith left town...The list is a mile long...McGahee, Kelsay, Losman, Tim Anderson, Parrish (Vincent Jackson went 6 picks later), Whitner, McCargo, Youboty, Edwards, McKelvin (ahead of Rodgers-Cromartie), Hardy, and Maybin...Those names are 1st-3rd Round Picks since 2003 that are either gone (5 including 2 QB's!!!), not Starters (4), or Starters performing WAY below the organizations expectations (Whitner and Kelsay)... That record is SO brutal it's almost impossible to imagine...They have to get back into the business of finding quality football players...Period...It's not a quick fix and it's not going to show up in wins and losses over night...But it can happen quickly...There are plenty of examples in recent NFL history (KC, Miami, New Orleans, etc)... The Bills need to Trade Marshawn Lynch and get a Pick for him... They need to get a Young QB and build around him...We'll see who that guy is going to be soon enough...But whoever it is, they need to get it right this time... Build the O-Line and continue to build the Defensive Front seven. Get more physical, and for God's sake Draft some tough guys... Build this Team around Buffalo NY!!! Run, stop the run, and beat the living crap out of opponents when the weather goes bad...Break the will of these teams...Stop trying to be cute and be a physical...Build a tough, hard nosed, blue-collar Football Team... Don't suck...
  11. I'm certainly not the biggest Lil' Donte Fan, but I agree with your take 100%...It's close to the same point I made about Maybin a couple days ago...This Scouting Department, and the old FO, put a guy like Donte in an impossible situation. He's just not that good...Put him on a Defense like Baltimore's and he would be OK I guess...Not great by any means...But serviceable...But in Buffalo, where he's asked to be outstanding based on where he was picked, his deficiencies are magnified 1000 times over. And he should never have been put in that place...Period...The Bills were looking for the next Ed Reed and what they got was a guy who would turn out to be be a 3rd or 4th-Round type value... Whitner's proud...I'm sure he still feels he's a Top 10-type talent...And he seems to care enough and be a good teammate...It's the Bills fault they put Lil' Donte in this position where failure, based on his talent level and where he was Drafted, was unavoidable...Thanks Marv...
  12. I was thinking the same thing the other day...I swear I know it's coming...It's going to take a hell of a sales job, and I don't think Gailey and Nix are up to the task to be honest...We'll see... That's not necessarily true...Plenty of Scouts had McKinnie ahead of Williams...Plus it was basically consensus that Williams was likely going to have to play RT in the NFL...I know I wanted McKinnie...Not that I thought Williams would be a bust...I just thought McKinnie would be better and he's a LT...
  13. It's impossible for me to put into words how much I disagree with that statement...I think you're WAY underestimating Mallett's potential...He's only a Jr. He's gotten better every year...I think when you look at the way Alabama is throttling Florida tonight it's a testament to how good Mallett has become (the way he played vs. Alabama's D at times last week)...I don't think Mallett is a finished product by any means...And he certainly has his limitations as a scrambler...But in the end I think he's every bit as good a Prospect as say...Joe Flacco...And Flacco is a million time better than anything we've seen in Buffalo for a while now...I don't think there is any way the Bills would pass on Mallett if they get a chance to draft him in 2011...Unless Luck is available of coarse...And even then I'm sure there will be a discussion...I'm not saying Mallett is the next coming either...I'm just saying he's a better Pro Prospect than Locker, and The Bills are going to consider him intensely...
  14. We definitely could use some at this point...
  15. I think the possibility of a Trade is interesting already and we have no clue who is going to be there and where the Bills will Pick...And who knows? Maybe Mallett (or if it's Luck) decides he wants nothing to do with Buffalo (see Eli Manning and John Elway...This stuff does happen). Maybe a Trade is forced...No question a Franchise QB Prospect can bring a bounty in return...And the Bills need as many Picks as they can get...It's an intriguing thought already... Still...Passing on a guy with an arm like Mallett has when you play in WNY is going to be awfully hard...And God forbid you pass on him and he becomes the next big thing while the Bills continue to Draft the way they have over the past few years...That's a recipe for another 10 years of losing Football right there...
  16. Ryan Mallett, like it or not, is going to get serious consideration for the #1 overall Pick...He is almost assured to go in the Top 5...Keep in mind he's only a Jr. and he has definitely gotten better every year...Granted Brian Brohm was once considered a potential high 1st Round Pick...But he ended up being a 2nd Round Draft Pick that could not beat out a 7th Round Pick to be the back-up in GB...Now...Maybe Brohm will turn out to be a good NFL QB...It's still possible...But at this point, when you're talking about purely potential, there is no comparison between Mallett and Brohm...And until Mallett comes into the NFL and underachieves the way Brohm has (up to this point) that's going to stay the same... Mallett clearly has the stronger arm and is a bigger dude...Both are being Coached in the same College system, the difference is Mallett is going up against superior competition...I don't think either one is a great scrambler, but I guess Brohm would get the edge there...It's still early, but Mallett is projected to throw 30 TD's and complete almost 69% of his passes...If that happens he ends up with a slightly better Season than Brohms Sr Year...But only slightly... So I guess the answer to your question is that at this point there is really no telling if Mallett is better than Brohm or not...But if The Bills have a chance to draft Mallett they better be 150% sure Brohm is better should they decide to pass...Cause they simply can't afford to be wrong on this one...
  17. And that's why you're posting on a message board and not Scouting in the NFL... And I'm not saying any of these 2011 QB's is the next great thing...But to say you would take Fitz or Brohm over any of them is ridiculous...Well...At least to say you would take Fitz is ridiculous, I'll give a semi-pass on Brohm only because no one really has any idea if he can play or not...The question for the Bills is going to be whether or not they take a top OT or Pass Rusher ahead of these QB's...Not if they prefer Fitz or Brohm necessarily...Cause chances are they won't...
  18. 3.) He has a high motor...
  19. Exactly... Bring in better players or this thing is just going to keep getting worse...Or stay the same... Same difference I guess...
  20. Well the only understanding I have is the Contract should have never been done...Even for the Vet minimum...And I'm dead serious about that...Kelsay does not fit a 3-4, and he was average at best as a 4-3 DE...This Team needs to move on from the Kelsay's (and the Whitner's, and the...) and add Players who can truly play...Period...And that is with all due respect to Kelsay as a Teammate and good guy which I recognize is true...Still does not matter to me...IMHO He should not be on the Team now...This is a team in full re-build mode...They need to get the young guys work... My only misunderstanding of this contract is why it was done in the first place...
  21. Dude seriously...How long have you been around here? You honestly think Folks on this site don't understand how NFL Contracts work? If you ever intend to have your side considered you gotta stop insulting the collective intelligence around here..Cause there may be a few meat-heads, but by and large there are some VERY knowledgeable NFL Fans on this Board who most definitely understand the ins and outs of Contracts, the Cap, etc... We understand...We still think it was a dumb Deal by a Team that seemingly is trying to set some kind of record for poor decisions... So what else do we not understand about the NFL and it's inner workings?
  22. Honestly...It's really not Maybin's fault The Bills and Jauron GREATLY overestimated his abilities and upside...Mike Mayock felt Maybin was a borderline 1st Round Prospect and the Bills Drafted him at #11 Overall...Mayock had Maybin behind Aaron Curry, Brian Orakpo, Brian Cushing, Clay Matthews, and Larry English...The Bills Drafted Maybin ahead of all those Players except Curry...MM constantly questioned whether or not Maybin could sustain 250 lbs and stand up vs the Run in the NFL...He did segments specifically about Maybin's weaknesses leading up to the Draft...He was right...In fact, outside of Todd McShay(who btw is being bashed pretty hard now by NFL insiders who are slowly coming out of the woodwork to call him a complete hack), most evaluators had at least Curry, Cushing and Orakpo ahead of Maybin...And even McShay had Orakpo going ahead of Maybin in his 4/21/2009 Mock Draft... So no matter what Maybin says or does this is the fault of those Scouts, Coaches and Front Office geniuses who thought they were smarter and more instictive than everybody else...Maybin was a reach at #11 on just about everyone's Board, but especially those who I really admire, like Mayock, as Scouts...It was a bad Pick that was made FAR worse by the success of those at the same Position who were picked after Maybin...So blame The Bills on this one...
  23. Look your campaign for Kelsay is duly noted...How many Posts now? But any logic in your argument is trumped by the dollar amount they are going to pay for a guy you admit is not very good...This is the type of decision that has got the Bills EXACTLY where they are and that's at the bottom of the NFL...It is indisputable that based on production Kelsay HAS to be among the most overpaid players at his position in the NFL...It makes even less sense for a Team that is clearly rebuilding and needs to get younger players more PT...Kelsay is going to take Reps away from Ellis, Maybin, and other younger players down the road, and that's just stupid for a Team in full rebuild mode... This was a poor decision...But poor decisions are something the Bills have just about cornered the market on over the past decade...It's no surprise...But it's still dumb... I'd also like to add that your assumption that those who think this deal is pure stupidity don't understand "the bigger picture" is a bit arrogant to say the least...Especially considering it can be easily assumed this team is rebuilding, and signing a Vet LB for $6 mil per year is not exactly in tune with "the bigger picture..."
