Great analysis! Bledsoe as a Jr. at Washington St... 241-432 (55.8%), 3246 Yards, 20 TD's, 15 INT's, 127.2 QB Rating... Mallett as a Jr. in the SEC SO FAR... 193-289 (66.8 %), 2752 Yards, 18 TD's, 8 INT's, 162.93 QB Rating... Just because they are both tall and don't run like Mike Vick does not make them the same QB...

Well I doubt he would be a goner...But having Clausen certainly won't stop the new regime from Picking a QB high if that's what they want to do...
-
We'll see...It's WAY too early to assume that, especially if you've actually watched Mallett play...The questions with Mallett are mostly off the field and in the Film room...And none of those questions have been proven yet...Based on the way he plays, if Mallett interviewed well and had the reputation that Luck has, it would be a heck of a battle between the 2 of them for #1 Overall...And it still may turn out to be...So let's wait and see what happens...I see a lot of folks assuming Mallett is stupid, or a pot head, or a meth head, blah, blah, blah...But on most Saturdays the Kid goes out and puts up big numbers against SEC competition and makes it look pretty easy...His arm is made for Buffalo winters...So I would not be so quick to write him off as a potential #1 or #2 Overall just yet...

Fitz was not the problem today? Well maybe, maybe not...But the REAL question HAS to be whether or not Fitz is the ANSWER long-term if you're talking about the #1 overall Pick...Of coarse that's assuming Luck and Mallett are coming out...That's the #1 Overall Pick...You simply cannot Pass on a QB worthy of the #1 Pick when Ryan Fitzpatrick is your Starting QB...If Luck or Mallett go on to excel in the NFL and The Bills pass on BOTH of them...Oh man that's going to sting...Especially if this turns out to be Fitz's career year... And Fitz may not have been the problem today, but that INT with 9 mins left and a 5 point lead sure as hell did not help...I mean...On the surface I don't necessarily disagee with you...The Bills have bigger problems than Fitz true enough...But what you HAVE to ask yourself is the same thing Buddy Nix and Chan Gaily are going to ask themselves this coming April...If Fitz can look this good in this Offense how much better will Luck or Mallett be in the same Offense... This Team is looking for a new face to build behind...I promise everyone on this board the Bills don't pass on Luck at #1 Overall...It's not going to happen...Mallett maybe, but I doubt it...Every time that Kid throws the Ball Gailey probably gets goosebumps...Watch both Stanford and Arkansas...Watch the way those 2 inspire their teammates...Those two Schools are not necessarily NCAA Football powerhouses...The Bills will be looking for that kind of spark at QB IF they have the #1 Pick and IF one of those two comes out...I've been wrong plenty of times before, but I don't think there is any possible way the Bills are going to choose Fitz over either of those two young QB's...And if they do, they deserve what they get...

I'm REALLY confused by some of the stuff I read about Fitz on this Board...So if you say you don't think Fitz is a Franchise QB you know nothing about Football now? Okey doke...Once again I see folks taking things to the extreme here when in actuality the answers are somewhere in the middle... All the Fitz love in the world is not going to change the fact that The Bills WILL Draft Luck, and probably Mallett too, if they get the chance...I'm telling Y'all you can pretty much take that to the bank...Beyond that, if for some reason those 2 go before Buffalo picks, The Bills will more than likely Draft a QB within the 1st 3 rounds in the 2011 Draft regardless of what Fitz does or has done...It will be the smart thing to do by the way... Fitz is definitely doing a decent job...MUCH better that than I thought he would...Still he has physical limitations...The Bills are looking to put a new face on this Franchise and it will not be Ryan Fitzpatrick...At least not long-term it wont...That does not mean Fitz sucks or anything of the sort...I think it's pretty obvious Fitz has more than earned the right to be here and mentor whatever Kid they bring in...Chances are no matter who The Bills Draft Fitz will be the starting QB the first Game of the 2011 Season...Still, that does not mean they're passing on Luck if he comes out...There's no way that's going to happen...

Talk about finding ways to lose... The Football Gods are doing all they can to assure that #1 Pick...The way this Season is going The Bills will Score to tie it up...only to lose in OT... Well they like to keep it exciting at least...

God, does this team need some Luck.

Same here... Honestly watching these 2 I don't see how The Bills could go wrong with either...Mallett's arm is ridiculous though...And I know Mallett takes a lot of flack for being immobile, but I think he's shown the ability to move around in the pocket just enough vs. SC's Pass Rush... I'm not saying he has the same ability, but for whatever reason Luck reminds me of Peyton Manning...Maybe it's his footwork, I'm not sure... I swear I don't care...just get one of them...It's glaringly obvious these 2 elevate the Play of their teammates...I'm not saying either is going to be the next Manning cause let's face it, it's a crap shoot no matter what...But it will give The Bills an excitement from a Player coming in they have not had since #12...And right now that's PLENTY enough for me... -
Amen to that!

This thread needs some sanity... OK...The Bills had first crack at this Kid and they passed...Some things are immediately obvious...The Bills probably did not have a Draft-able Grade on him...OR their sources from Pittsburgh came up with something most folks don't know...Something pretty negative...He's a Rookie so IF the Bills thought highly of him seeing his name on the waiver wire should have resulted in Gibson being picked up in a half-a-heartbeat...Especially for a Team needing a Pass Rushing OLB as bad as the Bills do...Now we'll see how Gibson does from here...Clearly, by not bringing him in for a look-see, the Bills have made the statement they prefer Moats and Coleman to Gibson...It's another mark on the decision record of Buddy Nix...We'll see if it's a negative or positive mark... I certainly would not get too excited over this...At least not just yet...The move would have forced the Bills to release someone, and I understand that can get sticky too...But if Gibson is harassing QB's around the NFL a year or two from now as an OLB in a 3-4...This is not going to look too good...The Bills had a free crack at him and passed...Now we'll see how that pans out...But realistically the chances of this Kid turning into a solid NFL Player are not great...So in the meantime I'll assume the Bills did there due diligence and simply passed because he's not good enough...

No way... Patulski had 21.5 sacks in 4 years then The Bills got a 2nd round Pick for him from St Louis...Maybin has 23 Total Tackles in a year and a half and ZERO sacks...Patulski had 7 Sacks his 1st Season...Plus I'm pretty sure the Bills got Joe Devlin for that 2nd Round Pick...Maybin would not get a Conditional 7th Rounder after 4 Years the way he's going...There was at least good reason to Draft Putulski at #1 Overall at the time...He was a hell of a College Player...Maybin was a bit of a stretch at #11... Maybin has 2 more years to make up lost ground...But at this point he's 100 times the bust Putulski was...

OK I think I can help out here...I'm pretty sure this is the way it goes cause this is the way Marv had it, and the way he set it up when he came here... First and foremost no Player is considered unless they have a Grade that matches up favorably with where they are Picking...In this case, and in most cases, there are more than one Player with similar Grades...I think they like to get it down to 2-3 Players when they get on the clock...Then the debate begins...So just for the sake of argument lets say the Bills have Maybin, Orakpo, and Cushing with similar Grades, and now they are looking at one of those 3 (the Bills all but told the world they wanted to take a Pass Rushing DE/OLB at #11 Overall)...So sometimes there is no argument and the card goes right up (The GM, Head Coach and Scouting Head all agree)...But in this case the Bills really had no GM and if everyone remembers at that time it meant even more power to DJ...Add that to the fact that Marv had set it up so that the HC ALWAYS breaks a tie and it does not really matter if Modrak wanted Cush...If Jauron wanted Maybin, then Maybin would be the Pick by design... What should not be lost in this blame game is that Modrak and his Scouts had a Grade that high on Maybin to start with...Cause I'm pretty sure they did or he would have never been considered...Keep in mind that Mike Mayock felt like Maybin was a borderline 1st Rounder but probably more like a 2nd Rounder...Mayock had him tied for 5th at OLB with Larry English (behind Curry, Orakpo, Cushing, and Matthews)...So it cannot be ignored that The Bills brilliant Scouting Staff had Maybin MUCH higher Rated than some...My feeling is if the Scouts do their job 1st and foremost then the door is not open for Dead Dick to walk though and make the ultimate terrible decision...So, IMHO, it's both Modrak AND Jauron that are to blame...

Roscoe got 3 years, $12.31 mil. on his last extension. You really feel he's worth more than that? He's going to be the 3rd or 4th option at WR for this Team assuming Evans, Johnson, and Nelson stay...I realize Roscoe is also a good Punt Returner...But I just don't see giving him much more that $4 million a year, and I definitely don't see why they would do it now...

The minute I saw Namath was on the list it became irrelevant to me...And he was #100...The argument of whether or not Kelly should be on the list is one thing...But to say Joe Namath was a better NFL Player than Jim Kelly, or a few others who were left off, shows where lists like these belong... Ridiculous....

Bigger impact - #1 pick or reversing the culture of losing
KOKBILLS replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
One at a time... #1 Pick 1st then work on reversing the culture when you have better Players... -
Classify this under "Wishful thinking." Or "Denial." Either or... I think it's FAR more likely they both suck...

The Fitzpatrick thread you knew was coming.
KOKBILLS replied to Van_phelaN1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm still trying to figure out why this is a thread I knew was coming... Cause I had no idea...Really I didn't... -
Well it's impossible to look at his College Highlight Tape and think the Kid does not have vision...I think it's a matter of Coaching right now and breaking some instincts that are a bit hard-wired for good reason...CJ's kind of had it easy before he got to the NFL simply because he's so talented and naturally gifted...But it's a different Game now and he has to adjust... I'm not too worried about what I see right now from Spiller...I think he'll be just fine...Whether or not The Bills should have used the #9 Pick on him...well...That's a whole different story...

Probably deserves its own thread
KOKBILLS replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This (to me at least) was the most impressive part of a VERY impressive day by The Bills Offense and Fitz...I don't think Fitz is the long term answer but he is clearly a MUCH better QB than I gave him credit for prior to this Season. And he seems to be getting better...No matter what The Bills plan on doing in the future Fitz has earned the right to be here...And The Bills need to make sure he stays around...I really don't know what I'm going to think if this play continues throughout the 2010 Season and Fitz ends up going to the Pro Bowl while finishing 2nd in QB rating to Manning...But at this point that is getting WAY ahead! We'll see I guess... -
The fans right here are why the Team sucks
KOKBILLS replied to DarthICE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
While I realize some of you still have not become accustomed to what is a typical ICE rant, I really don't see what the difference is between ICE's thoughts and the idiocy surrounding the "Fitz may be the guy," or "We don't need a Franchise QB" talk...I think ICE is FAR more right than wrong...Rant aside...Fitz gives the Bills a luxury...He'll be able to Start if the Rookie comes along slow, and he'll make a heck of a good back-up...Something I thought was up in the air before this year...But in no way, shape or form should the Bills pass on Luck if he comes out, or maybe even Mallett for that matter...No way... Now Folks, and ICE...Let's take a deep breath...The Bills have played 6 Games and they lead the race currently for the #1 Overall Pick...But there are 10 games remaining, and the way they played yesterday would indicate The Bills are going to win a few Games...All they have to do is win maybe 3 Games to take them out of the Top spot. And then if Luck does not come out the chances of getting a QB with a Top 5 Pick go WAY down...While I like Mallett a lot, there are some major questions he's going to have to answer before he's a sure-fire Top 3 Pick...And I doubt very much Locker will be in the conversation for a high 1st Round Pick...So realistically, even with the top Pick in the 2011 Draft there is no guarantee The Bills get a QB of the future...So I do think a lot of this talk is WAY premature... But again, if The Bills have the chance to Draft Luck it's an absolute no-brainer...I don't care if Fitzy Passes for 40 TD's this Year...No way this Franchise Passes on Luck... -
Fixed... The underestimating of Ryan Mallett that goes on by some around here is further proof TBD's Scouts are almost as bad collectively as The Bills Scouts have been...If Gailey can help make Fitzy look this good I can't wait to see what he'll do with a Kid like Mallett...

Bills situation beyond hope
KOKBILLS replied to Another Point of View's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I really don't understand how any Bills Fan could find much fault with that article...Heck it even seemed like the guy is reluctantly bashing The Bills...Even if he's correctly bashing them...He makes a bunch of great points and honestly, I just don't understand why Bills Fans are not seriously questioning whether or not this needs to be a one and done for Nix/Gailey. Especially considering they have given us the recent Kelsay extension, and if these reports are correct on the Lynch Trade...well...I just don't know what to say about that...I give up... This is an Organization by most accounts in complete and total disarray...I was willing to give Nix and Gailey the benefit of the doubt, but in a VERY short time they have ripped through their honeymoon period with bizarre moves, horrible judgement, or lack of action...It's freaking embarrassing... -
Brock's inexperience REALLY shows when he's scrambling...He came out and needlessly expended a bunch of energy vs. a MUCH more experienced and savvy fighter...This was bound to happen sooner or later...Brock looks like he NEVER trains "worst case scenario." I'm not saying he doesn't, just saying he looks like he doesn't...He did the same thing vs. Carwin...Rolling around and covering up instead of working his way into guard and out of trouble...But Carwin punched himself out...Cain is WAY too smart for that...He picked Brock apart easy...Lesner better learn how to handle getting hit without going down and just rolling into a ball, cause his defense is not great...He's got a lot of ground to make up and he's not getting any younger...He's still not bad for 7 fights though...
-
I actually agree with you on that point...But stopping this negativity is like trying to stop a Freight Train at full speed by standing on the tracks, holding up your arm, and yelling HALT! Plus, lets face the basic facts...It's well deserved...I've seen plenty of positive get stomped and crushed over the past few years...I thought 7-9 to 9-7 this year...That's a HELL of a ways off from 0-5...So it's kind of like an avalanche of negativity...The only way to avoid it is to not be in it's path... IE...Don't come around TSW for the rest of the year...Because I promise you it's going to be negative around here...Why?...The Bills suck...
