  1. I don't know...22nd in QB rating in the NFL...27th in Completion %...21st in average yards per Pass...16th in Yards per game...And while he was 13th in TD's, Fitz was also 9th in INT's... Nothing about Fitz says Franchise QB...nothing...He's gritty and gutty no doubt...He's a decent stop-gap and a hell of a good #2 QB and teammate...But saying Fitz is a Franchise QB makes me wonder if you've ever seen a Franchise QB over the course of an entire Season...Becasue Fitz is not even in the same league as Peyton, Rivers, Brees, and the like...He's just not at that level... So you think his QB rating, Completion percentage, average yards per Pass, and INT's would have improved with 3 more games? Right... That was awesome!!! Good work...
  2. You know I'm SO tired of the "Every 1st Round QB could be the next Ryan Leaf" crap...Ryan Leaf was a knucklehead of EPIC proportions...Ryan Leaf is a HUGE reason Teams check out Prospects and their personalities FAR more thoroughly today...The chance that a QB Prospect as off-kilter as Leaf will be Drafted in the Top 10 nowadays are VERY, very slim...That does not mean Top 10 QB's won't still be busts...It's the hardest Position to excel at in Pro Sports...But Ryan Leaf was a #2 Overall bust because he's a freaking idiot...And the chances of that happening anymore are slim and none...And slim done left town...
  3. Right...because there are all kinds of ways Fitz compares to Jim Kelly...
  4. Exactly...And it's funny how we were just beat for the millionth time by the sloth of all sloths at QB yet folks want to point to Malletts lack of mobility...He's Carl freaking Lewis in comparison to Brady, and probably a better runner than Peyton Manning, Joe Flacco, Eli Manning, or Phillip Rivers...Don't kid yourself people...Mallett's final evaluation will depend on that rocket-arm and his ability to read Defenses...Not his legs...
  5. Maybe he's your guy...I like Fitz too...Sort of...I like his guts and his smarts for sure...But that does not mean I want the Bills to stop trying to improve the QB Position... Consistancy compared to Losman and Edwards...Yes...Compared to the better QB's in the NFL?...Not so much... Clausen was a 2nd Round Pick and just about everybody who needed a QB passed on him...So I'm not sure on how he really compares to the QB's that will be Drafted high in the 2011 Draft...I do know plenty of Teams were not high on Clausen...Plus he's a Rookie on a REALLY bad Team...We'll see how he does down the road... I would not say having the 21st rated QB in the NFL who is completing 58% of his Passes (28th in the league) is reason enough to ignore a potential Franchise Player at the most important Position on the Team...Fitz is what he is, and he's not bad...But to think The Bills can't do better because Fitz is the epitome of consistancy is a bit ridiculous...They can do better...And they will try...
  6. Exactly... And you don't Draft one at #8 Overall unless he's a game changer as well...The Bills made the one mistake already with Whitner...Knowing that I can't imagine they would make the other... But then again...
  7. Agreed! IMHO this is Lil Donte in a nutshell... I would add he rarely wraps up and instead tries to make that lights-out hit...But he's not that big...And all to often the ball-carrier just bounces off and keeps going...
  8. Right...
  9. I can't possibly imagine that you are in the minority with that opinion John... If so I'm in the minority as well...
  10. And more than likely, when that happens, The Bills will beat the Pats again semi-regularly...Until then it's gonna be REAL tough...Unless Brady gets hurt again... The Bills are 10-11 vs. Miami and 9-12 vs. The Jets since 2000...Not great records, but considering they're 2-19 in the same span vs. The Patsies...I'd say Brady has made a HUGE difference...I realize they beat us with Cassel too, and the Pats with the Master Belichick will always be tough...But let's face it Brady has seriously got our number...Plus I think Belichick retires when Brady does and they ride off into the sunset together holding hands or something like that...
  11. Hmmm...Where to start with this thought... Ok...Luxury Pick...You do realize your talking about the same GM and Head Coach who selected a Running Back at #8 overall when they had one RB in-house coming off a 1000 yard Season, AND the other in-house RB was a former 1st Round Pick, #12 Overall just a few years ago? So with this bunch you can throw that "luxury pick" logic right out the window... Plus lets face the facts here...The assumption that we will Draft a Defensive Player in the 1st Round that is going to have some kind of incredible immediate impact is just that, an assumption...The 1st two Draft picks on the Defensive Side from the 2009 Draft have been average NFL Players...BJ Raji was the 3rd and he's been a little better than average...Aaron Maybin was the 4th...The Bills currently have a 6th Round pick (Moats) that's outperforming a #11 overall pick (Maybin) by a country mile...At the same position no-less...Even though the 6th Rounder was actually Drafted to back-up at a different position...So I kind of have to chuckle when I see the thought, and it's only a though at this point, of Drafting a QB as a luxury pick...Because without knowing how these Kids are going to play in the NFL, and realistically none of us truly knows, how can we possibly determine what is the right or wrong move ahead of time? So lets turn this around hypothetically...Lets say the Bills pass on Newton and take Fairley for example...Fairley goes on to be a decent player but struggles a bit with injuries...Fitz still plays well but never reaches that elite status...The Bills make the Playoffs once in the next 5 years...Meanwhile Newton goes to The Cowboys and in 3-4 Years has them in the Super Bowl...Everyone on this board knows what the general consensus would be...We passed on the star QB...How in the world could The Bills of all Teams pass on the star QB??? Now that was a complete hypothetical, and you could turn it around just as easily...We take Newton, and pass on Fairley...Newton struggles vs NFL Defenses and Fairley becomes the next Bruce...What I'm getting at is this...Who really knows? And if you trust your Scouting Department you have to go with the consensus...If the consensus from this FO is Newton it's NOT a luxury because Fitz, as adorable and Fan friendly as he is, probably falls short of being an elite NFL QB...So if Gailey and Nix LOVE Newton there's no way they are passing on him and thinking it's a luxury pick...They're thinking he's the QB that is going to lead The Buffalo Bills to the Super Bowl in 3-5 years...That's all they're really thinking about...Just saying...
  12. I don't think there is any question about the fact that he has not lived up to the #8 overall selection...He has barely lived up to the #88 overall...And even though he has not necessarily been outplayed by the other two safeties, he has not exactly outplayed both of them either...
  13. There are ways to replace Evans if you Traded him for value, but The Bills have been doing that sort of thing for a while now and it's got them nowhere...They need to stop the Needs merry-go-round and start adding to a young, talented, but VERY thin Depth Chart...You would have to get a ridiculous bounty for Evans to make it worthwhile..And I don't see that happening...I could be wrong though...
  14. Agreed... I still fail to see the logic in even thinking about getting rid of Evans...I think his presence and the attention he gets is a HUGE reason Johnson and the other young guys have emerged...He has his critics, but every D-Coordinator in the NFL knows what Lee is capable of if you leave him one-on-one too often...The last thing the Bills need is to get rid of a guy who has proven he can make plays in the NFL...A bit risky indeed...
  15. True...And I think The Giants gave the NFL the blueprint on how to beat the Pats a few years back...Building a Front 7 like the one the Giants had is a heck of a hill to climb though...MUCH easier said than done...
  16. Especially when you consider the Owner has already spoke publicly about it...I know that was before the ground-swell for Fitz, but with Ralph do we really know? Can you imagine the buzz that a Player like Cam Newton would bring to The Buffalo Bills Franchise?...Can you even put a dollar figure on it?
  17. Truth is The Bills are going to have to build a strong Team on both sides of the ball to overtake the Pats...The Pats have done that for Years...Built a TEAM...But it's WAY easier to build a Team with a guy like Brady standing back there...Lets not forget they also had Cassel...Who won a bunch of Games for them when Brady went down and got the Pats some nice Draft Picks when they dealt him...That's why it's NEVER a bad idea to Draft and stockpile QB's...ever... There's a million different ways to build a Championship Team, but obviously it's MUCH easier if you get the Franchise QB, and the Pats are proof positive of that...They lucked out and got their guy in the 6th Round...The chances of that happening for The Bills are slim at best...But that does not mean you don't try...I remember Mel Kiper saying he would take a QB somewhere in the Draft every year...Continue to look for that diamond in the rough because if you hit on a guy late the returns are incredible and if you already have a Franchise QB you deal the back-up for high Draft Picks...It's a viable strategy considering the success rate of later Round Picks...Where is the risk? And when you see guys like Brady, Cassel, Warner, etc...It's obvious a great QB can come from later in the Draft...You just have to be dedicated to that philosophy as an Organization... So The Bills have Fitz in House and Andrew Luck is out of the question...The only QB's left that may, and I said MAY, Grade out where The Bills Pick in the 1st Round look to be Mallett and Newton...If Nix and Gailey feel either of those guys give The Bills a chance at a true Franchise QB they're going to take him...I swear it's that simple...But if not they'll go elsewhere and continue to build around Fitz...To be honest I think the Bills are in a no-lose situation...Unless The Bills win out, which I think we all agree is a long shot, Fitz will have anywhere from a 3-11 to a 5-9 Record as a Starter...So if they take a QB high who is going to question it? It's absolutely nothing against Fitz who has played REAL well at times this year, but the truth is the guy is 11-22-1 as a Starter in the NFL up to this point...Who would blame The Bills for taking a chance on Mallett or Newton? And if Nix and Gailey decide no QB is worth that 1st Round Pick Fitz has definitely show enough to consider building around him...Like I said it seems like a no-lose situation no matter how you go...They can Draft a bust Defensive Player as easily as they can a QB...It all depends on how Nix and Gailey want to proceed from this point on...
  18. Gotta say I was REAL surprised to see the Poll results on WGR55.com this AM...They asked if Evans would be expendable this coming off-season and it's a 65/35 split in favor of YES after about 450 votes...That just shocks me...
  19. Fitz is 11-22-1 as an NFL Starter... Just saying...
  20. We'll see... Defensive Stud huh? Like Tyson Jackson or Aaron Curry? The 1st 2 Defensive Players taken in the 2009 Draft...There's no guarantees on that side of the field either...A guy like Suh is about as rare as a Franchise QB... This type of future seeing is impossible...I'd rather most of you just be honest, profess your love for all things Fitzpatrick, and just admit you want to put the future of this Franchise in his hands...Or simply say it's your opinion that Fitz will be a better QB than Newton in the NFL...But "the dumbest move ever?" Really? Have you actually seen Aaron Maybin play Football? Well neither has anyone else truthfully...And we Drafted him at #11 Overall...But Drafting a 6-6 Heisman Trophy winning QB who is about to win the National Championship, had 49 combined Passing, Rushing and Recieving TD's along with 4000 All Purpose Yards in the toughest Conference in College Football would be "the dumbest move ever?" A little premature and dramatic don't you think? I understand the risks with Newton and I'm not even saying The Bills should Draft him...But if they do I won't mind at all...If Gailey can make Fitz look as good as he has I'd LOVE to see what he can do with an athlete like Newton...And we'd still have Fitz for 2011 regardless...I actually feel a bit for Fitz because I don't want to disrespect the guy...He's come a long way...And no question a guy like Newton can crash and burn...But he could also end up being better than anyone can imagine...The buzz and initial excitement Newton would bring to this Franchise would be incredible...And the thought of passing on a Kid like that and seeing him blossom while the Bills struggle for another 10 years has me thinking if that's what Nix and Gailey want to do sobeit...I''m not saying that's what will happen, I'm just saying the thought of it is nauseating...And if they want to build around Fitz I'm fine with that too...As long as Newton falls flat on his face...If The Bills pass on Newton and he becomes a stud it's going to be awfully hard for them to live it down any time soon...
  21. I hear what you're saying...But you've got one player who was a one hit wonder as a DE in the Big Ten and another who was All-World at the QB position and CLEARLY the best Player in College Football...There is a difference between how they look at a DE and how they look at a 6-6 Heisman Trophy winning QB out of the SEC...You know as well as I do, regardless of what Nix has said, they're going to look at Newton differently...That may be good or bad for Newton...I'm not sure...I'm just saying, if they like him and he's there, they're going to take him... And I'm not saying I want the Bills to Draft Newton either...I am saying it's a HUGE possibility... I will go on record right now and say I'm dead set against them Drafting Betty White...
  22. VERY true... Thing is if you had a re-Draft all of those guys would go high in the 1st Round...Brady, Montana and Favre would go #1 overall...So while it's true that great, Hall Of Fame QB's can be had outside the 1st Round, it's also true that the reason for that is crappy Scouting throughout the league...I often here "no one could have know this one or that one was going to be great." Well...Is it not their job to know?...Just saying... Your logic would apply to any position outside of QB...No offense but I really can't understand how Fans of the NFL don't get this...QB is never looked at in the same light as other positions...Unless QB is a clear and obvious strength on your Team there is always the potential that you will take a QB high if the right one is available and your FO loves the guy...How in the world has this fact gotten lost on NFL Fans?...I just don't get it? And yes there is most definitely a chance that the QB you Pick will be a bust...It's probably a higher chance than most other positions...It's classic risk vs reward stuff though...Most Teams will risk the high pick, assuming they do not have a Franchise-type in house, if they think the potential reward is a Franchise guy...I swear to Y'all it really is that simple... So the only question you need to ask yourself is this...Do Nix and Gailey think Fitz is a Franchise QB? Cause that is the only question that matters in this discussion...If the answer is yes they will more than likely go Defense in the 1st Round...If the answer is no, and they really like a QB that is available when they Pick, they WILL take that QB...Period...End of story...It wont matter if we have zero LB's and DE's on the roster at the time...They will take that QB...
  23. Tell it to Nix and Gailey not me...If they like Newton and he's there when we Pick he'll be a Buffalo Bill...It's really that simple...
