Current mocks...Pete Prisco & Chad Reuter say Gabbert
KOKBILLS replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I just have a felling it's going to be Gabbert or Newton in the end...Just a gut thing... -
Right...The myth that he has a 57.8 career completion % in 36 NFL Starts...Totally made up... It is what it is...There was 26 NFL QB's with a higher Completion % than Fitz in 2010...Does Comp % tell the whole story? Of coarse not...Is it a myth that Fitz has never had a 60% Completion % in any of his NFL Seasons? Nope...Not a myth...It's a fact...

The LAST thing in the world The Bills need to do is Trade ANY Draft Picks away...They are SO far from being a Team that can afford to give up Picks it's really not even funny...Seriously...Trade Down? Absolutely!!! Trade away Picks and come up with a net loss? No F'n way...

How far are we from GB? do we need a QB?
KOKBILLS replied to Poeticlaw's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know about "we," but I know what I think about Fitz's potential...Not to say that I'm right...It's just My opinion...But it does fascinate me that so many Bills Fans feel Fitz will get better and not level off, or even worse regress...I'm not saying that he can't get better, because obviously it's a possibility...But the Guy has had 36 NFL Starts...That's 2 1/4 Full Seasons...He took a big leap in 2010 no question...But he's going to have to take a leap equally as big to start being mentioned amongst the NFL's best QB's...And that's what The Bills need him to be...Amongst the best...Let say Top 10... Here's what Fitz will have to do to be a Top 10 QB in 2011... Improve his Completion % by 4.8%... Throw for 653 more Yards... Throw about 5 less INT's... Improve his QB Rating by about 10 Points... Keep everything else he did in 2010 about the same... Now I'm not saying that Fitz can't do these things because obviously he can...Maybe...I'm just not convinced, and I'm DEFINITELY not convinced that Fitz can be a Top 10 calibre QB...So the way I see it, because I value the QB Position SO highly, it's by far the biggest unresolved Need The Bills have...Like I said before I'm not sure they can address it this Off Season...But to me it's still #1 by a mile...Hope that explains where I'm coming from on all this... -
I wrote this earlier on a friends Facebook comment... A friend of mine commented "That was the worst Halftime Show I've ever seen, and I remember when Up With The People did the Halftime Show...so that's REALLY saying something." I thought that was pretty funny...

Maurkice pouncey...errr Chris ellis
KOKBILLS replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Right because there's SO many similarities in the two Organizations... If Urbik turns into a Player they'll say even a blind Squirrel snags a nut every now and again...If Ellis turns into a Player they'll say that's what great Organizations like the Steelers do...Lets not Kid ourselves...The Steelers Fans are not going to envy anything the The Bills do any time soon... -
How far are we from GB? do we need a QB?
KOKBILLS replied to Poeticlaw's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bingo!!! Of coarse the Year prior Jamarcus Russell went #1, Calvin Johnson went #2, and Joe Thomas went #3...So the idea is get the RIGHT QB...And that's on the Scouting Department, Gailey, and in the end it's Nix call...And no question that makes me a bit nervous... ...It's definitely a gamble no matter...But all things being equal (ie overall Draft Grade) you HAVE to take the QB...Because there simply is no Position on the Field that can improve your Team as much as having a Franchise QB can...You just have to get it right... -

KOKBILLS replied to Poeticlaw's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes it does... Teams that start their building with the Franchise QB Win Super Bowls...Teams that try to build other ways are moving upstream without a paddle...Not that it can't be done...But getting that Franchise QB first is definitely the easier, more efficient, and in the long-run more effective approach... You can say that there may not be a QB available that is going to be a Franchise QB this Off Season...And that's fair enough...But to say The Bills need to build away from QB before they get their QB because somehow some way it's going to make things easier for that QB...Well...That's not the way it works...The Buffalo Bills were not a very good Franchise when they finally Signed Jim Kelly...The Cowboys went 1-15 in Troy Aikman's first year...They were TERRIBLE! The Colts were 3-13 in Manning's first year...Think they had some holes to fill? The Packers were 6-10 in Rodgers 1st Year as a Starter...The Steelers were 7-9, and 6-10 the 2 years prior to Drafting Big Ben...The Giants were 4-12 before Drafting Eli, and 6-10 in his Rookie Year...Is there really any reason to go on? The Bills need a Franchise QB...They may or may not find that QB this off season...But they can build around the QB position all they want...It will NEVER have the overall effect that a Franchise QB will give them...EVER... -
That's what I'm saying Bro...It's just a mess of a process the way it's done...Truthfully, I understand deserving Players get in every year and that's great...But the whole process is embarrassing...
-
This has to be the biggest joke of a process ever... I'm pretty sure this mean Dre is in next year though...But come on...This is ridiculous...Expand the Classes by a Player or two...Do something... The way it is now is a joke...So Dent is more deserving than Haley? Sharpe more than Dre, Carter and Brown? I can understand the 1st time Ballot thing being special...But letting these guys wait and slip through the cracks when everyone knows damn well they are HOF Players is a joke of a process...The NFL should be ashamed of this process instead of promoting it the way they do...It's embarassing to me as an NFL fan...And I don't know anyone who is a bigger Fan of NFL Football than I am...It's a sham...

It was commentary during the Sr. Bowl...It was pretty much word for word the way I wrote it...There is no link that I know of...You'll have to take my word for it or re-wind the tape to hear it... Sorry the way I posted the quote does not live up to the lofty standards you've set up around here...I'll try to do better in my 2nd decade here at TBD to regain your trust...
-
I thought it was VERY interesting that when asked about these Spread/Running QB's at the Sr Bowl Chan Gailey was quoted as basically saying "The question is whether or not you want to be ahead or behind the wave. Be cause the wave is coming." Buddy Nix has been CRYSTAL clear that The Bills Scouting Department has an eye on the future...There is no question The Bills may be interested in taking a QB high assuming they feel a Prospect is worth the Pick...Gailey is considered one of the foremost Offensive minds in the NFL (at least by some he is)...I think a quote like that makes it pretty obvious that Gabbert AND Newton are both very much in play at #3 Overall...Or at the very least The Bills want it to look that way...But we'll see I guess... I thought that was pretty interesting though...
-
Whatever... That's not what the Post was about...I don't disagree with you're point, but these idiots ripped Gailey and the Bills Staff for the way they were Coaching these Kids and today it looked pretty clear which side was better prepared to play... I'm not willing to give anyone in this Bills Organization a pass when the real bullets fly either...But I don't see a reason for pessimism in this case at all...They were clearly criticized and in the end it seems like they did a pretty good Job in helping these Kids get better...
-
I'm not in favor of taking a WR or CB at #3...Period...If The Bills are tempted they should Trade Down...But what they will likely do is take a CB or a WR because neither is really a Need, and that's just what they do...

the Bills gameplan for the franchise?
KOKBILLS replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That Article was dead on... As far as Modrak is concerned...Ralph's recent comments were a slap in the face to knowledgeable Bills Fans if you ask me...Modrak may not make the final call, but he darn sure had guys like Maybin, Losman, Whitner, and McCargo graded out close to where we Drafted them...Like DiCesare points out, are we to believe Ralph, Jauron, and Nix just went rouge off-the-board and snagged these Players? Come on... They know darn well they're not going to consider a Player at any point in the Draft that their Scouting Department is not touting...And they darn sure are not going to reach much based on THEIR Board...Every Team has them ranked differently...And Modrak is sitting right there in each meeting when the Bills finalize their Draft Boards...I promise everyone here that Maybin was ranked on their Board at or around #11 Overall...So how is Modrak not accountable for that? If he was not accountable he would have stood up in those Pre Draft meetings and said NO WAY is this guy a 1st Round Pick...And if he did, as the Head Scout, the Brass would listen and no way would they Draft him where they did...He's a good Scout? Really? Come on Folks...How can any good Scout not stand on the table and demand Matthews over Maybin, Ngata over Whitner, Rodgers-Cromartie over McKelvin...do I really need to go on? The fact that The Bills Drafted Spiller last year, and the fact that they are keeping Modrak makes me think things have not changed nearly as much as we would like to believe as Bills Fans...We'll see in time how this whole Nix/Gailey thing pans out...But I for one am beyond skeptical at this point...Hopeful yes, but VERY skeptical... -
Hope you're right... But in an Offense that saw no names like Steve Johnson and Ryan Fitzpatrick resurrect their careers one has to wonder why the guy with the most talent could not seemingly get on-track...Freddie seemed to do just fine...Spiller was simply not nearly what he was advertised as being...Remember he got a TON of National support for Pre-Season Rookie Of The Year...So I don't blame anyone for being a bit skeptical...Especially when the Bills could have had Bulaga and filled a massive need at RT...Even though this is a new brain-trust...The scars still remain...And it's easy for a Bills Fan to think the worst...Like Spiller is going to bomb, and we passed on fill-in-the-blank...
-
Well unfortunately it looks like the Crystal Balls are out-of-order, so all we have to go by is what actually happened on the Field... There's no question Spiller can bounce back...There's also no question his Rookie Year was a HUGE disappointment...

So much for the NEED to have a "franchise QB"...
KOKBILLS replied to McD's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm curious...Exactly what about Fitz's Career 14-23 record as a starter has you convinced he's a winner? Just saying...He's had some good games and some not so good Games...He's improved, but he's been up and down since he made his debut in St Louis...I really don't see any evidence that he can be a consistent winning QB in the NFL...He's had 37 Starts...That's enough time to form an opinion...I'm just surprised SO many around here are convinced he's going to get better and not level off... -
Good article by Gaughn on Buddy Nix Today
KOKBILLS replied to bananathumb's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I hear what you're saying...And I want a QB as much as anybody...Probably more...But whether or not Newton will be that type of Player is WAY up in the air at this point...WAY, WAY, WAY up in the air... -
Good article by Gaughn on Buddy Nix Today
KOKBILLS replied to bananathumb's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nothing...Assuming the guy you want is actually any good, or worth #9 overall...Admittedly that remains to be seen...But the early returns are not exactly favorable...Mr excitement was not exactly very exciting...Nix said on Draft Day "There's only one Spiller." Well good thing because two would be one too many at this point... Meanwhile a MUCH maligned and criticized Brian Bulaga and his short arms is Starting at RT for the NFC's Super Bowl participants...He made Pro Football Weekly and the Pro Football Writers of America's All-Rookie Team...But obviously we needed a RB and not a RT...Right? That's why the card was rushed up there... -
Tell me again what wins championships?
KOKBILLS replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly... And Rodgers too... When you get this deep Teams are pretty solid throughout...And of coarse they will be solid on Defense...So does that not mean in order to advance you better have a QB who can step-up and make plays vs these kinds of Defenses?... This whole Defense wins Championships garbage around here lately is a joke...Of coarse Defense wins Championships...So does good Offense and a great QB...DUH! IT'S THE TEAM!!! And more often than not that winning SB Championship TEAM has a pretty darn good QB...Try winning said Championship with an average QB and tell me how good that Defense is going to have to be...Chicago is the perfect example this year...Just because you have a killer Defense does not mean you can get by with poor QB play in the Playoffs... Just look at the names of the SB Winning QB's over the past 20 years...Manning I and II, Big Ben, Brady, Brees, Elway, Aikman, Favre, Warner...etc...Sure you had one Dilfer and one Johnson in there...You think The Bills can build THAT kind of Defense? The kind of Defense that won it for Balt and Tampa? It's as doubtful, maybe even more doubtful, than landing a legit Franchise Top 5 in the NFL QB...You have to have 11 REAL good pieces AND great depth for a Defense to be THAT good...Get a Franchise QB and at least they can hide some deficiencies...And to top it off this is a Bills Team that is woefully thin on Defense currently....They cant stop anybody...So how long will it take to build a defense the caliber of Pittsburgh, Green Bay, The Jets, etc?... The Bills need to get the future at QB figured out first and foremost...Now I'm not saying they need to Draft one at #3 Overall just yet...But they better figure out who is going to lead this Team at the QB position in the near future...Then they need to build all over with the best players they can get their hands on...But QB HAS to be the #1 priority going forward...Period... -

Should Heads Roll if we don't make the Playoffs?
KOKBILLS replied to Glory Bound's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A 4-12 Team in the 2nd year of a TOTAL rebuild, with a million holes still to fill and a questionable QB situation...I'd say you should be thanking the GM and Coaches for hanging around this mess... Ultimatums? Not quite yet... -
Players we should have drafted

With a Draft record like that...Pretty much...
